DELISH coffee, fun staff. Their drip coffee options are awesome! They know the art of coffee, which there is a whole world of fascinating knowledge tied to a coffee bean and they know how to use it or abuse it. They are the experts and know their stuff.

Visiting again and not disappointed! The staff is different but still super friendly and very knowledgable. Hands down one of my favorite spots for coffee and food. I’m opting to stay here to do some work. Although they don’t have the nice and cozy seats it’s very nice and open space to hang out for a bit.

Cute, largely undiscovered coffeehouse. They have a variety of quiche, muffins, panini and of course coffee. Price is comparable to other similar retailers. Atmosphere is small, vibrant, but yet quiet enough to work if needed. Food tastes fresh and well made. No complaints here! I had the mallow specialty latte and it was amazing. If you don’t like sweet drinks it may not be for you, but I adored it. It was unique and something I haven’t found before.

They roast their own coffee at the shop, and you can’t beat that. The individual cups and bags of coffee are affordably priced, age worth every penny. The staff there is great. Everyone is always so friendly, and they also know their jo! Highly recommend!

Absolutely one of the best espresso and salad cafes in Minnesota!!! If anyone has the opportunity I definitely recommend this as a coffee shop!

UP is a great Café if you are in the mid city NE neighborhood. It’s hidden among some other very cool hidden gems of Minneapolis such as Norsemen Distillery and Eversharp, the best knife shop ever. Back to UP. Friendly staff. Super fresh sandwiches and tasty gelato. Fantastic coffee. I really enjoy their ice coffee and my favorite sandwich is the Chicken Bahn Mi. Sandwich. Deliciously fresh ingredients with an in house smoked chicken breast and a kicky jalapeño, thinly sliced on top with fresh cilantro and tasty sauce. The bread(forget the type, maybe a light focaccia) is warmed in a press just for a bit of temperature. I think their salad is just right to compliment the sandwich. It has a sprinkle of dried berries, thin onion, tomato, nuts and almonds. Makes me want to order another one. Service may be slower at times but it is worth the wait. Trust me. Maybe a sample of the gelato will hold you over and tempt you into dessert.

Great cold press. High quality. Place was busy when I came in, but the wait time was short. I will definitely be back. Employees seemed in good spirits. Fun place!

Have you heard of Flamenco coffee? If so, then you are in the know. If not, get on that. This adorable café tucked in-between warehouses, the YMCAHQ, and a distillery, is a little place with a handful of tables inside and out and it perfumes the air with the smell of roasting coffee beans. You can buy the beans wholesale, or sit down for a cup of coffee with organic cream. They have little boxes outside full of herbs, lettuce, and other veggies for the café. I haven’t tried the food yet, but it looks very tempting. If you go in the afternoon, try the gelato. The black mint is particularly good. If you don’t know what kind you want, as for a tasting cone. You read correctly: teeny, tiny cones made for gelato tasting. For $ 2 for a small(which is more than adequate), it’s a delicious steal. I almost hate to share this with you all… almost. P. S. Remember to check in for $ 1 off a café drink!

UP Café roasts a wide selection of beans from around the globe, and they make one of the best macchiatos Minneapolis has to offer. In addition, everyone who works there is kind and accommodating and to top it off: excellent gelato!

When I decided to try this place I went in knowing that I love high quality espresso drinks and I love sandwiches, but I’ve never been a fan of the squished panini. So I got the chicken bacon salad for $ 10 and a latte for $ 4. Man were they good. Very flavorful salad with lots of tasty additions(almond, dried cranberries, whatnots) and the latte was smooth and creamy, nothing watered-down tasting or bitter. I may raise my review to five stars when I go again, but upon entering there was a loud and bitter sounding employee sitting at one of the tables complaining about some personal matter to coworkers across the way, and the tables were dirty even though it was not busy at the mid-afternoon time I visited. It was just a bit of an abrasive welcome, not awful. If I was a native New Yorker maybe I’d be less of a wussy to that sort of angry sound.

Great coffee. Staff understand their product, and as a bonus they’re really, really friendly. Fantastic cold press coffee, but they don’t give it away if you know what I mean. Still, I keep going back.

Off the beaten path and uncrowded so that would make this a kind of hidden gem. I had the espresso and the quiche. Both of which were excellent quality. Great atmosphere and friendly baristas.

I found this café by accident and it was so nice with a patio and I had sandwich and Pop didn’t get to try the coffee. I also had a great cookie — staff was great

This place is a hidden gem! The folks here love what they’re doing and they food is homemade with pride! The coffee is oustanding as well. Super friendly staff working there too. Nice homey/causal feel to the place. A little Hippy/laid back vibe going on adding to the charm of the place. Very affoardable prices as well. I’m excited to come back and try more of their food. I saw some pics on their Facebook page from last summer of their SMOKER talking about Bahn Mi’s. I can’t wait! Also, check out there FB page for tons of picks of their fresh made bakery goodies!(note: enter«UP Café» capitalize the UP or it won’t come up in the search). …and I saved the best for last — they use adorable locally hand made mugs and plates that make the delicous food and even MORE wonderful experience!

I could write a 10,000 word review praising UP and it wouldn’t be enough. They are the absolute best. Brass tacks: Fantastic coffee, good prices, really good variety of drinks. The extra something: Probably the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered, and it doesn’t feel put-on at all. They are sincerely glad that you came! Why I keep going back: Super knowledgable about how to get great coffee, make great recommendations for in-house drinks and at-home brew, and did I mention they’re super nice? TL;DR: Go there. See for yourself. Go back the next morning. Repeat.

Not only is there Empire Coffee in this unassuming area, but head due south of the parking lot and around the corner you have another coffee shop. And they make a mean quiche: with or without crust.

Almost hidden away in the industrial part of town and off from the heavier traffic routes of E. Hennepin and Stinson stands the Up Café. A friendly variety of coffee place with a youngish vibe and a robust organic brew. The hosts are very friendly and inviting. The pastries are golden brown and were fresh even in mid-afternoon. I had the pumpkin spice muffin which I can still taste by the way, so there was no skimping on the flavoring. This is a new discovery for me and I’m sure I’ll add to my list of regulars. It’s been easy to see how this place has been obscured by bland buildings and rail tracks. I’m glad they placed a sign with a pointer on N.E. Traffic St. A great place to just hang for awhile.
