Will never go back. The regulars are obnoxious jerks and the staff seems helpless or unwilling to change that. I would give this place a zero if I could. The neighborhood has better places to spend your money, so don’t even stop here.

I have visited NE Palace for many years. I have continued to enjoy the changes they have made. Unfortunately, tonight I experienced my second time where the regular clientele was rude and demanding of other patrons, with support of the staff. Tonight I was told by a patron that I was attempting to take their money. I walked up to the jukebox to just look at what music was available. A local patron no where near the jukebox said I was stealing her credits. I had no knowledge of the credits in the machine, yet management let her abuse me for no reason. This has happened previously. I recommend that if you are not a regular to this establishment that you stay away. Fool me once… and then again… third time will not happen. You have been warned.

Super rude bartender… there’s a reason why every other bar in northeast is full and there’s 8 people in your restaurant… get a clue… if I could 0 star I would and I most certainly will never ever be back

The place smells. I have not eaten here as I could barely finish my drink due to the overwhelming smell of what I can only assume was vomit. If the place didn’t have such a repulsive odor, I definitely would have given it a couple more stars.

This is a really divey bar that you’d go to knowing full well it’s a dive bar. The people are questionable — the drinks are cheap and the karaōke is bad. But b/c of all of this it’s a fun place to go to and just totally not care at all what is going on around you. Just go and rock out and have a great time!

As already stated. Dive bar. Cheap drinks. Questionable characters that are actually very friendly and interesting. Generally good tunes. Yay! I’m a fan.

Obviously a dive bar, cheap drinks, a little stinky, like a wet basement, the booths lean uncomfortably. And I don’t even know if they serve food. Surprisingly nice patio which is unfortunately used mainly for smokers. BUT I’ve always had a fabulous time here. The karaōke is why I come, yet it’s not the highlight for everyone, which is what makes it extra great in my opinion. It’s a small bar and low pressure setting. So unlike Vegas Lounge, you don’t have to wait for an hour to perform, you can pick super ridiculous songs, and you don’t have to sing well. The last time I went to the palace, these were my selections: 1. Crocodile Rock by Elton John 2. Under the Sea(from the Little Mermaid, in Sebastian’s voice) 3. Put a Ring On It, with another random girl at the bar, taking over for my male friends who realized too late they didn’t know any of the lyrics 4. Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash(in the deepest drawl I could muster) Best place in NE to end the night!

Defiantly a dive bar — great people, not so great décor — patio is nice though

Came here for a friends bday party on a Saturday night. Typical neighborhood bar. It was pretty busy, had karaōke and the typical NE crowd I would expect. We stuck to the nice large patio for the most part. Good people watching and there was no trouble from anybody. The men’s room has an interesting sink that I’ve seen pictures of similar ones on the interweb. Not sure why a lot of reviewers call this place cheap. I was paying $ 4 for bottles of Premium. Not expensive, but not cheap either.

The Palace is the place you go when you don’t want to remember anything. The drinks are dirt cheap… I think I remember saying«$ 15 for 4 drinks? wow» I was so impressed I gave the bartender a $ 5 tip, like it was up to them. It is very small but not unwelcoming at all. The exterior throws you off a little bit and makes you think«what the heck goes on there?» well it’s just a tiny dive bar on a corner in the NE neighborhood with live music and karaōke some nights too. Don’t worry, there aren’t any paid dancers that I know of going on here… just some neighborhood people looking to get a cheap drink on Lowry. Who’s to blame?

Among my very favorite dive joints and criminally underrated around town. Thus, a well kept secret. The bartender dudes are straight cool, the porch is spacious, the décor is like a cool movie(nothing beats the neon except perhaps the mens sink) ala David Lynch, and the clientel is so random the people watching rocks.

If you’re into the stench of vomit, I’d suggest this place. I suppose it doesn’t really matter when you’re drunk by the time you arrive. This isn’t exactly the place you start your night, and it isn’t really the place you remember ending your night either. With all the bars Northeast it’s like every night is a pub crawl and this is always the last stop if you make it to it at all. It’s not terrible. It’s fine– if you can get past the puke stench. On the bright side, there’s always someone making a fool of themselves during Karaōke, the prices are okay I think, and there’s enough space to kill some time until more room opens up at Tony Jaro’s River Garden. And for the record– this is NOT typical for N.E. When I think of N.E. I think of Art-A-Whirl. When I think of this place, I think of pounding a bunch of beer before hopping on the Tilt– A –Whirl. It sounded like a good idea until you, and everyone else you were with, got green in the face and threw up.

*note: Every time I have been here, I have arrived already drunk. This is a very unique Northeast bar, filled with white guys in backwards Twins hats and over sized white shirts and the women who love them. There is karaōke which can be fun to watch at 1:00am on a Friday. Head out to the patio, where you will be met with a maze of ceramic vases, flowers and fountains. The experience would be similar to breaking into the garden area of Menard’s after a night of old fashion heavy drinking. The people on the patio will be fighting very loudly about domestic issues, sex with friends and sports, this I can assure you. The prices are good, from what I can remember as is any NE bar. It’s a good time, if you can handle it.

The overwhelming smell of orange GoJo sets the scene for this bar. Every table is dilapidated and tipping to one side. The décor is minimal and… old. It might fall apart at any moment. A spring might shoot up out of the comfy old seat at any moment. But I like it. I might be biased because I victimized the whole bar with my first attempted at karaōke. It’s a comfortable atmosphere were you don’t have to put a show on. It’s laid back and accepting of all who cometh. Prices aren’t too shabby.

It’s not every day that a bar let’s you create your own game of tippy cup(not flippy cup!) right in the middle of the bar. Well done NE Palace, well done.

A friend and I visited this bar on a road trip to Minneapolis a while back. The bartender told us it had been there a very long time and used to be called«First Chance, Last Chance» because it was the first chance for a drink if you were coming in to town and the last chance for a drink while leaving town. We stayed inside to drink, and had the place pretty much to ourselves as the bartender went back out to the patio. We attempted to play some pool, but we were so lit that after about 10 minutes neither of us had sunk a ball so we called it quits. After that a drunk girl came in from the patio and started dancing with us and grinding us to try to piss off her date, who was out on the patio. Eventually we went outside and discovered that the patio kicks ass. It has a beautiful waterfall as the centerpiece. No wonder the bartender wanted to stay out here. The guy the girl from earlier was trying to make jealous didn’t care and simply suggested that we ought to shower and burn our clothes as soon as possible. This was a good, drunken time! :)

I have a new bar on my list of favorite stops! We went in last night for some late night cocktails and had a rockin’ good time. They had karaōke, and everyone partaking was killing their songs and really putting on a good show. The host was a super nice guy and the bartenders were great too. Strangers were smiling and singing together. Very friendly people frequent the NE Palace, I’m sure that my subsequent visits will prove it. Not that that’s at all uncommon in NE, but I like to call it out when I see it. Drinks are also very cheap here — 3 vodka sodas and a beer were about $ 16. The vibe of the whole place was really great, a very fun and welcome environment. I’ll be back for sure.

Is this the place where people were drinking out of fishbowls and singing karaōke? Maybe it was the Knightcap? Did we make it there even? If so, this place ROCKED.

Ok here is the skinny. It’s in NE, duh. Probably no other place in the city can you go from Hank Williams Jr. to Bob Marley, to Metallica’a first album and back and most people in the joint liken all three. Also they had the game on. Alas not the Vikings game, but hey the TV’s were still nice. Not too many, but enough to check the score. A burger and 4 summits without tip were all less than $ 20. The burger was pretty damn good too. I’m pretty sure we got them on some sort of 241 special on the beer. Well i know we did cause the bartender told us. She was nice. In fact the guy who asked us to move from our table so they could play poker was very nice and professional as well. Can’t wait to go back. Don’t know if they ever have live music, but it would be nice to play this joint.
