Do you like wine, craft beer and need a place with the best selection in the north west suburbs? This is the only liquor store where you’re going to find what you’re looking for. Staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help. If you have a special occasion, or want to try something new, these guys know their stuff.

Way too expensive. They charge several dollars more than their competitors, for the same bottle.

I like this place alot, but I will admit, I don’t usually come to this liquor store. They have a great selection, and the employees are all awesome. BUT, their prices are often higher than the other liquor stores around them.

From what I can tell, this place is pretty much the best place to buy craft beer in the northern suburbs. They’re located not too far from the fiancé’s place. Their sign caught me eye one day when I noticed that they were doing a craft beer tasting. Despite seeing their sign, it still took my a couple of months before I got around to stopping in here. When I did, I was quite pleased with what I saw. It’s certainly not the largest craft beer selection in the cities, but they do have a solid selection. Also, they apparently do their beer tastings every Friday night so I need to remember to stop back in here more often. On my most recent stop, the weekend before Christmas, I overhead one of the employees asking another customer if they had ever had Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout, because he just happened to have a couple of four packs left in the back room. I of course had to inqure about that and was very pleased he was able to hook me up with one of those four packs as Bourbon County Stout is pretty much my most favorite beer ever! I’m looking forward to getting to know this place better because so far I’ve really liked what I’ve seen of them.

In spite of the fact that patronizing this liquor store requires us to cross Central Ave/65th at 109th(if you live up here or frequent that intersection, you know what I mean), this is an absolute gem in an otherwise unremarkable area of the ‘burbs. They hold both wine and beer tastings, which is intriguing for such a small store. The variety inside these walls exceeds the impression given by the exterior. The wine and liquor selection is actually better than its beer selection, which is a pretty standard array of usual suspects. You can imbibe at just about any price point at this locally-owned jewel. I highly recommend checking it out!

I came over here after a very disappointing trip to Northgate Liquor up the road. I’m a homebrewer, and I’m always sampling different beers for ideas. The 2 gentlemen behind the counter got me exactly was I was looking for, and had a very good knowledge of the beers they have, and the flavors of the beers. They also got me signed up for the beer tastings they host. I will definitely be coming back.

Not only do they have wine tastings but they are now doing beer tastings. Corey has done a great service to the area for making Tournament Liquor what it is. Buy yourself a bottle of Luzon for $ 9. You will not be disappointed. Or spend just a little bit more and get a bottle of Can Blau. I love it! Check out his Hungarian selection. More people need to try some wine from Hungary. Szeremley Pinot Noir is a great value!
