I’ve been coming here for 15 years, of course it’s somewhat dilapidated — trail closures, the wetland walkway falling apart it’s still a sweet retreat for the area. I come here often with my dog… You’re not suppose to bring them. But if your early enough and not a lot of people are there … I see numerous dog walkers here.

This is a lovely little nature center that seems to be nestled right into the middle of the suburbs. I went to Springbrook Nature Center a couple times with my school and always enjoyed those field trips. They have great nature paths to go on alone or perhaps with a date. In October they have an excellent Halloween pumpkin event that I wish I had known about sooner. Very nice escape from the hum drum of suburban life.

Be vewwy vewwy quiet … we’re hunting wabbits. There aren’t many places where a kid can do crafts, go for a hike, see signs of a coyote, see whats left of the coyote’s lunch(a rabbit) and then have a picnic lunch. The staff here are great with the kids, know a lot about nature, and seem genuinely dedicated to teaching others. The main room has a group of exhibits with plenty of hands on stuff to keep the kiddies enthralled. We didn’t see the rabbit we planned on, but we did see a rabbit. Perhaps its duck season.

I’ve been coming to this park every few years since I was a little kid. But this review isn’t over the years, it is for a Birthday party we had here. This is a little known part of Springbrook nature center, they have all sorts of themed birthday parties. For my son we chose the spider theme. This was a great way to spend his birthday party. They start out with a Q&A on spiders, then they bring out the Tarantulas. They had 2 of them. I would have liked to have held them, but I can see why they don’t let people touch them. I’m sure it’s a liability thing. They had a cool spider game to play and they followed it up with an arts and craft climbing spider. They were good with the kids and we had 16 of them running around. This is definitely a great place for a gathering and so much to see. Also I geocached( ) here too. There are plenty in this park.

Great place for kids or adults. Go for a nature walk and check out the ponds. I think they have 2 – 5 miles of trails that are all pretty east. I used to go there as a kid. They have special Easter and Halloween programs and do nature birthday parties. They have a nice indoor area for near viewing for kids and a nice touch and feel section. great nature center close to the cities. A real gem of the metro.
