Let me preface this review by saying that I am really, pathetically afraid of needles. The mere thought of getting my blood drawn makes me nearly lose consciousness. And yet, Julie’s acupuncture is AMAZING and soothing and calming and healing and totally restorative. Lady’s Slipper is a very unassuming, office-y building on Lowry. Once you’re inside, though, it’s like you’ve been transported to this oasis where herbs line the entire wall and the sound of singing bowls resonates throughout. I walked in and immediately exhaled, despite being super uncomfortably pregnant. Then, there’s Julie! She has a calm, open disposition and made me feel right at home. The treatment rooms are dim and outfitted with cozy chairs and beautiful colors in order to make you feel as relaxed as possible — and it works! Oh, and the aroma of essential oils doesn’t hurt, either. Before each treatment, Julie will sit with you as long as you need in order to go over what your goals are and how she can help you achieve them. She gets a sense of your comfort level and always checks in with you during acupuncture to make sure everything is going the way YOU want it to. Needle doesn’t feel quite right? She’ll adjust it, no questions asked. She takes her time with each client and the result is this wonderful relationship of healing and openness that is centered around wellness as you see it. She isn’t pushy in any way, although she does have more herbs than I’ve ever seen in a single place, so if you’re interested in the next step of wellness she definitely knows her stuff. She also does cupping and a bunch of other awesome techniques that I can’t remember the names of, but they’re amazing. I went to Julie in the couple of weeks before giving birth; she even has a special treatment for mamas who are hoping to give their babes a gentle eviction notice! She offers totally individualized treatment in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. There’s even off-street parking! There is also massage offered at Lady’s Slipper, although it’s not by Julie. Both Julie and the massage therapists are really busy, though, so book ahead!(Side note: Julie is accommodating, so if you have an emergency and really need to see her before the next appointment time, I bet she’d work with you to figure something out.) Next time you need a dose of wellness and conversation about how to get your body-spirit-mind into the best place they can be, go see Julie. She was a lifesaver for me during my pregnancy and I can’t wait to go back for a treatment once I figure out how to have Me Time again!

Julie is the best of the best. Lady Slipper is a beautiful and relaxing space and she always seems to have really unique and fun special events. I always have felt welcomed and cared for, plus I leave feeling like a whole new me.
