Friendly service, nice decorations and the food was very good. Definitely a place to come to.

The food here is great! But the parking situation is disastrous. You have to valet. It’s free after 5pm anyway for diners. We wanted to try something new(to us) so we came here and were pleasantly surprised. The décor of this place is quite cute. Dark, rustic, and slightly industrial? Can you tell I’m not a decorator? Regardless, this is a cute place to bring a date for drinks and food. Their outdoor patio(in the summer) has a romantic atmosphere after sunset but it can get loud as the street is very busy at all times of the day/night. The food here is good and the cocktails are great. I think this place is a little underrated due to the parking situation and it being hard to spot because it is below the Calhoun Beach Club. I had an Asian-inspired salmon dish with noodles. Everything was perfect! The sauce wasn’t too runny or too overpowering. The salmon was cooked to the perfect temperature. The veggies and noodles weren’t soggy. My boyfriend got a sweet and savory flatbread of figs, prosciutto, and cheese. Mmmm. We got a side of sweet potato fries that came with a curry mustard. We both took a bite and our eyes widened in glee at the deliciousness of the curry mustard. That’s how I know this man is my soul mate. Haha. Onto our next food adventure!

Located right across from the lake, Urban Eatery located in the perfect location with the perfect setup between casual and upscale. It fits in quite well with the Calhoun Beach Club. Place is dimly lit and isn’t too loud or crowded, so you don’t have to yell to be heard, and they have fun quotes adoring the walls. It could be a great place for after-work drinks or a date. I do wish that parking was easier to find: literally every single person in my party had to reroute themselves to find parking, so I known I can’t be the only one who got lost. So to make things clear, you have to park in the apartment garage parking. And yes, the garage doors are closed, but they do open when you pull the ticket. The drinks are delicious and the food is as well. They have a good selection of appetizers and entrees, and a healthy options selection(which is pretty good for ‘healthy’). I got the kebabs and it was very flavorful and filling. In all, a fun place with good food and drinks.

Came here for dinner with friends who were in town and was definitely not disappointed! We started with cocktails — I got the jalapeño margarita, and as someone who loooooves spicy foods, this was amazing! I ordered the lettuce wraps for dinner and they were stellar as well. Friends were both happy with their meal choices — a chicken dish and the shrimp tacos. Service was great, I will definitely be returning! The atmosphere was just really great as well!

5 stars solely based on Service and cocktails– Our server alexis was phenomenal– on point! When I have service where the staff is knowledgable and have recommendations you can tell are based on experience and personal preference rather than up selling of expensive items, it’s greatly appreciated. She knew the menu backwards and forward and was very charming. Our cocktails were amazing. Espresso chocolate martini and Calhoun infusion made by Charlie were delicious! The rustic lux décor set a fun, dimly lit ambiance for our group of friends. The food was where improvement could be made. It was just a little bland. From the menu and our service I expected to be blown out the water but I was. Prosciutto pizza-the proportion of blue cheese crumbles was overpowering to the rest of the pizza. The duck breast entrée was delicious, but the polenta was a little bland. Pork chop entrée was the best entrée we had-marinated and grilled perfectly. I would recommend coming here for cocktails and a night out with friends.

The food at Urban Eatery in uptown is SOOOGOOD. It is part of the Calhoun Beach Club Apartments building on the Vintage side. It is beautiful inside and out. THe employees never seem to turnover– I see the same people every time I eat here. Free valet, great service, delicious food, drinks & dessert. The fresh market salad with pretzel roll is great. I love the pulled prok. The duck nachos are divine! They are open for lunch Thurs, Fri and Sat. IDK about Sunday. Dinner everyday.

My wife and I stopped here after a walk around Lake Calhoun. We just had a salad and their chili. But, I would highly recommend their chili. It was very good.

I would say that his has been one of my new favorite places. The burgers were done perfectly, the tater tots were delicious and the soft pretzels were great. The atmosphere is great and the drinks were phenomenal. My biggest advice is get the cheese fondue with everything. It is a jalapeño fondue and tastes good with sandwiches, sides, and even the pretzels. We ordered extra to go with our meals. The food was way above what I expected walking in. The cocktails were unique but I highly recommend the Anger Management. The only downside was that it was a bit pricey, everything seemed to cost extra, and the host stand staff was pretty unfriendly when we walked in. Our waiter was awesome though and more than made up for it. I definitely recommend a visit for anyone in the area!

I had not tried this venue since its last go-round, as I was worried that I’d be swamped in a den of hipsterdom with no chance to escape. Luckily, we broke through our fears and headed in. Fear not! Even on a sultry summer evening, the joint took care of us without pretensions or otherwise making me feel too old for all. A reasonable beer selection kept the wife happy, and I felt like a Mojito and was very pleased with the generous serving of minty rummy goodness. It all went well with their guacamole starter. Muddling through to our meals, I had the pork chop(smoked and cooked to order – try yours medium if you are daring enough to get a bit of pink in your pork, since these guys cooked it perfectly!). Spouse had shrimp tacos she loved. A burger for the teen rounded it out, and they were kind enough to prepare it to her liking(i.e., plain as the day is long in August). Dessert selections were a bit pedestrian so we passed. Service was tight and pleasant. Wife commented that they keep many employees on the floor. The A/C could have been a little less enthusiastic.(Great outdoor seats, but it was pretty hot out this evening.) The bill was reasonable, made all the better by the free valet(but do leave a nice tip with the driver!).

First of all, who doesn’t love free valet parking? There is a nice patio w view of Lake Calhoun or eat inside with a modern stylish décor. Ok, now onto the important part. the food. Delicious is the best word that comes to mind. Favorites are the Duck nachos, the lamb burger and the prosciutto pear grilled pizza. The pizza originally says prepared w blue cheese which is very hit or miss for me so I requested they switch it out and use goat cheese. The waiter(Ira) said no problem and was very inquisitive on how it tasted(tasted awesome by the way). We have been here twice this summer already and am sure we will keep coming back.

Urban Eatery always happens to find a loyal spot among the list of restaurants to eat on a girls’ night out. What can I say, it’s got prime location(by Lake Calhoun), a hoppin’ and poppin’ atmosphere, friendly service, and life-saving valet parking(for all those ladies wearing 6-inch heels). Prices are very reasonable with entrees ranging from $ 14-$ 25. While my girls and I usually order a few starters to share as well as our own entrée, I’d say«finger food”– or bar food for those with a more sophisticated vocabulary– is where Urban Eatery shines. Why do I call it «finger food?» All their most delicious bites can be, well, devoured sans utensils! Eating with your hands never felt(literally – but I mean more figuratively) so good! The Fresh Guacamole is one of the best guacamole I’ve ever had – and yes, that means over Chipotle. The tortilla chips are served hot and perfectly crispy out of the fryer, with just the touch of chili lime salt to offset the creamy, rich guac. Forget about movie nachos. The ugly duckling has matured into the beautiful – no not swan – but Smoked Duck Nachos served with black beans, pepper jack cheese, fresh salsa, and of course, more to-die-for guacamole. Keep it comin’. If you’re getting tired of me talking about chips on top of chips, and guac, fear no more – the Prosciutto and Pear Pizza is equally as divine. The saltiness of the crispy prosciutto, pears perfectly(pun was not intentional) with the sweetness of the poached pears, while the sharpness of the blue cheese counters the sugary, yet light, balsamic reduction drizzle. Current status: drooling. One last thing – I know secrets are no fun, so that’s why I’m here to tell everyone(catch that rhyme?)! While their snacks menu only offers Sweet Potato Fries, ask for the regular fries. Crispy, light, fresh, perfectly salted. McDonald’s fries got nothin’ on them.

I was meeting up with a friend for dinner and she suggested Urban Eatery, as it’s one of her favorite place in the area. I’m sure glad she introduced me to it. The location is fantastic, right across from Lake Calhoun. If you’re sitting in the bad area, you get a wonderful view of the lake. The vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant is very cool. You can definitely tell you’re in uptown; it’s hip and trendy. The service was also wonderful. We had a great waiter(unfortunately I didn’t catch his name), who ensured that our waters and diet cokes were always topped off. The food was also good – not mind-blowingly delicious, but I was satisfied. The only downside is that it was difficult to figure out parking. Apparently the have free valet and a ramp at the back of the building. But because I was unfamiliar, I ended up parking on the neighborhood street about a quarter of a mile away.

Decent food but the patio by calhoun is great especially after a great afternoon near the lake. Good overall food, nothing to write crazy home about. The burgers are pretty good, the Salmon with Lo Mein is actually surprisingly good. The sweet potato fries are good starters when you are in the mood for comfort food. The chicken Caprese is pretty popular here as well. The valet is really convenient as it’s difficult to find parking near there and they’ve always been stellar about bringing the car back in a timely fashion. Again, great restaurant, good drinks, nothing mind blowing food wise here but the location is great and when you dont really feel like cooking and out for the night its wonderful to chill out here. The interior is gorgeous though for sure. Their desserts were on point though like the other reviews state.

3rd time going here and haven’t been disappointed yet! I have to say, I should just skip right to the dessert, because the Chocolate Bread Pudding is to die for!(Although I was so full tonight I did not order this time). It’s a 5 star dish over and over again. You should go here just for the bread pudding. Started out with the Cheese Curds which are hard not to order anywhere. They have a great light beer batter and the dipping sauces, a creamy chipotle sauce & spicy ketchup, are unique but great to accompany the curds. For entrée I had the Seared Duck Breast with port cherry sauce, grilled polenta, crispy brussel sprouts, bacon, red wine vinaigrette. Duck was prepared medium and everything about this was good and full of flavor. I haven’t had many polenta dishes, but they serve it in a block and it just melts in your mouth. We also ordered the Smoked Pork Chop with risotto which was a good pick too but the Duck won overall. I’ll definitely be back :)

Urban Eatery was A-OK in my book. Fun venue with great quotes written all around their chalkboard walls and a GREAT looking make your own bloody bar(on Sundays at least). Came here to enjoy a $ 10 lunch for restaurant week that included a appetizer and a main course. I opted for the guacamole and pulled pork, always a winning combination. The guac was great(though the chip to guac ratio was a little off… way too many chips!) but it did have a strange presentation — what compelled them to serve it with an avocado pit? Maybe that’s for the guests who want to go home and plant their own avocado. The pulled pork was a bit of a let down. Lacked the big flavor I was expecting… I swapped half for part of a chipolte chicken sandwich and found that to be much better. Overall, I did enjoy Urban Eatery, but I don’t think I’ll be making the 20 minute drive to dine here again any time soon. I can find a good sandwich and fries much closer to home.

Dear future bf, Do not ever take me here. First, dear server, do not keep touching your patrons and stop calling us with«terms of endearment». Doesn’t really work and it makes us feel very uncomfortable. Eye contact would suffice over poking your patrons, thanks. Also, please ask your customers if they have finished their plates before taking it away from them… Second, do not recommend wine that does not taste good. If you do not know how to taste wine, please refrain from recommendations or offer samples. Third, thank you for the valet parking service. Valet attendants were very nice. Fourth, ambiance was cute and the décor was nice with the holiday season decorations still in place. Your location is fabulous. Fifth, food… I guess this is the most important, but sadly, this was the worst. I want to warn you foodies out there, it’s subpar! We had a group of 10+ for a birthday party. I had the duck. Honestly, it’s really hard to go wrong with this dish, but they did. So disappointed. Birthday girl’s steak was like chewing into a beef jerky… My friend’s mashed potato was loaded with salt… My Brussels sprouts were all falling apart and it was rare to find whole pieces… It was just so disappointing for a place that seemed super cute… Hope to see improvements.

Great meal and amazing service. Our waiter was fantastic – why is it that having the waiter tell you the ingredients(even if they say exactly what is on the menu) makes every dish sound infinitely more appetizing than reading it alone? I dunno, but it is the hallmark of a good server. Really appreciated the menu having a list of healthy options(though it would be nice to know their definition of «healthy»). I had the Asian Beef Kabobs and Crispy Brussel Sprouts. Both were good, and I would order them again. A few others in the group got the Spicy Lamb Burger and really liked it – the mayo sides that came with all the burgers were scrumptious. Our server had asked what we were out celebrating(July birthdays), and surprised us with complimentary desserts. A very nice touch to an already wonderful meal and impeccable service. Don’t forget to take advantage of the free valet parking!
