ok… I am a black lady who thinks she is still in her 20s… walked into Hipster Hell and had a fantastic time. Great food(wings are bomb) stiff drinks(drunk as hell as I type this) Groovy bartenders. Will be back. My work trips take me to rural Minnesota so this is exactly what I need to stay grounded. Cheers Y’all!

This place is probably the best dining experience I’ve had in a long time. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the drinks and food selection and was more than willing to answer questions about menu items and tap beers. My date started out with a house IPA while I opted for the Bauhaus. We moved onto a old fashion, michelada, mule and a purple rain that all hit the mark. For dinner we started off with nachos. They were exactly what we wanted, great flavor and a good portion. For an entrée I had the Mac n cheese with crab. The crab was a large fried patty that you break up and mix in. SOGOOD. My date ordered the jambalaya which was packed with meat and came with chorizo balls. We were so stuffed we skipped dessert, but will definitely be back again. Our server really made the whole experience. I can’t brag enough about him.

I was kind of disappointed with my experience here. Most of the reviews raved about the balls but I found them to be only mediocre. I had the meatball flight and they were cold and hard. Although the plating was nice any other appeal of them went away as soon as I took my first bite. Might have been about the worst meatballs that I have ever had. The meatball in marinara was cold, hard and flavorless. The chorizo ball with cheddar sauce was unappealing. The cheddar sauce looked and tasted like plastic. The pork ball with mushroom gravy was okay but unremarkable. I also had an order of mac and cheese. This was very good! But extremely filling. The son had an order of the Swedish meatballs and also the meatball sliders. He ate all of it but voiced no opinion about any of it. The best part of experience here, by far, was the beer selection. They have a ton of beers on tap! We loved being able to choose our flight of beer for $ 15! They give you a paper so you can make your selection and then serve the flight with the paper so know what you are drinking. Brilliant! Service was pretty poor. Took forever to get any attention from the waitress. Getting the check took an eternity!

If I lived here, this would be my place. Huge craft beer selection, good crowd, great music, and awesome meatballs! The crab cakes did not dissappoint, but the pork and polenta should not be missed. The owner is knows his beers and can point you to new options. Crazy Mountain Horseshoes & Handgrenades is an American ESB was my favorite brew. This place is definitely worth a try.

Great for late night! The music is awesome and the variety of beers and ciders will make your mouth water. We stumbled upon it after leaving another bar and wished we’d gone here first! We will definitely be back next time we’re in town.

The food was surprisingly good. Italian wedding soup was very flavorful and the house mason jar salad fresh. Has a list of 40 beers on tap. I would have given 5 stars if there were more IPAs to chose from. I’ll be going back.

I’m eating my food right now and I can’t put off expressing how delicious the food is, great the environment is, nice the service is, I mean damn. I’m just in town for the weekend and NEEDEDBRUNCH. I had(split) the dirty south biscuit sandwich… Chicken bacon egg gravy(the bomb)… Eat this up. Get the mimosa flight. Coffee was good. See you there!

Stopped for a quick bite. Had the chirizo meatball sandwich. Perfect spice with jalapeños and fresh cilantro. Cool atmosphere with good service.

Great venue with a very friendly staff. My boyfriend and I shared the beer bucket Bloody Mary it was delicious and I don’t even like bloody Mary’s. Deff worth the 40 bucks. We got full from all the snacks the drink comes with. Grilled cheese, turkey sliders, cheese salami sticks, olives, deviled eggs and fried meat balls. Deff coming back

Stumbled across this place while exploring Minneapolis. It has a great atmosphere and an interesting interior design. Haven’t tried the food yet, but their Bloody Mary bucket deal was a game changer. It’s a little pricey if you’re buying for a party of one, but you get a lot of bang for your buck if you split it. It was a very well done Bloody Mary and came with a sampler platter of appetizers for the garnishing. It was the first time I’ve tried something like it and it blew me out of the water. I highly recommend it, even if you’re not a huge fan of bloody’s.

I’m divided on this review. Very good food! Finally checked out this spot. Meatballs and polenta were amazing. The menu is very unique, mostly meatballs and sandwiches /burgers. I hear they have amazing cocktails but I stuck with wine. My initial rating is low because while the food was great, we were there on a Wednesday night and the bartender was doing shot after shot with these creepy older men that had no business bothering her. They were cheering and hollering so loud our server couldn’t hear our order. I’d like to believe the bar is not full of slimmy characters on a typical night. I’ll be back and update once I do!

Interesting alternative to the other place a block away. They had one of the best poutine I ever had. Good selection of drink. Service was attentive.

We bought a groupon for brunch solely because of the pictures of their Bloody Mary and it didn’t disappoint! We both got the outrageous weekender bloody that comes with tons of snacks. All the fried goodness you could think of plus more. Even had a deviled egg which really won me over. Oh and can’t forget about the bacon bits around the rim. Typically the more snacks in a bloody the worse the actual drink is but we were both pleasantly surprised. The mix had a nice kick to it and it wasn’t too thick. Our food didn’t disappoint either. We probably could have shared an entrée consider all the snacks we had in our drinks and the generous portions but hey it’s brunch! Go big or go home right? We will be back for brunch when we are ready to splurge first thing in the morning again.

So I haven’t been back for Happy Hour, but we’ve frequented for brunch at least 5 times this year. One thing is for certain, their brunch food ROCKS. We consistently have loved our meals and portion sizes every time we have dined. Get the crab cake Benedict with potatoes, you won’t be disappointed or leave hungry. Their brunch drink menu is really fun and creative. We usually opt for the the Bloody Martini(bloody mary ice cube in a straight up martini) and the Mimosa flights. So why a 3 star rating? They are consistently understaffed and brunch turns into a very very long meal. They have all these great and creative brunch drinks, but ONLYONE bartender. This lone wolf also serves at the server for all those who sit at thee bar and also order food. I’ve never seen more than 2 servers(and sometimes only one!) even when the place is hopping. We keep coming back, but only on days when we have no plans afterwards so time isn’t an issue. *Tip: Get a groupon, plan for a longer brunch than necessary and let me know if you like the midwest sushi in their Bloodies!

Downtown HH spot, nothing exceptional food wise but drink specials goes until 7, hallelujah! If you are grab snacks get the Devils on Horseback. Devil’ Advocate is located in a long narrow building, it has a cool interior with exposed brick and casual atmosphere. I would recommend this place for smaller groups as space is limited.

Minneapolis dinner night number 3: I read some good things about this place regarding food and some not so good things regarding service. I would have to agree about the service, took awhile to get water, drinks and the menu. The upside was the waiter was awesome, so he is forgiven. After the initial wait all was good, food was timely and he checked in on us multiple times. One more thing… music too loud, too hard to talk… but it was a long day so I will chalk that up to why I was irritated! Now back to food… meatball flight was delicious, portions were small, but satisfying. We also had the Mac and Cheese and that was delicious. I would love to go back and try dinner sometime.

Several weeks ago, some people in the industry and I celebrated my friend’s birthday(a chef) at Devil’s Advocate. Like a mullet, there are two general parts: one long and narrow bar in the front and a party/dining room in the back. Our crew of eight sat in an awesome nook in the back. That night, homies warned me – since this was my first time — that the food rocked, but the service prevented them from being regulars. Unfortunately, we got just that. Let’s talk positives first: I. FOOD Many people recommended to me that their ***cough*** BALLS were just A-OK and not the way to go; rather, the sandwiches were the thing to try. I decided to go for their take on the classic Philly Cheese Steak called the Twin Cities Cheese Steak.(I believe.) Also, the birthday boy and I shared a serving of their classic poutine. *Twin Cities Cheese Steak: Perfectly baked bread, thinly cut slices of beef(still hearty, though), and a generous pour of cheese. I’m not sure if it was whiz or cheddar, because I was slightly inebriated, but who cares. Ish was good! The side of fries also hit the spot, too. *Classic Poutine: I believe they have two kinds of poutine, one of them being the classic.(And, how can you not go with the classic?) Anyways, while it did taste great, it could’ve used more cheese. It’s absolutely huge and difficult to conquer. II. DRINKS Outstanding cocktail and beer lists. Whether you occasionally indulge in a general rum & coke or seek to taste the newest craft beer, there’s something for everybody. III. SERVICE I’ve had only a few service horror stories in my day, but this definitely ranks amongst the top.(Tangent — the worst would be when my girlfriend had a server literally knock a huge drink into my girlfriend’s lap, then blamed and teased her for being so careless. He didn’t even say«sorry» and told our manager it was our fault.) Things that annoyed me about the server, which I told him: –He brought out our delicious food, without bringing us silverware. Kind of hard to eat freshly fried French fries and melted cheese without a fork. We asked him for forks. –Poutine got cold, so we sent it back and didn’t apologize at all. Still didn’t bring out our forks; rather, he went to the table next to us and flirted with some girl there. –We saw him, maybe, four times throughout the night, despite being there for two hours. –Just not very nice.(And, my standards are pretty low for that one.) I could go on, but then I would have to return to the gym(to let my frustrations out), again, today. Despite the horrid service, I would absolutely return for the excellent food — not to mention the fun atmosphere and affordable prices — with a group of friends to celebrate an occasion or hangout for happy hour. I’m in no rush, though.
