They relocated to 3404 Nicollet Ave S, Minneapolis, MN55408– never really had seafood here but the chicken and french fries or rice combo is delicious. They have a signature sweet & sour sauce which is a perfect match up with everything on the menu. Family owned and ran. Been around forever– super friendly! A beacon of the Southside(Minneapolis) when it comes to chicken.

Great spot to hit up when you are craving seafood. I always get the deep fried shrimp, which tastes great! My friends always choose the catfish and say it can’t be beat! Nice little spot when you want an order to go.

How have I never eaten here before?! The chicken wings I ordered last minute For an event were amazing! Had everyone asking where they came from! Only down side, no where to sit an eat! Killer wings, they accommodated my last minute order! Fabulous!

Creepy looking storefront nestled between a wig shop and a gun store. Take out only. Chicken wings and fried rice, the perfect combo! This is not gourmet food but good fried food. Big portions, efficient, friendly counter person.

I have to agree with Jeannine D. on this one. I was lured in by the overall rating but I just don’t see how anyone can argue 5 or even 4 stars for the food here. I had the triple combo, 2 pieces Catfish, 6 medium shrimp and 6 wings for $ 11.95. I subbed the Fried Okra in place of fries for $ 1, my total ended up being about $ 16 bucks, I don’t quite get that but whatever. The wings were good and definitely the highlight of my meal but lacking flavor. I asked for the Cajun rub on everything and either they forgot or it is WEAK. The catfish was sliced so thin it could have been for making sushi. There was no catfish flavor what so ever, all breading here. The shrimp were decent and the fried okra weren’t bad but nothing to go back for. The most disappointing part was the unseasoned breading, everything was bland. I get this is Minnesota and ketchup can be spicy for some people but like Jeannine said, a little Lawry’s and Old Bay goes a long way.

Thank you to the previous reviewers for helping me find this place. First thing, call ahead order wings and arrive in 20 minutes, read the rest of the review later. The food is very fresh and ensures everything has reached a perfect temperature 15 minutes later when i get home. The place is a hole in the wall, not dirty but you aren’t going to bring your friends here, they’re down to 2 lawn chairs and a table now. Owners are nice, they haven’t been chatty but they’ve had a smile on their face. Prices are cheap, and wings are surprisingly large although i believe they’ve raised the prices slightly. I have been here twice now, first time i got the regular chicken wings and the second time i got the cajun hot wings. The regular wings taste like what i dream of fried chicken being. No crazy flavors just savory wings perfectly cooked. I have a decent spice tolerance, better than most minnesotans and the cajun wings were perfect, enough heat to wake you up but not overriding the chicken itself. The highlight of the chicken is the ridiculous crispiness, probably due to the wet batter as mentioned in another review. I put a few wings in the fridge and put them in the oven 12 hours later, just as crispy as they started out. You could probably leave these on the counter for a few days(impossible to do) and they would still be perfect. Sauce is good, i prefer the spicy and sweet, goes with the cajun well. The sweetness cuts the cajun out but leaves you with just a little heat. Fries are decent, both times i’ve destroyed the wings and havent been inspired to eat everything.

Maybe I’ve got a bias for Southern fried food. Well, there’s no maybe about it. Unseasoned breading and deep frying do not a 3 ½ or 4 star rating make. A little Old Bay and Lawry’s goes a long way.

I’ve been to this place a couple of times. I always get the wings here. The wings have a wet batter then theyre fried unlike other places that just flour and deep fry. Definitely get the Cajun seasoning otherwise the wings can be a little bland. The wings are just the single flat and single drummy so get a 20 piece. For $ 13, 20 pieces of deep fried goodness comes with a big bag of fries, a piece of white bread(what’s up with the bread? This is not the only place that does this…) and either sweet and sour sauce or hot sweet and sour. Both sauces are pretty good. The fries are the best other than five guys. They come seasoned and they don’t even need ketchup like all good French fries. Every order is made to order, so the extra 20min your gonna wait is worth it because it ensures your food is hot and crispy. Unlike the chain chicken joints that keep their food under warming lamps where it still gets cold and soggy. More of a take out place, they have about 4 plastic lawn chairs and a table that’s made for a patio not a restaurant. But definitely the best fried chicken and fish option in uptown.

I came across the reviews for Seafood To Go when I was attempting to find legit fried chicken professionals in the cities, i’m so glad I gave it a try cause I believe food/value wise its the closest i’ll come to anything I had back home. It’s right across from the Midtown Global Market/Chicago Lake Liquor so I call ahead and stop by after getting groceries and making a beer run. The area ain’t the best, but I will brave it for the deliciousness I will consume once I get back to my place. You can get 6−8−12−20 piece combo’s with fries and a side sauce for under $ 12, so you won’t go broke if you come here every few days like me. The food is always fresh because its cooked for you when you order, so if you just walk in & order and have to wait 15 minutes it’s totally worth it. Also, the staff is always so friendly and so nice. Never had a bad experience it the many times I’ve visited over the past month. Seafood To Go is definitely my fave take out place in Minneapolis, I wish they delivered!

Tried this place yesterday now that Shorty and Wag’s is closed. Impressed with the wings. Freshly made and hot. Very juicy and loaded with meat(not gobs of fat). I got the cajun rub, which was very tasty — better than others I have had in the area. Had a nice heat that was subtle and did not over power the flavor. Actually did not realize it was spicy until my nose was running — sneaks up on you. Didn’t even need the sauce provided. I tried the fried rice based on the other review on here. Not bad(better than a buffet) but Great Wall’s on France remains my fave. My wife had the catfish, which she noted was more flavorful than other hole in the wall friers like this.

SO, I get my nails done at U2 and have walked past this food spot over 100 times. It kind of reminds me of small take out places in NYC. Small. Old. Spray painted, neon advertisements. Rundown exterior. I never went inside until a friend of mine bought an order of their special wings.(6 piece of REALFULL wings, with Cajun seasoned fries, a cup of either their special sweet & sour sauce or their hot & sour and a piece of bread.) I tried a piece and I’ve never had better tasting fried chicken in MYLIFE. The outside batter has a perfect amount of crunchy crispiness to it. Not too greasy. The seasoning is SO good, I wish they gave crumbles of it alone like LJS. The wings are full of meat and juicy. The fries are well, fried to perfection with the perfect amount of Cajun seasoning. I went inside and ordered a 6 piece, and I couldn’t wait to eat it. They prepare only by order so it’s always fresh. Not only that, all that food and it’s under $ 5 :) The inside is clean and well kept for the area and how old the buildings are. Nothing special. Painted walls, a table, a few chairs and a window to order your food. With food that great, it really doesn’t make a difference. I haven’t tried anything else but I plan on it since I order a 6-piece at least every two weeks, if not more often. Definitely better then other competitors like Shorty & Wags and AJ’s.

Wow, can’t believe I’d never noticed this place before, and man am I glad I did. My eyes must have not payed attention as to what was there because it is located amongst some seedy looking, hodgepodge businesses. Seafood To Go is the kind of place that is missing at the Global Market across the street, actually I can’t think of too many places like this in Minneapolis either. When I wen’t to check it out I was expecting to find a rundown rat trap of a restaraunt but instead found a really nice, well kept place. It really reminded me of some of the small shops that you’d find in an oceanside port town, or even some of the ones in more reknown places like Coney Island and Atlantic City. It is definetely more of a to go place as there was only 1 table and maybe 5 chairs inside. I had the Cajun Catfish combo which came with chicken wings, fries and a soda, a huge helping of everything for a little over 9 bucks, what a deal. The food was all great, fish was really fresh, the chicken wings were the best I’ve ever had, and the fries were so good I barely even used ketchup. I was very impressed with the food, and the service was great too. I’ll be back for sure and if the food stays as good as this, I’ll up my rating to 5 stars.

If I went solely on the appearance of things, I would miss out on a lot. Needless to say this place isn’t the most beautiful or in the greatest area, but the chicken wings were worth getting out of the car for. A co-worker brought these in for a Christmas party one year and they were the first things to disappear. Not a single one left. Nice size chicken wings/drummies with a crunchy outside. I ordered a bunch for a subsequent party and again, the first things to go. Chicken wings/drummies are really good. I like that they are crunchy and full of meat.

Had Seafood to go for the first time today and I am very glad that I tried it out. They had a special when I went in that had 2 big pieces of battered fried fish, 6 wings(which I paid $ 1.00 more to get the dry Cajun rub on them), a big serving of Cajun fries, side of coleslaw slaw and a piece of bread for $ 6.40. EVERYTHING was amazing! The fish had excellent flavor, it was not greasy. It was flaky and crunchy. The wings did not have a greasy wet feeling that most wings do, and these were also excellent and crunchy. The fries had the perfect amount of seasoning on them, they were anything far from being greasy. Cole slaw is excellent! I do not think that this place has the ability to serve anything that sucks. The wait for the food was not bad, and the person taking the order was friendly and is able to hold a conversation with. There are some chairs to sit down at and eat if that is what you want. This place is a hole in the wall, but it is DEFINITELY worth going over and getting. I will be going there at least once a week for quite a while!
