Love the view and the beer rockets but that’s about it. Been coming for years and just kind of put up with Tuggs but Im over it. I understand that on one of the first nice days its going to be busy and slightly understaffed. Still 45 minutes to get 2 sandwhiches and a hot dog doesnt seem right, especially when the fries are cold. Its overpriced for what you get so take in that view. Come for a drink but get your grub elsewhere. You’re welcome.

This a simple place that gets the job done, and that job is giving you booze on a patio with a great view. After meeting up with my significant other’s friend and waking around the area, we chose this bar to have a couple of beers and enjoy the setting sun. There were many outdoor tables with umbrellas on them, and a menu boasting a nice selection of craft brews. The beers were served in clear plastic solo cups, which was fine considering a) I’m not picky about glassware b) I wasn’t looking to impress any guests with this visit. There is an indoor area with a full bar and seating, and I also read something about food, which I didn’t partake in as all of my calories consumed here were liquid in nature. The server was prompt, friendly and polite and to the point, much like the clear solo cups. It was pretty slow that evening, but I did notice that most of the patrons seemed to be of college age. Nice place to pop in for some brews with a nice view, and pretty cheap!

This place feels very fifteen years ago. Unbelievable it survives with so much growth along the riverfront. Must be location alone. Burger tasted microwaved. Fries soggy and flavorless.

Had lunch on their patio. Beautiful day good food and the best waiter ever! His name is Moises. Next time you’re in the area check it out, have a beer and ask for Moises!

Wow, this was the worst dining experience I have had in years. It felt like we were in a Twilight Zone episode where our table was invisible to everyone in the restaurant except for us. When we tried to flag down a waitress we were ignored. It took 35 minutes before anyone took our drink orders even. The food was crap also. My chicken tenders may as well have been rocks. Yuck, never going back to Tuggs Tavern. Many other great places in the St. Anthony area, don’t waste your time here.

Why this place has a couple stars? No idea… It’s a fantastic place for a winter stop on the Mississippi. Great bar food and excellent service. I like places that let you enjoy your time and food remember this place and have fun!!! Woop Woop.

Came here for a drink after work. I should’ve turned around when there were less than 10 people in the place. After waiting for 5 minutes for a bartender who had no other customers, I ordered a Bloody Mary. It was served in a milkshake glass which was completely tacky. And the thing was $ 8.50 and not good. I waited another 5 minutes after I was done for said bartender to appear and run my card. During my short stay, several groups walked in and immediately turned around. If you have less than 10 people in your establishment at 6 pm on a Friday night, you are obviously doing something wrong. Hopefully a new establishment will open on this prime property on the river!

This place has got a fun atmosphere and a nice patio coupled with some reasonable prices. There is ample parking nearby(which might get more complicated if you try to go during a Twins game). The patio overlooks the river(the tavern is right on St. Anthony Main) AND they provide Legos to play with! We were on a pedal pub so we arrived with a pretty indecisive group. The bartender tolerated it well. I say tolerated because he was obviously a little pissed off that we existed, but it was only noticeable to those of us who were sober. We bought a whatever-the-eight-pint-thing-was-called of a pineapple cider and the whole group said it was delicious! Great for something new but not too daring.

My family comes from a long line of pork producers and the pulled pork sandwich here is the best I’ve ever tasted. Would HIGHLY recommend to everyone! My family and I can’t wait to go back!

Awesome patio, great happy hour, beer towers and free popcorn too! This place is definitely the place to stop for happy hour after walking the trail. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the cold beers and great, friendly service. Since we only had beer(and some of the free popcorn) I don’t have much more to include in the view. The food that came out to tables around us did look tasty, so I’d definitely be inclined to return for more people watching and beer and some food too!

Tuggs seems to get a bad rap but has some good stuff going for it. First and foremost… The patio. It’s pretty great. Adjacent to the river, great people watching, view of the skyline. Good stuff. Free popcorn. Duh. They have what I call the ‘strip or go naked”, I don’t remember what they call it. Beer, vodka & lemonade. One of the best summer drinks that exists. Drinks are a little on the slightly too small and/or slightly too expensive side — but this real estate ain’t cheap. I’ve never been here on a Fri or Sat night and I’d imagine things may be different there, but I’ve always had good service and a good time.

Giving this place five stars because of the service and beautiful patio space. I came here on a Sunday with two friends. We had Bloody Mary’s which are the Sunday drink special, and were delicious! The food portions were big, and the fries had a yummy seasoning. Yes, the servers seemed a bit overwhelmed when the patio started getting packed, but our server was quick while still being friendly! It’s the kind of place you go to lay back and enjoy the view, if you want fast go to a drive thru. Parking is hard to find so close to the stone arch, so be prepared to walk.

Only go here if you want a beer on the patio. Otherwise the food is terrible the service is slow the staff is overwhelmed. Save yourself some time and go a block down the street to Wilde Roast.

This is a great place to go on a warm fall/summer night! Sit on the sizable deck! Good atmosphere, beer rockets and good greasy food. I recommend the garlic fries, burgers and the taco salad!

This place doesn’t get raving reviews, but if you’re slightly hungover after a night of wedding festivities — it hits the spot. You get a beer with your bloody mary, the burgers a good and greasy and the view isn’t half bad!

The patio is Tugg’s greatest(and only?) draw. On a beautiful summer day/night, outside on St. Anthony Main is a great place to be. That being said, there plenty of other great patios along Main Street that you should choose before considering Tugg’s. The rockets are fun, but the beer selection is slim. Inside, the place is pretty small. I went on a Friday night and the place was full. Service was pretty bad(empty drinks/rockets for 15+ minutes) so you’re better off ordering from the bar. And the place closes at midnight on the weekend. Not that Tugg’s is that great, but my friends and I would have stayed later and bought more drinks!

Since it’s still patio season, I’m giving Tuggs four stars. If it was the winter, it would be more like three. The main reason to go to Tuggs is to chill on the patio during happy hour. There is no better thing to do than enjoy a drink and a burger on a warm, sunny day, taking in mother nature and the view of the river and the MPLS skyline. There are two things on the menu that stand out… the strawberry lemonade and the right burger…(jalapeño burger stuffed with cream cheese). Everything else is average at most. If this place was located in a beach town, it would be crazy busy all the time, but since it’s in MN, it’s only poppin in the spring and summer… so like four weeks out of the year… jk but really, try this place out when it’s warm outside. Parking is available in the ramp behind Tuggs or at the meters close to the park.

Beer list was limiting and food was just alright. The patio was nice and the view was good, but not sure I’d be back.

I’m not sure how unobservant a bartender and server can be that neither one notices lipstick marks and red wine spots on a glass of white wine before it reaches the table, but that definitely happened. Overpriced and mediocre food. I guess you’re paying for the atmosphere, but there really isn’t much of one indoors on a late fall evening. Inattentive doesn’t even begin to describe the service, and it wasn’t a busy night. Go anywhere but here. It’s awful. I’d rather eat dog biscuits at the dog wash next door.
