Awesome burgers and coleslaw. Will be coming back when in the area. Love these kind of places.

They have been serving some of the best burgers in the metro area for 30+ years. It started out as a 3.2 neighborhood bar. They now have the strong beer and wine license. My only disappointment was when they stopped serving the pork tenderloin sandwich. The décor has seen its better days but doesn’t detract from the food. Tootie is unfortunately not with us any more but her legend lives on through the quality food that continues to be served.

I’d put these Burgers up agains any in the Twin Cities. The«Stuffed Burger,» a juicy lucky style filled with cream cheeks & jalapeños, is as good as any at Matt’s Bar. Always friendly service. A true gem, and champion, of North Minneapolis!

I love the fact that this place hasn’t changed anything(interior wise) and the food is pretty good. I grew up coming here with my mom and grandma, it’s very nostalgic to see something stay the same all these years! Everybody wants to have the best décor in their restaurants, but here I want them to keep it the same! Burgers are awsome.

Two things nice about the place, 1 the food was good, 2 the waitress was nice. That it, the place smell bad from the door to the booth. Bathroom was about the same and dirty. The cushions were as old as the building and torn. Diners driven and Dives. Dives wins

Bummer. We were there on Saturday and had thee worst service. The dining room was empty, and it still took 45 min to get burgers… The the fries came 15 minutes later after we had eaten the burgers. When we asked what had happened, since there was no apology or explanation given, she said«I don’t know, he must not have seen the slip.» Let me remind you, we were almost the only people in there. It doesn’t matter if the burgers were good or not, the service stinks. Won’t be back. Tootie should hold a basic customer service class for the employees. A simple explanation, an «I’m sorry», or perhaps even a smile would go a long way.

Not too impressed. Dark and dingy doesn’t make for a very good ambiance. No music playing was a little odd too, leaving us to listen other nearby conversations, other than our own. The food came fairly quickly after ordering. Appetizer, was the seasoned waffle fries, which showed up piled up on a salad plate. Then the entrees, my fiancé got the black and blue burger, which came with a bag of chips and pickles, that the server forgot to bring, although promptly bringing them once reminded. I got the 10 buffalo wings with celery sticks and an additional charge for blue cheese. The wings weren’t bad, a little scrawny but fairly tasty. But, the«blue cheese» pretty much ruined it for me. They make their own, and it was easily the worst representation of blue cheese dressing I’ve ever encountered. Mayonnaise based, and tasted nothing like blue cheese. I assume their«ranch» is the same way. I didn’t finish my wings because I’d rather bring them home to enjoy with the usual, favored buffalo wing sidekick… none other than classic, sour cream based BLUECHEESE! I’ll probably never go back, but if I do, I’ll avoid the wings and«dressings» and try a burger.

I’m never eating here again!!! Very rude and disrespectful, the server called me a nigger and a fat ass. The food is not that great to have to put up with racism!!!

You know you’re getting yourself into a dive when you look at Tootie’s from the outside and the area you’re going to. There are no frills and nothing fancy, hell, the time I went, there wasn’t even a working AC — didn’t stop me. Sat down, the service was quick, got more than a few glasses of water considering the dead AC situation and even had them drop off a pitcher of water, just in case. Some of the best cheese curds arrived at my request, and served with ranch. Uh huh, good olé fashion ranch dressing. I love the fancy ketchups mixed with pixy dust and fruit items, but, nothing beats getting damn fine cheese curds with some buttermilk ranch. Great salt in the the cheese, light batter, and amazing chew to the little buggers. And at under $ 7 an order, they don’t cost some absurd amount for what it is, deep fried cheese. With an empty basket, my burger shows up. This isn’t a gourmet, fancy pants, «look at how cute I am» kind of burger. It’s a sloppy, beautiful mess of meat, cheese and buns(haha, I said buns) that is what you dream of when burger crosses your mind on a Wednesday at the office. This happens to be a burger paying homage to my brothers north of the border, the Canadian Bacon Burger. A slab of beef covered in Canadian bacon with swiss and a honey mustard slathered all over it. After a few brief moments, it’s a crime scene with mustard here, a few crumbs there and me wishing I could replicate the murder again. And I do. But, a week later and with that previous burgers cousin, the Black and Bleu Burger. Don’t ask how they’re cousins, but, it was the last thing my the burger said before I ate it . I’ve been to Tooties quite a few times, and it’s always the same. Great curds, great burgers, shady area and a welcome burger dive bar in the world of high end burger joints. App plus two burgers and you’re out of there with a tab under $ 25.

Now that was a good hamburger! Just like the good old days. Yep, Tootie’s isn’t lovely, but it does a good job of being what it is. Pleasant staff, too.

The Jamaican wings are good. The burgers were too dense for my taste. Kind of a dingy place but they are community-oriented.

Since my first visit last year, I have been eagerly waiting for lent so I can get in on the Friday Fish Special. The location was almost empty at 4:00 except for one family finishing up their meal. The waitress was at our table right away and attentive through the entire visit. They didn’t have any specials on drinks at the time but I got a Goose Island on tap for $ 4.00 so I wasn’t hurting when I saw the price. The important thing to stress about Tootie’s is it is no frills and no one is trying to impress you with anything but the food and the service. That being said, the food is remarkably fresh and you can taste the time and care that is being put into the dishes. I started off with a cup of beef stew that had perfectly tender and seasoned roast and the vegetables weren’t stewed into a pulp. The fish is what I came for and what will bring me back again and again. The plate comes out and there are two massive pieces of fish hanging over the sides of the plate. The crunchy state fair-esque beer batter has a significant beer flavor that doesn’t overpower the delicate white fish. The price for the portion is generous. Tootie’s is what the Midwest does best. Fresh ingredients in classic and familiar recipes, a nice selection of beers, and an unpretentious atmosphere. I won’t wait a year to go back this time.

Anyone who says they don’t have a favorite burger joint in their town, city or neighborhood is a wimp and just afraid to admit it to themselves or others. That being said Tootie’s on Lowry is more than you simple neighborhood burger joint. Albeit, they have a wonderful burger selection and I have some favorites on their menu, they also have great wings, sandwiches and their dinner specials are great down home cooking. If they have their roast turkey dinner as their special, ORDERIT! They roast whole turkeys and carve them there and serve a generous portion with real mashed potatoes, homemade gravy and stuffing with cranberry sauce. It is a great meal that does not have to only be served at Thanksgiving. The burgers are juicy and delicious and cooked to your order and the staff is friendly and welcoming. You may call the place a dive or run down but it is clean and they have great food. It is well worth stopping and on many nights you may have to wait for a table. I am proud to take friends and neighbors there and have them experience the wonderful service and food.

The perfect local hang out! I have to agree with the other reviewers. First time visitor and our sever treated me like I was her long lost best friend. Lots of locals, great crowd with an equally great atmosphere. This is my new go to place. The fried green beans which I have to admit are a guilty pleasure are amazing here. Big plump whole green beans lightly battered. My burger AMAZING and cooked perfectly alongside a perfectly toasted bun. Kudos and see you again very soon to try your expansive wing selection!

Stuffed burger is terrific, and they’ve added some quality craft beers. Don’t need much more reason to go! Always happy here. A reminder; the bathrooms here are horrifying!

Beware fellow Unilocalers! I believe this«local dive» is buying their reviews with free food or drinks, because there is no way it deserves the rating it has received. I constantly search for local dives while traveling the U.S., and am not typically disappointed by the support of my fellow Unilocal fans. In this case, sadly, I was. At best the food is adequate. I had their roast beef that was touted as a Philly. It was basically an Au juice roast beef sandwich with some bell pepper and cheese. But what REALLY drives the star rating down is the overall«tired» appearance of the place — dust, general disarray, clutter, and as was mentioned in a previous review — THEBATHROOMS! Please, spend some money and clean the place! For you locals, I’m sure it’s a pleasant Local Pub, but for those of us that travel, keep drivin’!!

Rachel G totally hits the nail on the head when she says this is like a corner bar in Milwaukee.(I’m from WI and that is a huge compliment.) Though the French fries and deep-fried Oreos are forgettable, the burgers, fish fry and staff are fantastic. And you can buy your friends drinks, even if they’re not there. You just buy the drink and put their name on the drink board so the next time they come in they know their first one is on you.
