I stopped by this restaurant on 11÷8÷15 approximately 6pm. The place was fairly empty with one other table being waited. The waiter took our drink orders; I ordered 2 hot saki’s. The waiter comes back with one, forgetting the other. The Saki wasn’t hot at all. We then waited for the waiter to return only to watch him seat another party at the table behind us and not only take their drink orders, but return and take down their food orders… we actually watched them bring out an appetizer for the other party before returning to our table to ask if we were ready to order. We endured about 35 mins of subpar service at the Mango factory… Never again!

I went here for sushi last night and as my second time here I was still not impressed. The woman who took our order was so soft spoken we could barely hear her above the customer conversations. The order itself took about 25 minutes because the regular chef was out, and apparently the guy making sushi takes 30 min for each order. We were notified that the kitchen was backed up but it should not take 30 min for basic rolls. When the food finally did come out, the rolls were messy and falling apart on the bottom. The roll itself was pretty flavorless. In a fan of quality ingredients because I like to eat rolls without soy sauce. If it hadn’t been for the soy sauce at our table, the roll wouldn’t have been edible. Thank goodness I also ordered sashimi because that was delicious and needed no soy sauce. Our waitress did take 10% off the total order for the delay but she wouldn’t do the additional 10% for my Unilocal checkin. I was not impressed, and frankly there are plenty of sushi places with a larger menu and multiple chefs who know how to make sushi rolls and incorporate solid flavor. I’m going to one of those next time.

Tonight I was at the Mango Factory for almost two hours waiting for two rolls, a bento box and a drink. The waitress was nice and tried to space out our food so we didn’t notice. It took 50 min to get a drink! We most definitely noticed. Someone either didn’t show up or this is how it normally is there which would be insane! The food-we had the Aquarius dream which was good but the fish on top was charred too much and another one that started with an n; no rice in this one but it was very fresh. The gyoza was the best thing I had! The edamame was served cold which I didn’t really like. The mushrooms and rice were good. The shrimp tempura wasn’t anything special. We asked for pearls in the drink but none came. They let me use my expired groupon which I was grateful for bc they were supposed to but sometimes places don’t honor what they should. I would maybe try this place again but only if I have a lot of time…

My friend took me here for my birthday. We were both excited because we heard about their desserts. The décor and design of the restaurant is really nice. I really liked it. I had the the sushi lunch special, which was 3 basic rolls for $ 12. I had the spicy tuna roll, Alaska roll, and Philly roll. Along with those, I had miso soup and takoyaki. We ordered mango pudding and mango fluffy snow for dessert. The miso soup was really watered down. Not much taste. I wouldn’t recommend it. The takoyaki was alright. This is the only second time I’ve tried takoyaki. Comparing it to my first time, this takoyaki didn’t compact as much flavor. The octopus meat was chewy. However, I would would say it was in between okay to good. The sushi overall was just okay. There are definitely better options for sushi. The avocado in my roll was really thick and rubbery. My friend was not satisfied with her tempura roll. Each roll fell apart every time she picked it up with chop sticks. The sushi overall just was not satisfying. The highlight for my friend and I were the desserts! We got a mango pudding and mango fluffy snow. The mango pudding was cheap, but the portion was small. However, it was amazingly delicious. The mango fluffy snow had a texture exactly like freshly fallen snow. It was really soft and fluffy. We were told it was a mixture of shaved ice and ice cream. The portion was huge!!! Both of the desserts were great. They were not too sweet, which I liked. They also did not taste like artificial mango flavor. Overall, the appetizers and sushi were just okay; not satisfying. I would come back for their desserts and to try out their other options of food.

I really enjoyed the food at the Mango Factory. By daughter and I both visited for the first time today and we had a late lunch. We’re both pretty picky. And we were both very happy with the food. We had Teriyaki Chicken Wings as an app. For the main meal, we had Chicken Teriyaki and Crazy Tuna rolls – excellent! For dessert we had Banana Crepes and Coffee Flavored Mochi Ice Cream – yum!!! I never had Mochi Ice Cream before. Our server snitched on them and told us this is a pre-packaged product. Nonetheless, it was very good and the presentation was beautiful. My only bitch is the service is super slow. Don’t come here if you’re in a hurry. –Daddy Maxx Retro

Came for the lunch special(2 basic sushi rolls for $ 8). They also have entrée options(teriyaki) on special for lunch. Nice décor. We told the waiter that we had about 50 minutes for lunch. He said there was no ‘line’ i.e. the sushi chefs did not have anything to do at the moment so it would be quick. However, our food did not come out for another 35 minutes. Our waiter kept forgetting silverware/chopsticks and did not come around to check on us very often. Sushi was ok. Nothing special.

Mango factory was a good yet unique experience. My boyfriend and I love sushi, but the rolls were different than we are accustomed to. We tried a few sushi rolls, and our favorite was the Minneapolis roll. I definitely recommend that when you go here. Overall, good experience and we plan on returning.

We went here to try the afternoon tea set, it was a pretty good overall experience for the 8 of us. Would like to give 3.5 stars! All the drinks were good. The tuna dip with hint of dill was excellent. The vegetarian sushi was ok, a bit bland. Wish they gave more gyoza, Not everyone got a piece :(The honey toast in mango was better than strawberry. The macaroons, cupcakes, tarts were not made in house, it wasn’t very good, too sweet and nothing special. We did order their sushi it was nicely presented and delicious! Problem was we had to keep asking for silverware for each kind of dish. Can’t eat ice cream with fork and can’t keep eating on same plate, savory to sweets! A little disorganized, but they were nice and tried.

I thought the food was super on point! When we arrived, we went inside and asked for menus… While we did wait about 15 minutes and no one came, I went back inside and asked if a server would come out and I guess they had forgot. The menu is filled with the normal sushi options, but they had a selection of Japanese entrees that looked delicious. And their sushi rolls all had pictures which makes me much more inclined to try one of those! Our server was super nice and knowledgable of the menu, and even brought out a bowl of water for my pup! We got the avocado salad which was delicious, ponzu sauce with thinly cut avocado slices, medley of lettuce, tomato, togarashi and other Japanese spices for a little crunch. Sushi we got the fatty baked salmon sushi which had togarashi, black pepper and was lightly charred and so good! Shrimp tempura was nicely battered-good texture, and a big portion. Mocha ice cream is good as well! Overall I’d recommend eating inside, the décor was beautiful. Service might take a little to get started but they are very cordial!

Came here for dessert, didn’t really order sushi. We started off with watermelon and mango smooties. The watermelon smoothie was actually really good but the mango one tasted watered down and diluted. Water is served in these cute skinny looking glasses that look like tall shot glasses. We started off with the banana crêpe. The crêpe wrapped whipped cream and a banana in it. Now, I was a little disappointed with this because I felt like the crêpe alone was a little under cooked. It still felt doughy and sticky. 2⁄5 Next we had the strawberry snow. This was more likeoof a strawberry sorbet kind of texture and taste than snow. It looks and felt like they thinly sliced strawberry sorbet into thin layers. It wasn’t like ice cream or snow texture but more like a sorbet kind of thing. I don’t recommend this to anyone. You do get a good amount for what you pay though. 1⁄5 Then we had the mango toast. It’s Mango ice cream, mango purée, mango, whipped cream on a crunchy toast. Presentation was beautiful but I felt like the toast was too thick. There’s 2 layers of toast inside the toast shell. 3⁄5 Service was very nice but slow. The presentation for all of these are beautiful but I don’t think I can see myself going back here.

Lovely and Morden shop. 4 star for this. Food is nicely present and ok taste. Portion is fit but in the light side. Ordered ebi sushi and that is not the best I have had. The bento combo is nice by adding a few bucks to get a soup noodle. Other dishes are fine. Very slow to serve food though the waiter was good. Overall 3 star.

Contrary to my previous review, I went back. We were desperate for some sushi and something nearby, so I bought another Groupon and on we marched into Mango Factory again. This time my experience was MUCH better than the last. I had no complaints about our service and was quite pleased that(who I assume was) the manager came out to personally let us know that the strawberry honey toast we ordered was unavailable. Although I felt like we got hustled and ended up picking a pricier dessert, it was still appreciated that he came out himself to speak with us. The honey toast we ended up getting was DELICIOUS! It’s literally a loaf of bread with the insides diced up and drizzled with honey and then topped with scoops of ice cream. I was more pumped about the bread than the ice cream. I definitely fine myself craving it from time to time. Nothing has changed about my opinion on the sushi. It hits the spot when you’re craving sushi. Would I go back? Yes, but only with a Groupon. I certainly would not pay full price for what you get. Except for the dang honey toast… *drools*

On the West Bank today and visited for the first time. Food was alright for entrees, nothing really special going on there. Prices are reasonable as well. Even more so with their Groupon or Unilocal coupon. You cannot use both at the same time if you were curious. The desserts were good. Solid milk tea as well but a little sweet. All in all what I expected, they were out of a lot of stuff and things took a while but we didn’t mind as we were chilling and talking for the duration. Our server was a nice guy though. Could see myself back again. Parking in back by the old(now closed) Quiznos and Republic. I miss Grandma’s when it was on West Bank. Anyhow, it’s a good spot for a low key evening out on the cheaps for acceptable sushi and otherwise. That dessert menu is dangerous though for serious :) Posted photos as well.

This place was everything I wanted it to be. Went here for my birthday dinner and used a groupon. Mango roll, veggie roll and the Philadelphia were all enjoyable. The fried tofu appetizer is amazing! So much more than what I thought it was going to be. Silken tofu lightly fried on the outside and drizzled with tasty(mango?) sauce. Delightful. Mango mochi and mango crepes for dessert. The mochi was great(again, drizzled in mango sauce) and the crêpe was just OK. Filled with un-ripe, tough mango. If it’s not in season don’t put it on the menu… Ambience was great in the beginning but the Japanese music changed to slow american ballads after a while. Also, some Jesus documentary was on the TV. I could have done without that. However, the food was amazing(sake too) and I can’t wait to go again!

I visited this place 2 times! I LOVE the sushi here! I love mango, so I loved all of their mango rolls! Their dessert was okay, but I didn’t think it was FANTASTIC. I could go somewhere else in MN for shaved ice. The brick toast wasn’t worth my money or the wait :( Service here is AWESOME! I will come back for sure.

There’s a 6 – 9 car parking lot next to the building! Although street parking is fairly cheap as well. We initially stopped here for just dessert but got distracted quickly by the massive and colorful food menu. We have hungry eyeballs. Anyway, we got there at about lunch time and it wasn’t very busy which was nice. We were seated right away. We got warmed creamy sake. It tasted sweet and was $ 11? Made about 10 – 12 shots? Nice and toasty. The bf and I both got the chicken curry with ramen side as an add on. Then we dumped it all together and had curry ramen!!! We also perhaps ate too much food also as I almost burst at the seams after lunch. It was fairly cheap considering we both had a lot of drinks(see a pattern in my reviews??? Haha.) and a bottle of sake and two large entrees. I was sad I couldn’t have any dessert but any more food and I might have puked it all up. Haha.(And then I went next door to the brewery and drank more beer.) But I will be back for dessert next time!!!

I would say that this is probably one of the better places to get sashimi. The raw Salmon is to die for. It has the perfect balance of fat and meat. It is so delicious I pretty much began to salivate more and more as I was eating it. I have been here a couple times, and most of the time, if you are not in large party; you will be waiting for a while. My partner and I waited for about an hour once, and that was due to the fact that another party of about 8 had bought a boat of sushi. A boat. It was pretty gnarly. I ordered a Su riêng smoothie(Durian). It was really good actually. It was made out of the real fruit itself, in which most smoothie places,(Like Tea Garden and other crap like that) make their stuff from powder. My partner and I also ordered two specialty rolls… I can’t remember what they were called but I can describe them. One had alot of the imitation caviar on top, and was assembled in a circle. The other had two pieces of raw fish that came with them that were white.(I guess that doesn’t help too much does it?) The staff is pretty friendly there, and the service could always be better. But then again, what is one suppose to expect with a place that has so many other competitors within the Minneapolis area. The bathrooms aren’t too bad either! Which is something I like to point out. It never has smelt bad, and it really does seem like they to their best to keep it nice and tidy. I haven’t ever had any other food there other than the sushi. I once ordered an item to go that was a lunch special. I didn’t like it too much because it did have too much soy sauce, but that is just me. I believe it was the beef and mushroom. Point is: The sushi is good, the only downside is that you might have to wait a while and that you’re water glass is constantly being refilled.

This is a great sushi place to be right next to a college campus. It’s decent food at a decent price(especially with one of those coupons that are always floating around!). As a lot of the other reviews suggest, service is shoddy. Their biggest problem is using these tiny water glasses that need to be constantly refilled. Wait times are often on the long side, and they tend to bring out plates in weird increments. Otherwise, the staff is friendly enough. The food is on par with what you’d expect for a sushi place in Minnesota, and they have a variety of teriyaki dishes. The dessert selections are different. Ultimately, I’m not sure how I feel about the loaf of bread stuffed with ice cream, but I am willing to eat it again and again until I find out. It’s a small place, but a reservation probably isn’t necessary if you have 4 people or less, even on Friday and Saturday. Come with a coupon and reasonable expectations, and you’ll like Mango Factory just fine.
