Bare bulbs in basic ceiling fixtures light provide harsh and inadequate light for the Wendy loft. At the moment. 6 months after moving in I’ve gotten around to ordering lighting fixtures from ‘Lightworks’ an awesome little family company that renovates old fixtures, designs and makes new fixtures and just loves lighting. I’ve spent several visits just sat on a bar stool in the shop talking to Charles and Kathryn while Wes walks through and the new puppy tries to get into the showroom. They are lovely people. I’ve bought some plain pendants with 18 inch hand blown glass globules ‘shades’ that will cover two bulbs. Charles and Kathryn gave clear advice on all sorts of things while listening to what I was trying to achieve. Excellent. I’ve also commissioned them to renovate a standard lamp(circa 1920s) that mum and dad bought as a housewarming gift when I moved to Seattle in 2000. Charles and Kathryn loved this and told me that if it was being sold today they’d expect about to get about $ 2,500 for it. WOW, that’s added a couple of zero’s onto what mum and dad paid for it! Looking forward to the fixtures being made and arriving

I’ve been acting as an interior decorator for a 1910 home in Portland, Oregon. Because the large house had been gutted by a fire and the client was faced with hundreds of aesthetic decisions, I wanted to minimize his«option poisoning» and select a «suite» of similar, but not identical, period-appropriate lights for many of the rooms in the house. Lightworks, because of their custom options, was the only vendor I found that could give me the variety I wanted. What was remarkable was that they had better finishes and were more affordable than the other companies that had more limited selections. They also offered absolutely stellar customer service. Kathyrn sent samples of finishes, patiently answered seemingly endless questions from me, and when I was on deadlines, gathered information for me far more quickly than a large company would have. It was also satisfying to support a small independently owned business(the return address labels on the boxes were actually hand-written). I was justifiably nervous about purchasing so many fixtures sight-unseen, but they all arrived beautifully packaged, without any damage, and were consistently gorgeous. I will post photos when the(literal) dust has settled. It was a large order(over 20 fixtures with shades) so this involved a big leap of faith. My expectations were exceeded in every way. I would recommend LIghtworks in a heartbeat to anyone. Thanks Kathryn!

We designed a custom fixture and they created exactly what we imagined! Absolutely spectacular work and very affordable. The couple that owns it makes all their own pieces and are just so sweet and accommodating. I can’t say enough good things! I’d go again in a heartbeat over a brand store any day.

The first place I go for lighting. Lightworks is a Mpls gem. Forget Restoration Hardware, Rejuvenation and all the repro places — here you can get the real thing, probably cheaper. They also do repros that feel substantial, not Home Depot-esque. They can rewire anything, and turned a random piece of found glass into an awesome fixture. So if you are into salvage, estate sales or having something no one else does — go here. Katherine & Charles are scary knowledgeable, incredibly nice and a huge asset to Mpls. I have looked elsewhere, but always come back. Deco, Arts & Crafts, fab Fifties, Machine Age — you can get it all and more.

as the card says: Custom built fixtures, authentic antique lighting fixtures & restoration. Owned and run by Charles & Kathryn Dailey, and believe you me they are passionate about their lighting! They can do anything, I swear. We have had 2 vintage lamps rewired a few years ago, then purchased a pendant and just yesterday brought in 3 beat up olé lamps we bought on the cheap at Hunt and Gather to be rewired. They are 3 – 4 weeks out for repair, so be patient. Once rewired, the lamps will last longer than us.
