BUY from ADTDIRECT, not from any fly-by-night reseller like Protect Your Home. They called me under the name DEFENDER. Terrible customer service. I’ve had a horrible experience with this company. Almost immediately the equipment had alarm triggers for bad batteries, and they said they’d come and fix it but didn’t. They would schedule an appointment and nobody would show up. Every time I would call, they had no record of any previous call. Less than a year after purchasing it, we just unplugged it and stopped using it, and went to ADT proper, and they gave us the name of a local repair company. So we went around DEFENDER/PYH to get it fixed. Worse, ADT proper suggested that I call them and cancel my service with Defender/PYH. So I spent a week on the phone trying to cancel my service and whenever I told Defender/PYH that I wanted to cancel, they put me on hold and left me there. So I was unsuccessful at canceling my service. Even more, while Defender/PYH has NORECORD of any of our 20+ calls for assistance, they incorrectly have record of coming into our home and installing ADDITIONALEQUIPMENT, which we do not have. So we’re stuck in a contract with a HORRIBLE company, we have a security system that DOESNOTPROVIDESECURITY to our home.(Please don’t rob me for saying that.) Somewhere in the process, we complained enough that they granted us 3 mos. free service to make up for the [first 3 months] that we didn’t have a working security system, but they’ve since forgotten that and have no record of said agreement. I HATE this company. The people are rude. The service is bad. The product does not work. The reason for hiring them is not fulfilled. Last bad thing. When I hired them, the represented themselves as ADT security. I didn’t even know until after I engaged them that I was not working with the REALADT. So we filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and found that there are MANY similar complaints. Stick with the REAL companies, not the resellers. Shame on you ADT for letting these guys represent you. My new home security plan is to dig a hole in the back yard and throw money into it once a month, and pray that nobody ever breaks into my home. At least then I’ll get what I expect.
