My husband and I spent one night here before an appointment at U of M Children’s Clinic… and I’m glad it was only one night. First, the good: having a kitchenette was nice. We used the microwave and fridge and had no problems. There was even ice in the trays.(The coffee was old and weak, but that’s usual for hotel room coffee.) The bathroom was pretty spacious which my husband approves as a man well over 6′ tall. The closet had a nice organizational system which I appreciated. The hotel felt very secure with only one entrance and the need for a key to even enter the building. There was a nice coffee/tea set up in the lobby and pretty gas fireplace sitting area. It was small, but nice. The cons: we were on the second floor and no elevator. Not a big deal to many, but definitely not ADA compliant. Our TV remote didn’t work so I went down to the front desk. The manager didn’t want to bother to get new batteries, but had me follow her to an empty room on my floor where she handed me a remote from that room to use. She left the«dead» one behind so now the guests in that room while have a non-working remote. That was weird to me. The new remote was ok, but the buttons had to really be pushed hard to work. We left it on one channel and used the volume control on the side of the TV. There were ants in our bathroom, not many, but for me, even two is too many, especially in a hotel. When I mentioned it to the woman who checked us out in the morning, she just remarked that it was«that time of year.» I expected an apology or something, silly me. The bed was uncomfortable. There is no box spring and the bed frame is hard metal. I could feel it in my back and legs. The headboard is also metal and pillows didn’t prevent me from smacking my head on it during the night. We are at U of M every 3 months or so and want to stay close by, but next time we’ll pay more and drive more. I don’t recommend this hotel.

We were a little put off at first because of the cinder block feel of the lobby and main stairway but our room was great. Not opulent, but clean and spare and understated. Loved the bed and the bed linens. Nice thick towels and a cool shower curtain. Clean and efficient little kitchen also. Very happy with price, cleanliness, and location near the University.

I give this place 5 stars for value and top notch customer service. Very friendly, helpful staff that really comes across as they care. I stayed in 2 rooms with one of my daughter’s and 4 grandchildren ages 11, 6, 6 and 5. The rooms were very comfortable and walking distance to good restaurants. I’d definitely stay here again when visiting Minneapolis!

Don’t be mislead by the pretty pictures or positive reviews(surely it must be the owners). This place is an ABSOLUTEDUMP, the worst piece of work I have ever seen in my 20+ years traveling & staying at hotels all over the world. Just go to the Courtyard Marriot, not two miles north, same rate – night and day.

I was in town for a business conference and stayed here for a few days. It was exactly what I was looking for. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful service, scenic 30 minute walk to the conference venue downtown(across the beautiful Stone Arch Bridge), and reasonable rates. I’d stay here again.

I lucked into the last room available for my stay here on a business trip, and have been as impressed as it is reasonable to be with the hotel. The room is comfortable and well-appointed, housekeeping is excellent, the facilities are pleasant and convenient. There’s a fully functional kitchen in my room, which is amazing to have. The only thing I suggest is that the coffee machine in the lobby is a bit bland and the room coffee packets are awful, but that’s such a tiny, tiny thing. It’s 15 minutes walk from Lund’s for groceries, less than 10 from Dinkytown for dining out and drinks. Basically the perfect place to stay if you have business near the university.

Excellent value, good location. Staff very friendly and helpful. We loved the kitchenette. Room, kitchenette, and bathroom all very clean. The window opened — so nice to get fresh air in a hotel room. We both enjoyed the coffee machine: him for the freshly-gound beans & me for the clean– tasting hot water. Neighborhood felt safe.
