Supposedly, being an adult means getting rid of those(now) tacky posters that followed you like a shadow since college. Most fellas possessed one of these three posters between the ages of 18 — 22: Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston, Al Pacino shooting a tommy in that infamous scene form Scarface, or John Belushi wearing the«College» sweater. Although I’ve never owned any one of these, I did have my random assortment of posters.(Starry Night, anyone? haha.) There’s a checklist of sorts that supposedly makes a person an adult, which I believe mostly consists of buying stuff. Things like furniture and a car are on this list. Another are frames for any pieces of art you might have collected during the time between the end of college and now. My uncle, who is a well-recognized Vietnamese-American painter, gifted me two beautiful prints half a decade ago. Unfortunately, over the years I’ve failed to get them properly framed. Knowing absolutely nothing about this process, my lady told me about her positive experience with Nash Frame Design that did not reflect the overall rating listed on Unilocal. We decided to make a visit. We brought our works to Nash where a staff member quickly greeted us. We set out our art on a granite counter top, and for an hour, she happily arranged various combinations of frames and mats that would best complement each respective piece. And speaking of art, creating a custom frame for a work is an art in itself. «Gold or light wood frame?» «Pearl white or egg white mat?» «Would you like glass that protects from UV rays?» «That pink is not really pink, but more like a grey-pink that’s white with pink undertones.» If I own a house in the future, I will be sure to hire her for all my decorating needs. I believe she holds a PhD in Color Accuracy and Spatial Arrangements from a recognized institution somewhere in Paris or New York. Probably not, but she might as well. As for the cost for one custom, it really depends on the size. Obviously, larger ones require more material(which also varies in cost) making it more expensive. Nonetheless, our estimates ranged from $ 250 to $ 700. Ouch. We didn’t get anything framed, but we left educated and with our eyes strained. I felt like I watched a two-hour documentary on Netflix.(Has anyone watched the documentary called Word Play? It’s about crossword puzzles, and it’s amazing.) Visiting Nash was a great experience, although, I think our time would have been more effective if we were asked how much we initially planned to spend. That would have helped narrow the choices and made for an easier selection. It would have also helped if the information told to us was better organized, because towards the end of our consultation, I felt a bit overwhelmed. Nash could have done some things better to have me swipe my credit card. Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait a while before I mount one of my uncle’s pieces on my living room wall.

Called on Sunday to get a price quote on a piece of glass. They weren’t technically open but fold us to come in and that they would help us out. Reasonable price and great service!

This review is in regards to their customer service, NOT the quality of their frames. My wife and I went in this past weekend to buy a small 5×8 frame to put a picture of our cocker spaniel who recently passed away. It was pretty busy when we walked in, so we started browsing while we waited. After about 15 minutes with no one so much as acknowledging our presence, we stood in line to be helped. There were 4 women working that day, two helping the same group, one helping another customer, and the fourth seemed to be new and not really doing anything. We had since picked out a small frame and just wanted to pay for it and get out(most others needed assistance with custom framing). We asked one of the women if we could just pay, and she said«after I’m done helping this customer». This wouldn’t be so bad if we hadn’t arrived before this person, but apparently that’s not how this shop operates. All in all a pretty bad experience. I would recommend they acknowledge their customers and at a minimum, say something along the lines of «we’re really busy right now, we’ll get to you just as soon as we can». Definitely not going back.
