I love getting to write awesome reviews! I seemed to be on a losing streak for awhile. Atmosphere: quiet, lighting was dimmed but I could still read the menu. We were there about an hour and a half before closing time, so it may not be this quiet during peak times! Everything was clean. BF said the bathroom was stocked and clean, thank goodness! Food: delicious, exactly what we ordered. I ordered the least spicy level, and was able to add spice myself. I’m deathly afraid of too much spice making my meal intolerable(don’t judge me), and now I know I can order a level 2! Everyone in our group loved their food, and we had plenty for lunch the next day. Thai food reheats like a dream. Server: Wonderful. Knowledgeable. Personable. John was smiley and an excellent server, even though we were his last table of the night. We never felt rushed or hurried along and that is important to me. Food came out quickly and John excelled at his job. Price: The parental units paid the bill, so I honestly don’t know. I didn’t see any shocked faces so that’s usually a good sign! Having looked at the menu, the price point is slightly lower than competitors. I will be back. Prices seemed better than the competition down the road, the service made me smile, and I loved my food. It is a smaller building, so I’m sure during rushes it gets rowdy. Bear that in mind if you’re planning a quiet night. 7 pm on a Sunday night was perfect!

This place is all about the food. All you’ve got to do is stop wasting your energy finding a new Thai place and just head over to Tum Rup Thai! Still can’t forget the balance of flavours in my Panang curry from the other night. Sigh! Enough said THISISREALTHAI! Just wish they were open later into the night for my midnight cravings.

The lunch special is fabulous! I had the appetizer and entrée special. It came with a pop as well! I chose the cream cheese wontons and the chicken pad Thai. Both were delicious! I ordered the level 2 spice and that was plenty hot for me. I also have enough food for my lunch tomorrow! I also loved the atmosphere and décor in the dining area. Great place, great service, and great food!

Great experience, that being said I have only had Thai food about 6 times. The Me Kah Tee was delicious, it essentially resembles a red curry ramen. Good garden spring rolls, you can tell they make their own peanut chili sauce with lemongrass. Service was great at the bar, and the food arrived quickly considering the restaurant was completely full when we arrived. They have Tsingtao! Not unusual for an Asian place but always a plus, it’s a good beer. Prices were lower than expected for the food considering the hype, around the $ 13 – 17 ballpark an entrée. Well worth a visit!

I don’t want to write this review, but it’s 5:30pm and I’m still a little irked about our experience here last night. I’m a long-time service industry vet, and I really despise negative Unilocal reviews, but I feel compelled to write something and hopefully bring some attention to TRT management and/or maybe spare some of you fine people a little pain. I used to love this place. I’d been here numerous times before and food, atmosphere, service all were on point. My lovely lady and I showed up just after 8pm. The place was empty(3 other customers). We ordered happy hour apps and a couple curries. Apps came out quick but were underwhelming. Curries were little more than some over cooked veggies soaked in coconut milk. Really disappointing. I’ve always been a believer that good service can make up for marginal food. But last night, I felt like our server couldn’t have been less interested in our table. Once again, I bartended for a decade – I get it. Some nights suck. This dude was on another level of idgaf. He was flipping chairs on top of tables(the classic«we’re closing soon» move) at the tables surrounding us at 830pm! He checked back on us a couple times, but he portrayed a really disinterested attitude. I have a high level of compassion for servers and bartenders, but our experience last night was really rough. Maybe I should simply chalk this up to a bad night for TRT, but I was thoroughly disappointed. Why is it so hard to find good Thai in uptown?

Stopped in while waiting for a haircut and this place is a delight! Very clean and modern interior, cute bar. I appreciate the strong drinks and the quick, attentive service. Will be back in the near future!

Good Thai places are dwindling in Loft Land(formerly called Uptown). This place, however, is the gold standard with solid service, food, and drinks. Lunch is quiet, quick, and affordable.

I really like their mee kah tee, the curry noodle bowl. I have had it with seafood and chicken, both quite good. My favorite dish, that I order at least once a month is the pad prig bai horapa, with fresh tofu. OMG. YUMMY(and healthy)! Has a great happy hour with some fried appetizer and drink specials that are filling and inexpensive. The service is also really great. I live down the block and when I want thai in minneapolis, this is where i want to go. All in all, I think this place is great.

Tum Rup Thai is a go-to place for me. I love the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. It is very clean and efficiently run. The food never takes too long and you get a lot of it for what you spend. There are great drinks and I highly recommend ordering a second dish to-go for another day(keeps very well!) I 100% will go here many more times as long as I live in Mpls!

Have I mentioned that every time I return to Minneapolis, I go here? The drunken noodles are fantastic. The pad thai is solid. Tea was actually super weak this time, but I didn’t care, it’s love at first bite here. Im addicted to the food from this place, so a 4 star review until they do something seriously wrong. Service was also great.

You know, the place serves good food. No complaints. I like my food served hot, but this time they served it a little cool for my liking. The sauce is sugary and kind of greasy(Pad Thai). The shrimp are really good, however. I had a soup, but the spices aren’t diced finely enough and the chicken is not cut small either. One must chop their soup up, but hey, if you ask for spicy they do serve it spicy for you. The Thai beer I had was pretty much a Budweiser, but out of a bottle. Service was Ok. Prices are ok, will return someday.

I normally order the basil fried rice lunch special — its sooo good and its a really good price. I got a 5⁄5 spice level and it was perfect! I tried to curries a few times too but they were average nothing special. However, I still think Amazing Thailand has better food and a better atmosphere.

I have been to quite a few Thai places but I have never been to a place like this. The inside of the restaurant is small, but it is very clean and nice. But, no one really cares about how nice it is inside unless the food is good. Which I though the food was amazing. I usually don’t go for any of the dishes that are too out there for me, but what I had was amazing. It has just the right amount of flavor and texture that I look for. This is a place that I will go back to again and again.

I love this place! The servers, bartenders and managers are all amazing! Thing is. most of you that are writing these bad reviews have probably never worked in customer service. I have personally watched this staff go out of their way for people who were less than deserving of it. Ordering food and changing EVERYTHING that comes in it, then complaining that it’s not right. Try dealing with that 50 times a day! They have the best happy hour in uptown and are some of the nicest people. Try to get to know your server once. Everyone there is amazing and they have pretty good food too. I suggest this place to a lot of people. They are never disappointed.

Tom yum is on point. I wish they’d strain out the lemongrass and herbs, but the taste was just delicious. Servers were really busy but they were prompt and courteous. Lunch was $ 10 for soup and entrée so value for the price was absolutely worth it. They also have outside seating — always fun to people watch here :)

I popped in a couple days ago for takeaway and decided to stay for a couple of apps and wine instead. It’s 830pm and they have late night HH. Great! I saddle up to the bar to only find one hipster couple sipping on water. Now, let’s order. I’m having more than water! Had a coupe glasses of nice white wine while I nosh on Thai crispy calamari. Looks awesome and is definitely flaky, but the inside was mushy and not what I was expecting. The squid seemed rubbery. The sweet and sour sauces were terrible. I ate a few bites of the app and pitched the rest. The basil shrimp rolls however were much better. Flaky but nuanced flavor and quite tasty. The plum and jalapeño sauces here were much better executed. Bartender was nice but average. One odd thing did happen was when a woman came in to pick up her takeaway order. She comes in and has a glass of wine and they bring her order out which seems wrong. The lady is like, my order is wrong. The staff looked at her blankly and was like, ummmm. Sorry? Very awkward exchange. She seemed pissed. I did end up doing takeaway on the drunken noodles with chicken and it was okay. Not stellar. Thai hot was mild and there wasn’t too much chicken and way too many noodles. Disappointing. My tab was 38 bucks for HH fare for one person which I think is expensive. Bar is a strange layout and all the staff there seemed more interested in gossiping than serving customers. Overall, meh.

Move over Chang Mai Thai! This place is my new favorite thai restaurant in Uptown. We came here on a Sunday afternoon just in time for happy hour. There were featured appetizers, so we chose three: the Basil Shrimp Rolls, Thai Dumplings & the BEST Effing Cream Cheese Wontons I’ve ever had. EVER. You know when you get a cream cheese wonton but you can only eat the cream cheese ‘pocket’ because the tips are so freaking hard like a cracker? Not here. You want to eat every perfectly crisp/soft piece of these. Plus, their sweet & sour sauce is thick & sticks to each dip instead of dripping off like water. I can say the same for the delicious jalapeño sauce & plum sauce that came with the Basil Shrimp Rolls. We split the Mee Kah Teeh, which is listed as one of the signature dishes they are known for. It’s rice noodles with red curry & other toppings. The red curry sauce was perfectly spiced for us at a level 2 out of 5. We loved the sauce so much that we both spooned it all up until it was gone at the end of the meal. We had all of this for only $ 28. We will definitely be back on a Sunday!

If I leave it up to my boyfriend to decide where to eat, he would pick the same 2 or 3 places. Me, I like to try something new all the time. So now I ask him what he’s in the mood for and then I pick a place. He wanted Thai, so I chose a random Thai place. I love Roat Osha, and I know they are affiliated, so off we went. It was about 9 pm on a Saturday night, and they weren’t busy at all. Nice. Seated and watered right away. We were hungry so we ordered three entrees to split between the two of us. Thai leftovers are always good! We got the sriracha pad pak with beef, the pineapple fried rice, and the praram long song with chicken. We had to keep it less spicy because he can’t handle the heat the way I can, but they have a little condiment thing with extra spices, so I’m good. We also ordered shots of patron, but they were out of limes, so we got lemons. Evidently there’s a shortage of limes, the server said. The shots were big. They were also out of fortune cookies, which was a bummer, because I love the fortunes. Service was pretty good, although he had to wait a few times with his empty soda for refills. I love that they have little chocolate mints to take with you on the hostess stand, just like Roat Osha. Those bad boys are delicious. Overall loved the food, will be back.

I’ve been here a few times. My work has sent me here for some seminars that this restaurant has been kind enough to host. I love that the restaurant has both a private and public area for people. I sat in the private area obviously. I was impressed with how great this place is. I like that it has a formal setting, but the prices are reasonable. The waiters do a great job at what they do. They do great at hosting large private settings like mine. I observed a little of how they do in the public area. They seem to do a great job there too. The food tastes great. The only complaint I have is that the entry is hard to find(not a big enough deal for me to dock a star). Once the entry is found, everything is great. If I ever make it to the area as a public customer, I will be checking this place out again.
