Thank goodness Minneapolis finally got this boutique! Lived in Fargo where the original location was and so glad this one followed. Love the merchandise and it’s priced reasonably! Would recommend!

Proper and Prim opened up in my neighborhood and I love their space, however, they have some style challenges. Sizing is only up to a size 10 and the Glamazon sizing are for those who are very tall. They sell items that trend, but don’t last, in other words, you will find no classic pieces here, but flashes of disposable clothing. The accessories sold here are not of the Fashionista variety… sunglasses, were clearly fashion inspired, but not too original and made in a forced labor factory in a third world nation. Somebody wanted a store and they made one here but it would have been a lot cooler if the owners designed their own clothing… instead of just resellers. The sad part of this story is that traffic is not great, but I will say they are very warm and welcoming and quite possibly should look at the size vs money demographic of this area and take into account that the average height and weight of a woman who has the capital to buy fashion products… well, that should be your market if you want to stay in business.

This boutique has been a wonderful addition to the Lyn-Lake neighborhood. Ashlie, if you will pardon my French, knows her shit when it comes to both clothing and customer service. The store’s assortment is totally trendy and on-point, and also tremendously affordable within the world of local boutiques. I find her stock extremely wearable, and she has a pretty broad variety of styles represented, from boho, to minimalist, to tomboy, and even sportswear-inspired pieces. It’s definitely hyper-trendy, but in that sense, it fills a unique niche that’s not just H&M or F21 fast fashion you’ll feel guilty for buying. The store’s layout and décor is nicely minimal, easily shoppable, and inviting. Ashlie herself is incredibly sweet and friendly, and gives just the right amount of attention to her customers. Not too much, not too little. She’s so approachable that you always feel at ease asking questions or just having a friendly chat.

I had no idea Proper & Prim existed – I came to the area to go to Pharmacie, to be honest, but it was closed unexpectedly for the day. Glad I found this little gem! First of all, there’s a(small) parking lot. A parking lot! In this busy part of town, I can’t thank the gods enough. The clothing/accessories selection is small in a good way – nicely edited, with unique, quality pieces. And the prices are great – not so low that you’ll probably only get a wear or two out of something, but not too high, either. You could easily snag a few pieces at a time and not regret the grand total. Also worth mentioning: the owner is so friendly and helpful!

Cute boutique that I stumbled across on my way to Muddy Water’s. Sometimes in smaller stores and boutiques you get the poor, «cold shoulder» service or the obnoxiously attentive, «hawk eye» service. Proper & Prim was just right. Great customer service, I did not get her name, but the blonde woman that was working at the time was friendly and helpful. Love that it’s a boutique because it’s nice to find something you really love and not feel like you will see 8 other people wearing it. Smaller selections but still enough sizes stocked and it seems that they would be more than happy to help order something or assist you in finding something similar. I will definitely be back here. My girl friend and I both got a lot of compliments on our dresses.

I’m a fashion dunce. So, take my two cents on this topic with a grain of salt. Proper & Prim joins LynLake from Fargo, the fashion capital of North Dakota. Run by a pair of two seemingly lovely sisters, this boutique offers trendy(to the extent that I don’t think many of these pieces will be cool to wear this time next year), fun pieces at affordable prices in a wide variety of styles from feminine to edgy. I thought a lot of these pieces were show stoppers, something that would make you stand out in the crowd – not in a freak show way, but more in a fashion-is-how-I-express-myself way. The boutique offered an abundance of articles with cuts outs – that must be a thing this year – swatches of fabric removed from the sides of dresses, necklines of blouses, backs and shoulders of tees. I couldn’t see myself wearing some of these pieces on a day-to-day basis, not wholly practical(but, then again, I think I’ve been wearing the same pair of tattered jorts consecutively for the past two weeks). Even for the once-in-a-blue moon occasion that I attempt to amp up my cuteness, I’m still not certain I’d be able to flaunt these pieces properly to do them justice. I just don’t got that style chutzpah(my problem, not Proper & Prim’s), but some of you Uptown/Whittier ladies sure do! A note to fellow vertically-challenged women, we are not the target audience as XS/petite is virtually non-existent here. Tip! Swing by World Street Kitchen, just a few shuffles away from the boutique, post-shopping spree. I caution against a pre-shopping feast at WSK – food babies are simply not conducive to making judgments on a cute summer dress with belly cut outs.
