This place is amazing! I brought my bike in purely to get it tuned up(disclaimer: I am a beginner biker who bought my first road bike off craigslist), and Phil immediately assessed it was slightly too big. I was hesitant to buy a new bike after just purchasing a bike last year, so Phil discussed possible ways I could adjust the bike to solve shoulder fatigue. He offered to let me try an almost new bike that was my size before putting investment into my current bike. I took it right away for a 30 minute trial, and found he was 100% right. After purchasing the bike at a discount and buying new bike shoes, Phil and team spiffed up my new bike, transferred everything over from my old bike to my new bike and let me know to come back for a new bike consultation in a couple weeks. Everyone who worked there was so patient, explanatory and helpful. This is now my go to bike shop!

A few of the workers here are not very Minnesota nice and if they think that they are they just might be delusional. They acted so pretentious when I would ask them about products. I might have been experiencing culture shock. Minnesota is a real mystery to outsiders. MNPLS is just so far out of the way when considering the locations of other metros. This just might be the perfect storm to make way for a few not all residents to become socially inept to the rest of the US of A.

Andy introduced himself immediately and then did an excellent job of telling me about One on One Bicycle Studio. I felt very welcome. He was very knowledgeable about all of the subjects, bikes, we discussed. Oscar, my dog, was treated well too. Job well done!

Love this place, period. Staff is always friendly, and quick! Coffee, cold press, macchiatos etc… Always made to order and I’ve never once had an issue with the quality or quantity. Really good rewards/incentive program for avid coffee drinkers. Cookies are a great pick up on the go as well.

Here’s the thing: the Minneapolis local bike shop(LBS) community on the whole is amazing. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve come in for little problems and asked«what do I owe you?» only to hear a cheerful«don’t worry about it» in reply. Why? I assume it’s partly because they’re great people, but it’s also because they know that building that relationship means that the next time I need a part, I’m calling them up instead of clicking«buy» on Amazon. When I get geared up to do some work on my bike and start wondering if I really have the time, my next thought is «well, I can save the time and give my LBS some business!» Bikes are a long-term commitment and good bike shops know that and treat members of their community accordingly. It’s great. Unfortunately my experience with 1×1 was nothing like I’d come to expect from LBS in the Cities. Walking in and asking«hey, can I borrow a socket wrench real quick and buy some brakes off you?» has never been the kind of request I’d expect to see met with suspicion and annoyance. They were more worried about whether I was standing in the right place or might be putting my bike somewhere they didn’t want it than how they could help someone who was obviously a new customer and didn’t understand the layout of their shop. And once I’d finished with the wrench, they didn’t even bother to follow up on selling me the brakes — so I didn’t bother either. I’ll buy them from a shop that cares.

This place definitely had the feel of a male oriented bike shop. Bison and other animals on the wall, with male bike shorts etc. I went here for a friend chat and got a raspberry Italian soda and coconut cookie dipped in chocolate that was amazing. The barista was also really nice and didn’t mind we took a while to decide. The inside of the coffee shop is cool with bikes lined up in a top ledge and a half wall separating the coffee space with the bike gear. They have sandwiches and soups for food so if it were closer to work I would definitely come here. But they also offer breakfast burritos. Big plus. The merchandise in the bike area is pricey. Nothing less than $ 160 for bike bags and carryalls because it’s all made by Brooks Brothers. Besides the price it’s also clearly not geared for women or even gender neutral. Really unfortunate since it’s close enough to walk to from work and j was looking to buy a new saddle. At least the food was good.

Geno, the owner, is amazing! He took a ton of time helping me out, and gave me a great deal. Everyone at the shop is super positive and helpful. I’d recommend going here always.

Don’t mess with the best I commute to downtown on my bike. Imagine my horror when my bike started malfunctioning on me. I’m the sort of guy that«could» work on my bike but is often too lazy/busy to do so and prefer to leave it up to the experts. The folks over at OoOBS were consummate pros and charged a shockingly small amount for the quality work they did on my bicycle. Unlike a lot of bike shops of this«caliber» there is no judgment here — at other places you often get the impression that you aren’t worth the time or effort for customer service, but these guys don’t let their mastery of the bicycle arts prevent them from being easygoing. Bear in mind that the place gets pretty busy and that it may take them a while to get to your bike. This said, you can rest assured that the job will be done correctly and carefully. Protip: roll up to the service area/shop through the alley behind the shop. They don’t love it when people wheel their bikes through the café.

Life saver! Blowed tire while biking along the river! Quick call and a short walk(thank you IPhone) brought me here. Out back the technician took off the bike he was working on, tossed mine on the stand and had me back on the road in less than 10 minutes. Gave me time to look through this great shop I had never set foot in! A little tip and back out riding. I will come back to buy something some day. They have coffee, snacks and some very cool bikes! Whenever I am in the North Loop I find myself at One on One for a coffee because of their incredibly friendly and accommodating staff, their great coffee and comfortable atmosphere. It’s easy to get work done in this environment and I would recommend it to anyone who happens to be meandering through the North Loop.

I just moved into this neighborhood from NYC and work here as well. I have been to this store twice, and both times treated like I was annoyance. Good place for coffee, but stay away from the dudes with attitude in the back. Spend your cash at a local business that embraces it’s community.

Stopped in after work to replace a spoke on my rear wheel. No one made them self available to me for a good 15 mins even after trying to solicit help from several employees. Eventually I cornered a mechanic and was told the cost of labor would be $ 20 – 40 to fix my spoke. Since my wheels were fairly old, I opted to buy a new wheel. Two weeks later it became apparent the spokes on the new wheel were completely loose. The wheel was so untrue that my tire rubbed against my bike frame. The manager informed me that my wheel was machine built and this defect occurs in 50% of the wheels he sells.

I had no idea what I wanted other than something with two wheels and without a motor. Mario helped me find a used bike I love! Great shop and excellent selection of used bikes and parts.

Simple cold and hot sandwiches. Outstanding soups. And, very much the downtown quick dining experience. BTW, don’t forget to buy a bike before leaving!

I’m completely new to the bike scene, and I stopped in One on One to look for a new bike. I had done a lot of research beforehand, and I had looked at a few other shops that gave me great advice and helped me figure out what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience at One on One — the staff did not listen to me at all, and overall I felt like I was being judged. One on One had a nice atmosphere with a decent bike selection(with most of their stock in the basement). However, most of the bikes were very overpriced, and even when I told them my budget, they avidly kept trying to sell me more expensive bikes. I also told them what kind of bike I was looking for(a hybrid/commuter with several speeds), and they kept showing me single-speed bikes, cruisers, and even a mountain bike. Even though I specifically told them that wasn’t what I wanted and why, they would just scoff and continue trying to sell me a product I wasn’t interested in. I did end up testing some bikes just because I felt bad that they had spent so much time trying to sell them to me, and that was a good experience — the shop is located right by the Mississippi River bike trail, and you are free to test the bikes on there. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience — there are a lot of other bike shops in the Twin Cities that offer lower-cost bikes and much better service(aka staff that actually listens to what you are saying), and I would recommend any of those shops over One on One. I definitely will not be visiting here again.

This place is great. I bought my first bike there and know nothing about bikes. A very nice man helped me and didn’t judge me at all for being a noob! He also kept my budget in mind and offered me an insane deal on a brand new Bianchi because he really wanted me to find a bike that fit me(I am very short!) He spent an entire hour helping me find the right size, answering my questions and giving me biking advice. Really great place with excellent customer service. I highly recommend for any level of biker. To find the place, you need to go around back to the alley.

Pretty awesome place. Admittedly, it can seem daunting to a novice, walking around that cavernous lower level of used bikes, but the people working here take a genuine interest in their clients. Plus, it’s a café. With good coffee. I hate that I have to point that out, but there are too many trendy cafes with crap for coffee. Anyway: I bought a floor model bike for around half what it would have cost new, last year’s model, and I couldn’t be happier. I’m new to this, and honestly, I’ll never be the guy spending 3k on a bike anyway. This was a killer find, right in my budget, and for a bike that will hold its value should I ever decide to upgrade(or become lazy again). The salesman helped me get a great value for my dollar, and didn’t try to upsell me on crap I didn’t need or understand. Case in point: The rear brake was squeaky. Rather than sell me new ones on the spot, he said to use them(they work perfectly fine, after all) and then when it comes time to replace, consider an upgrade then if you want. It felt good to know they weren’t taking advantage of my ignorance and spent as much time as I needed answering questions.

Awesome service. Make sure to bring your bike to the back though, I’m one of the many that have made the mistake of trying the front door first. A mechanic did a quick overview of what my bike required: seat adjustment, tune up, and assessed ergonomic factors that could improve my riding experience. I dropped my bike off then received a call when it was ready a few days later. Another time I stopped by for a handlebar cap, a mechanic pounded a spare they had at no charge. Also a nice older gentleman filled my tires and gave me some extra tire caps. Quality and friendly service. On other occasions I’ve come to browse the artwork during ArtCrank. I think factors such as ArtCrank and the synergy they have going on with Handsome right next door helps make One on One a unique place.
