The Rail Station will always have a special place in my heart. The food isn’t great but the drinks are strong and the service is quick and friendly. The crowd is diverse and there are no snobs allowed. I have been here several times. I can’t give it 5 stars or even 4 because the food is just so average. But average food fills the tummy. Go here for a beer and a laugh.

Friendly neighborhood bar. Full liquor license and they serve a full food menu as well. Drink prices are on the low end, I think their special cosmo was $ 5.50. Great outdoor patio. As of this writing, Minnehaha Avenue is all torn up so the patio is nice and quiet, no street noise. And make a point to come on in, they’re probably hurting because of the construction and could use your business. I know I’ll be back!

Stopped in here for the first time to have some happy hour fare. Ordered a good brown ale and apps of potato skins, fried mushrooms, and hoisin wings. All very good but really loved the fresh beer battered mushrooms! Potato skins also made from scratch. Will come back next time in the area. :)

I am so relieved/happy to have found a bar/restaurant that caters to those that work overnight shifts. I came into the Rail Station this morning at 8am after my last shift for the week. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they not only serve alcohol in the morning, but they have a HAPPYHOUR from 8am to 10:30am too! The breakfast was phenomenal and perfectly priced. The bartender was amazing. I couldn’t have been happier. This will be my new after work bar from now on. Thanks Rail Station staff for a great morning!

Great neighborhood bar. Convenient location and they serve alcohol on the south side on Minneapolis. They have good food, good selections of beer, and it’s like a friendly bar you’d find up north and not in the city. It’s most definitely a sports bar — they have like a MILLION tv’s all over the place. The wait staff is good — The layout is almost too crowded so I’ve noticed it’s hard for them to navigate between tables when it’s super busy. I’ve also noticed slow service sometimes when it’s busy — not to the fault of the servers, I just think they’re understaffed at some times, or they get slammed and weren’t prepared. It’s totally a go-to bar for us southsiders.

I love the Rail for what it is — a dive bar. It’s got everything: cheap drinks, pull tabs, slightly seedy crowd and fried food.

I hate to lower my rating because I have always been such a fan of this place to the annoyance of my friends who begrudgingly accompany me to the wrong side of the river, but over the last year or so, I have noticed a change. Today, after house hunting with my sister in the Longfellow and Standish neighborhoods, I dragged her here to eat. I had Eggs Benedict and she had the«special» which was like a benedict but instead of English muffin, it was over hashbrowns. I am very picky about my hollandaise sauce and I should have known better but this was not homemade. It had to be from a mix. It wasn’t that nice light yellow color; it was more of a mustard color and it was too thick. My bad I guess; I should have asked, but that wasn’t the only subpar item. The hashbrowns were greasy and the eggs almost too runny. It just wasn’t good. I should have stuck with a burger but the last time I had eaten here, the burger was not that great either. The Buffalo wings used to be amazing and the last time I was there, someone ordered them and yep, you guessed it, they too were not so good anymore… I just feel the food is not prepared with as much TLC as it used to be. Also, I like real cold cream with my coffee, not those little creamers in the plastic hat looking containers. Maybe I am just too spoiled with all the other farm to table, fresh ingredients, places I have been to lately… I almost felt bad taking my sister here because I had so many better options in a mile radius. Service is always A+. Nothing has changed in that area but SOMETHINGHASCHANGEDWITHTHEFOOD!!! I just want things to be back to the way they used to be!!!

Monday’s can be a drag, right? A little happy hour special can usually brighten the mood. My group of colleagues(all of us new to town) checked out this place after work because of it’s convenience to public transit. We loved the deals on burgers and drinks. Half priced burgers! And those burgers were no joke. This will definitely be a go-to spot when we are feeling the Monday blues.

Hit this place up during an eight hour layover. The service was second to none(Thanks Lucas), the atmosphere was super chill with some nice bar banter between strangers and friends. It has a great«cheers» feel. I would recommend this bar to anyone looking to hit up a bar in minneapolis(longfellow) that wants to go off the beaten path. It’s about a $ 20 taxi from the airport, well worth the money.

If you are looking for great food, drinks, and service. You don’t have to look any further. I have never been disappointed. I’m looking forward to my Birthday in October. Nice cold ” Oktoberfest«beer on the patio. Yes, good times!

The buffalo chicken melt is delicious! But the real reason to come back is for the awesome service. These ladies were absolutely great! They completely surpassed my expectations.

Their breakfast ROCKS!!!(and it’s served till 1pm on weekends!) I’ve been there multiple times and have had the breakfast sandwich which has eggs, cheese, bacon or sausage, and hollandaise sauce all served on a croissant with a side of hashbrowns. I’ve also tried the french toast. Cinnamony and yummy. Their bloody was a bit spicy for my likings, but I may try and ask for it mild next time. No fun garnishes, but who started that trend anyways? It leads to high bloody expectations. Definitely worth a visit for the breakfast hangover cure :)

Rail Station is like your high school boyfriend… if you live in uptown-ish and your choices are broski bars, snooty restaurants, dive-y weirdos, Rail Station is the comfortable, normal bar that you wouldn’t mind bringing your ma to. Are you in love? No. But you can hang out in your sweats, watch the game, stuff your face and hey, no judgement! They have all of the tvs so you can watch the sportball no matter where you sit in the bar. You have free wi-fi. I would not get their brownie sundae it’s crunchy. No really. Crunchy. I know. It takes a special skill but there you go. Their burgers are decent enough, cheese curds more than acceptable, and service is above par. So I say you want to watch the game, you want a bit of atmosphere, you need to grab a bite, come here!

In a nutshell: decent food, but the service left something to be desired. My friends and I went to Rail Station for brunch on a Saturday morning. We were a group of seven, and there was a good-sized crowd throughout the restaurant, but the place was hardly to capacity. Nonetheless, we waited long stretches of time between drink refills and before we were even able to get our order in. I had the South of the Border omelet, which was actually pretty good overall. The coffee was really weak. Three stars is about right for Rail Station. Nothing glaringly awful about it, but nothing remarkable either.

I’ve eaten at this place quite a few times. Every time I come here, it get outstanding service. I see that place is packed almost all the time, whether there’s a sports game going on or not. This is a fun place to go with friends for a good time. The enthusiasm from the crowd makes my visit that much funner for me. The staff seems to get equally enthused. I’m not one to get into any sports games. However, that doesn’t affect the quality of the experience here. When I’m here, I do a toss-up between the hamburger and fries basket or the New York steak. They are both delicious! The staff does a great job at cooking the food and serving it. The waiters always seem to be on top of their game(no pun intended). The food is always served in a timely manner. The staff appears to do a good job at keeping everything clean and organized. Of all the places I’ve ever eaten a hamburger and fries basket, this place is the best for them. Anytime I’m in the area, I will continue coming here with my friends. This place is amazing!

Quality sports and neighborhood dive bar. Many tvs, beers on tap, bar area and seating. Addition of patio is great and rail car is fun! Good for crowds. Also has game nights, bingo, pull tabs. Food has significantly improved since the name change; soups are great and burgers big.

Rail Station is a solid 3 star neighborhood bar. They have a variety of fun events and nightly specials to make going that much more appealing. In addition they have game day specials for food drinks and prize drawings which are an added bonus. It almost reminds me of an American Legion… Mixed crowd, pull tabs, meat raffle and of course karaōke. The space isn’t huge so it can fill up, especially on weekends and during peak hours. Sunday NFL ticket is nice and they do a good job playing a variety of games, not just the Vikes on every TV. I’ve had a few things off the menu, most memorable was surprisingly the pork nachos. Like others have said the service might not blow you away, but at least it’s consistent and everyone gets treated the same. There’s no judging and no one is trying to impress anybody around here, just a comfortable bar to have a drink, play some bar games, watch some sports and enjoy yourself.

Talk about pleasantly surprised! My guy has joked about going here for dinner on an almost weekly basis since we started dating, but then laughs when I agree and says they’re really only worth going to for the cheap drinks. One recent rainy evening when I had some friends over, we were all decidedly hungry for cheap bar food and chose to finally try it out regardless of what I’d been told. We walked there from my place and were disappointed with the weather when we saw their awesome patio. Inside, it was a pretty typical sports bar — but by no means the divey place I had come to expect! First of all, the servers were all awesome. We were greeted by several of them and our table’s actual server was very attentive and nice. I ordered a spicy black bean burger which was pretty typical, most likely a previously frozen patty, but still totally hit the spot. It came with wide, seasoned fries that were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside… super tasty. Oh, and their condiment baskets all have dijon mustard which is not to be overlooked… I appreciate a good mustard without having to ask. Drinks were cheap, as we’d been told, even for a Big Ginger(made with 2 Gingers whiskey)…for a tall, pretty heavy pour, I paid something like $ 4.50 — and it wasn’t even happy hour. Now, I don’t want to mislead you with my four star rating into thinking it’s more than bar food. It’s good bar food, mind you, but bar food nonetheless. Let’s put it this way: it’s definitely a place I can see myself hitting up during football season for a bloody mary and some pre-game cheap brunch fare.

After yet another(I think we are well over 40) night with sub-zero temps and windchills way below the minus 20 range I was a good samaritan and gave some rides to work. That earns the right to have a good breakfast right? The Rail Station opens at 8am and you can about bet that people will be waiting for the doors to open. The menu is very varied with much more than your typical bar food. The breakfast portion is pretty typical diner type though. I opted for the eggs, hash browns, toast order. BIg bonus — PEACE coffee! The food was good and service was alright but I think the waitress was getting tired of our never ending winter. She did keep my coffee topped off which was appreciated. I might have to get back another time to sample some dessert as I noticed they have some items that are served up with Sebastian Joe’s ice cream. I really appreciate when local businesses make a point of teaming up with other local business to showcase the best of what we have and Peace coffee and Sebastian Joe’s are tops!
