A beautiful historic building. Great place to see a play. Food and drink are insanely priced, so we suggest eating before your show.

Just plain bad. Way to much money! Poor story. Hippocrates in the audience. Laughing at poor humor. Must be for the young followers that can’t think for themselves!

Worst organization ever. How can you mess up a line for the guy’s bathroom? Idk, but the oprheum did. It’s absolutely terrible

What a gem! Classically redone, beautiful, ornate detail, and excellent concourses for crowd throughput. Great sight lines, comfy seating. A treasure of the Twin Cities!

Great old time theater. Wish there was a bit more leg room, but… great shows and great staff. The Twin Cities is fortunate to have great theaters and and a great scene. The Orpheum is the place to see many shows on tour from NY

This theatre is absolutely stunning inside. Be aware, the seats are fairly standard theatre size with little leg room. I have yet to see a bad show here or have a truly terrible view. The drinks are a bit pricey but what you expect when seeing a show. Wonderful staff who let their personality shine will help you find your seat and direct you around the theatre.

The security guard snapped at me for bringing in «outside food or beverage»…aka a water bottle full of tap water.

The low rating is more so for the guest experience. We saw PIPPIN and the show was phenomenal with a great cast and story! However, the employees suck. Their rude attitudes and mean stares as you wait make it seem like they don’t even want you there. Good job traveling cast, employees, get a different job.

This is a beautiful, ornate old theater. It has what looks to be, newer chairs with red velvet on them. Seems comfy at first. Not so much an hour into the show. Getting seated was tricky to say the least. The stairs are STEEP!!! Holy smokes!!! I have bad knees and needed an arm to help me both up and down them. But even without the bad knees, sheesh. There is NORAILING in the middle. How steep are they? One older lady FELLDOWNTHEM and needed help up. So uncomfortable during the show. Thank goodness there was an intermission, because halfway through the show, my butt was numb and so were my legs. Just no wiggle room at all. We were in the balcony, while the view was good, sound was not. I think we missed about ½ the dialogue from the cast. It was a well put on show that we all enjoyed, but it would have been much better had we been more comfortable and could hear better. At first I thought it was just me not hearing everything, but my 24 yr. old couldn’t hear well either. So, will I go back? Yes, if I sit on the first floor and NOT in the balcony!

This is a wonderful place to go to catch a good show. They play mostly musicals and concerts. The inside is beautiful. I love coming here when they are playing something or have someone there I like.

I don’t think I have seen a bad show here ever! They bring in some big Broadway shows like Pippin, The Lion King, Wicked, Avenue Q and Motown, all of which I saw here. I typically sit in the cheaper seats towards the top and still have great views. If you are a tall person or like to cross your legs, the cheap seats are a bit close together. I have also seen many concerts, and comedy acts here as well, and the acoustics are great. A few times I was able to wait in line and get student rush tickets. You need to get there a few hours before the show and they release what tickets are left for $ 20 to students, max 2. I have sat down on the floor numerous times, for only $ 20 and had a great time! The theater is well kept up and the paintings on the ceilings are detailed. I think the best part is the giant chandelier in the center of the Orpheum. It’s gorgeous!

We came here to see«Book of Mormons» and it started right on time. So we were lucky that we were seated just before the music started. Anyways, we lucked out with really nice seats. The whole production was fantastic and there was not a bad seat in the house. Getting to the bathroom was a bit frantic going up and down stairs but manageable. There was a small gift shop but I didn’t get anything. Prices were high but hey, it’s a Broadway show. You might catch a discount through Goldstar but don’t count on it. I hope the Orpheum keeps on getting good shows like«Mormon» since we will come back for more.

Somehow, I mistakenly made my ticket reservation for December 23rd, for Motown the Musical, and upon receiving an email saying«review the show!» I checked my tickets… and I had missed the show. My original reservation was supposed to be for December 28th, NOT the 23rd, and somehow, technology failed me. I almost had a panic attack until the woman from the Orpheum spoke with me on the phone and calmed me down. Thank goodness for their re-seating policy for missed shows, etc!!! We came to the theater on Sunday, at 11am and explained what happened. The woman in the box office helped us out and gave us great seats… it was amazing it all worked out. Thank you, Orpheum, for being so understanding! It was my partner’s Christmas present and could have been a huge«uh-oh,» but you understood, and we had a wonderful time. :)

Attended the Motown play on Dec 21 evening performance with a friend. Sat in first balcony L2. The amplification and sound quality was so poor we almost left. From the very first note from the pit orchestra, the sound was so loud and distorted that it hit the pain threshold frequently throughout the show including some of the women’s voices. We understood about a third of the dialogue due to the sound distortion. The show would have been phenomenal if only we weren’t wincing in pain or struggling to understand the dialogue. The smart people in the orchestra seemed to enjoy the show so one can only assume the sound was OK at that level. The sound engineer should do a decibel check before the show for all patrons. I’d recommend NOT sitting in the balcony.

Not that I’ve been in every theater in the TC but this one is my favorite. It’s just so pretty. I always manage to get good seats. The bar service is efficient and they make decent drinks to top it off. I only wish they had more bathrooms. The line for the ladies is always soooooooooooooooooooooooo long.

I’ve been to quite a few shows here. They always do grand productions. They are great at bringing entertaining pieces of work and producing them. I love the layout of the place. The place appears to be well-kept and well maintained. I am also pleased that a person can sit anywhere in the place and have a good seat. I can sit in nosebleeds, and I’d still be able to see the stage pretty well. The admittance line always flows by quickly. That way I don’t have to wait in line for very long. The only thing I would change is adding a couple more bathrooms there. Nonetheless, I will continue going there to see their new productions.

The Orpheum is a really nice older theater… it’s got that great lit-up marquee out front and is really beautiful and ornate inside. The bar in the lobby was plenty serviceable. Most drinks ran $ 7 or $ 8, which was not awesome, but we certainly pay that much at other places, so not surprising, right I was pleased that the staff was very relaxed about people bringing drinks into the theater. My only real gripe was the seats. I know — it’s an old theater. The seats were those lovely red-velour covered type seats that are perfect in an old theater. But they are small. They are uncomfortable. They offer pretty much zero back support(a problem if you have back issues like I do). The show we were seeing was pretty short — maybe an hour and a half all told. And by the end, I was shifting around pretty continuously to try to find a comfortable position. Staff was pretty friendly and very helpful, guiding people to the right part of the theater and getting them into their seats. Lighting and sound were fine, just what you’d expect in a theater that hosts traveling Broadway shows and other professional productions. In all, a very nice venue minus the seat issue.

Saw Amy Schumer last night. She made a comment about the guys from the muppets being in their booth– that was pretty gelatinous because it does look like the muppet theatre. Other than the tremendous amount of people everywhere– they were super good about helping you to your seat. Even though it’s historic and all, the seating is extremely intimate. You’re fighting for an arm rest half the time and there’s nowhere to put your belongings. They kept it authentic though– which is important! Go minneapolis!

This is a beautiful theater that hosts all the biggest shows in town. The seats are comfy and legroom isn’t too bad. There are snacks and drinks available for purchase and consumption at your seat but, of course, the prices are quite steep. They have drinking fountains available if you just need a sip of water. My only complaint is the womens restroom situation. Expect a terribly long wait to go and if you go during intermission you may miss some of the second half. If you are pregnant and going to see a show here — god help you as you may pee yourself waiting in the ridiculous line. Tip: restaurants in the area(like Solera) often have post-show specials that you can obtain with your tickets

Based purely on aesthetics, the Orpheum is a great place to catch a show. It has come a long way since its vaudeville origins, but it still retains its old-world charm and sophistication even as the theater’s age nears the century mark. Not all is perfect with the Orpheum, as the main floor is minimally inclined, which can make it a challenge to see over the person in front of you. Also, the bathrooms have a tendency to become a prized commodity when there’s a full house, but these things are easily overshadowed by the classic architecture and quality bookings that the Orpheum is able to attract. The Orpheum attracts many types of acts; from Broadway performances to stand-up comedy, and it’s always been a great venue regardless of what’s on the playbill.
