Nearly fell down the hazardous stairway that is right in front of the door. The bathroom is shared with other businesses, requires a key, and stinks of death. Coffee was not very hot.

Good paninis and okay coffee. It would be really nice if they had side salads or soup to go with the paninis. Also, the service was a bit slow, it wasn’t awful but it wasn’t a quick experience either.

Never had a bad experience at Mapp’s, though I often wish the tables were a bit larger. Such is life! Excellent Turkish black tea. If you’re a black tea drinker like I am, give it a shot. I think it’s perfect on its own, or with steamed half and half.

Good location and decent coffee/beverages…non-dairy milk options include both soy and almond which I always appreciate. They also carry lots of sandwiches and baked goods, though I’ve only tried the vegan zucchini bread(delicious). It’s a nice little atmosphere for studying or meeting up with someone. I’ve heard folks grumble about the $ 5 minimum for credit cards but that doesn’t bother me… it’s a reasonable enough stipulation and you can include a tip to reach the minimum. Only downside for this place(to me) is that the wifi doesn’t work super well. Otherwise, great spot!

Just stopped by for a quick breakfast! Crispy hot bagel, cream cheese and a cup of hot Turkish tea. I might have a homemade baklava and a Turkish coffee for the final touch. :))

It’s a homey, cozy, coffee shop — spacious with plenty of tables. Kind of surprising not to see any hipsters or yuppies at all, coffee places are their jam! instead this spot is more so frequented by local students and professors. So impressed by how warm and welcoming the barista was! It’s like I wasn’t in Minnesota anymore ;-P Warm eye contact, authentic smile, and kindness! Felt like I was given a great big hug, even though in fact, there was no hug. Really open and kind people here. Only had the Chai here, so can’t comment on the coffee. The Chai was standard, and good enough!

A friend and I enjoyed a chai and a cup of tea today after catching a show from the Fringe Festival at the Rarig theatre at the University of Minnesota. Loved it! It’s an awesome coffee shop, comfortable and nice space right in the heart of the west bank area, just walking distance from the Rarig.

Service and coffee has gone downhill since the new hires. The chai tastes like water :/. 2 stars for the good study space and location.

Space — Mapps is a simple, laid-back coffee shop on the perimeter of the West Bank campus, with near library-like quietness save for light background chatter and music. It’s got an open and airy feel with plenty of natural light that really gets serotonin surging. Great space for meetings or getting work done(outlet availability seemed to be a non-issue). Crowd — Despite its proximity to the university, Mapps is not exclusively a student café. The crowd is diverse with a presence of local residents, students, faculty, business folks. On a Monday, the customer flow was steady, but open seating was ample. Drinks — I was leery of purchasing a caffeinated beverage due to some of the below Unilocal reviews that slam the coffee. I’m no coffee aficionado, but I was complaint-free after reaching the bottom of my reasonably priced soy latte($ 3-something). Food — Didn’t sample any edibles, but the selection was commendable with an offering beyond only pastries. Warnings —(1) Credit card minimum is $ 5.(2) Wifi was spotty during my first visit. I’m holding out hope that this was an isolated incident. If it is a constant, I’d knock off 1 to 2 stars.

First of all, this place is so cute. It’s got a very comfy, laid back atmosphere. I always get a plain latte, have been here 5+ times and it’s always good. I also got a chai tea latte for a friend once and she raved about it. I occasionally purchase bread or muffins too, which have been good, although I’m not sure they are made at mapps. I think they are from another bakery that sells through mapps. The staff is always very friendly and talkative! Only downside is that they do not accept credit cards for purchases under $ 5, and I don’t always carry cash.

decent coffee for cheap so that’s cool. they have pastries and sandwiches. The music they play inside is good, but a little generic(the strokes, mumford and sons, morrissey). it’s in an office building or something like that and it totally has that vibe. you could do worse but if you like funky places and aren’t jonesing for coffee hold out and go somewhere else.

X marks the spot at the Cedar-Riverside intersection! Mapps is a solid coffee shop with plenty of reasonably priced drinks(maybe somewhere between the $ 2 to $ 5 range). I think their baked goods are a lot better than most coffee joints, especially their breads. Regarding the space, there’s ample seating and cool framed maps that hang on the walls.(So, that’s what South American looks like.) Patrons range from students to those residing in West Bank. I love how diverse it is! While I would love to give Mapps more stars, there are two things that I think they could improve upon: 1) I think the drinks are just okay. For example, although I am no chai expert, I found it to be really watery and could’ve used a bit more spice. The mochas seem more solid, though. 2) The service is inconsistent. Sometimes a drink will come out blazing fast. Other times it’ll take a crawling ten minutes, even when no one is in the shop. I would consider Mapps as a spot for meetings, but I wouldn’t drop by unless it was convenient.

Extremely bad coffee. Like so bad I didn’t drink it. One star for the big comfy couch with a window view. One star for wireless and friendly service. But the coffee– horrible.

Their standard coffee is excellent, although the large size can be emotionally overwhelming. It’s huge, and in a circular cup that, at first glance, appears to approximate the circumference of the earth. Right now I’m sitting here and four people behind me are discussing the pros and cons of a marketing class that has yet to begin. What more could you ask for from a coffee shop within a stone’s throw of four grad programs? Great place to drop in or have a meeting.

Cute café, long hours, and the barista(guy) is fantastic. Plus they have almond milk! Get the Cinnamon Chip Frappé — you won’t regret it.

Very rich expresso. The Mapps expresso with a shot of chocolate is delicious and a perfect wake you up. The only disappointing thing is that there really wasn’t a ton of food options. I settled on a veggie hummus croisant sandwich which was delicious but it was only one of three sandwich choices. If they had more food for lunch I’d come more often, especially for the quiet coffeehouse atmosphere.

Fabulous Chai ! I really love this place, and the staff are always very sweet and know their stuff. The chai is great! it’s spicy enough for me, good bite of cloves… I’m also loving their cinnamon hot chocolate! Coffee lovers will also adore the place, freshly ground beans, and an ample supply of espresso drinks. Excellent!

As I sit here at Mapps, I might as well write a review. One star for the decent coffee prices. $ 3 for a Miel ain’t bad(yea I like girly coffees. Bite me). Two stars because the Miel actually tastes awesome. Perfect temperature, not too sweet, big mug. Three stars for the outlets. I have 4 of them right behind me. A little excessive but the more the merrier. I’ll bring a toaster oven with me next time. Four stars for the plentiful tables. Why not five? Lots of other places just like it in the cities.

The coffee here is really good. It also seems to be super caffeinated. The atmosphere is okay, the tables are packed together and it smells great. The service is also good, better than in many of the other restaurants around the area. Most of the patrons appear to be students of the surrounding schools(less on the business/law sides and more on the public policy sides). Some days the crowd can be a bit«hip» for my liking. They do validate parking, which is nice if you are making a trip by car to the area specifically for coffee.

I like Mapps. It’s comfy and the people that work there are absolute sweethearts. This makes a good place to meet for study dates/group projects/watch the West Bankers rabble around. They also have nice mixed coffee drinks, I think.
