Talk of The Town

The location is actually now on Nicollet Ave and 25^th street.
After seeing and liking the hair of a young lady I know, I decided to make an appointment with her stylist for a sew-​in weave. Unfortunately, the entire experience was a disappointment… so much so that I didn’t even tip her, which says a lot being it’s atypical of me.
The hair was braided so tight that a week later it still feels like my scalp is being pulled especially when sleeping, which hurts. Matter of fact it’s so tight that along the weft (where the hair was sewn on) I can see the white tips of my natural hair strands which have been pulled from the follicle. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised given how rough the stylist was when doing my hair… actually pressing hard against my face (unapologetically) as she braided and sewed the hair. At one point while sewing in the hair she even stuck me in my eye (with the needle) and either didn’t notice or care until I brought it to her attention. Even one of the male stylist who at one point took over to do some sewing (without my even knowing they were temporarily switching spots) was rough, pressing all on my face. I don’t typically get weaves, but from the two times I did… it wasn’t as rough.
The weave itself looks fine… bulky, but fine (not as nice as the person who’s hair I liked). I’ve been told by others that over time it’ll loosen up and lose the bulk (thank goodness). However, given the experience with getting it sewn-​in, the cold atmosphere, the gossip, the lack of a consultation at the start of the service… this definitely warrants the one star.
At the end of the day, I put in weave to protect my natural hair and avoid combing it this winter. However, I get the feeling that once I take this thing out (which will be soon), I’ll find that I have bigger problems to deal with… damage!

This shop is amazing! I was on vacation and I came with my cousin to her weekly appointment. I asked Michael is it possible to get in his chair am he said yea! I had a kinky curly weave and he got it bone straight! I received a wash, blow dry, flat iron and curl for a very good price.
I was very surprised with the time and effort that was put into my hair! I didn’t gave an appointment, but I was in and out! The shop owners don’t believe you should be sitting in a shop all day.
There are plenty chairs and dryers so you don’t have to wait long to get put under the dryer or washed. They play music videos on the tvs and they have vending machines.
