First I have to note that this was maybe the 6th bar a group of us ventured, as part of a pub-crawl the past weekend, so mild inebriation possibly contributed to this review. This joint is situated next to two other bars … all of which seemed to have an older/biker crowd on a Saturday night. We came around 10−11pm as part of our light rail pubcrawl stop, yet it was not too busy. If you didn’t know, which we didn’t, they have a $ 10 cover(actually all 3 bars do)…but somehow the bouncer got us in free. I thought the place was quaint, looking like 80s 90s bar. They have a side room with more seats. They have a stage and a pretty awesome band playing(Belfast Cowboys). Drinks were boozy, and the crowd’s a bit older but friendly and you can dance without randos groping on you. And, you can leave without feeling like a perv would make some off comment. Overall, it was one of the better stops along the pub-crawl(outside of downtown stops).

I am giving this place high reviews, as I came here for an event on a Saturday night. I am not sure what it is like on a typical night, though. I was actually drawn here by a Meetup event, where Hurricane(live band) Karaōke led in entertainment. It was a huge hit! The place ended up being packed with people having a good time. The sound and acoustics were decent, and the elevated stage worked well for the band. It was about 8:30pm when I got there, and I was waited on immediately and served promptly. However later in the night, I could tell that maybe they were understaffed, as it took a while to squeeze into the bar area(or maybe more people need to learn to get out of the way!). It would be better if they offered more drink specials, especially since this seemed like a dive-y place outside downtown. The only special one certain beer on tap that was $ 4. For the first round of my tab, I ordered a Strongbow and a well whiskey ginger, and it was $ 11. But I guess maybe that was just the Strongbow’s fault and it was Saturday night. Still, I’ve had much cheaper at other bars that are also a dive outside the main drag. I would for sure come back here, I just hope it’s as happening as it was!

Stopped in this afternoon for lunch… Ordered a Blue Moon and the bbq pulled pork sandwich. The service was good. The sandwich was pretty good. It had coleslaw on top of it… The slaw didn’t have much flavor to it… but that’s ok, I ate some of it… some of it I just pushed off to the side. With good tasting food, reasonably priced and good service, I would recommend it to friends and I will go back.

Came here during a Light Rail Pub Crawl and it was a great decision! HH is from 2−6PM and they had $ 3 Whiskey Shots! The inside of the parlor is like stepping into a bar in the olden days and the guy at the bar was super nice! Wasn’t too busy on a Wednesday but it is a great place to take a shot and then head to the next location. Would definitely come here again and try some of their other drink specials!

Whiskey Junction has a great layout, great stage, huge bar, and a few pool tables out of the way. The stage is particularly high, so everyone in the place has a great view. The sound system is rock solid too. They have awesome drink specials and fresh live bands. The owners tend to be on site and are very welcoming. They aren’t snobby punks, like the management of the place next door. This is truly one of the best clubs in the Twin Cities to see live music, eat good bar food, and drink all night long without breaking the bank.

The Whiskey Junction often books one of my favorite local cover bands-the Belfast Cowboys(Van Morrison!) so I come here every once in a while to rock to the sweet sounds of ‘Hard Nose the Highway.‘ That being said, the Junction is one of my favorite bars on West Bank. They always have a good special, no matter the day. Thursdays for 50cent wings, Tuesdays for tacos, that kind of thing. They also always seem to have half priced appetizers-their chicken quesadillas are excellent, so it’s also a great place to stop before shows at the Cabooze. I’ve had excellent experiences with their service, and they even have a little bar outside, which I love. Basically, I’m a fan. I wish I lived nearer so I could go here more often.

Was on the hunt for good bloody marys and was disappointed when triple rock was closed so I consulted Unilocal and it led me here… We were both pleasantly surprised when we got the best bloody Marys ever!!! Highly. recommend

Good place to see a band(not great) because the bar is inconveniently located in prime viewing area. Very slow bar service on a crowded Saturday the week before Christmas. Bumping them up to three stars because drinks are strong and they do have some Craft Beers on tap. Get there early for parking, it crowds up especially due to the Cabooze.

This is one of my secrets of Mpls. 1) Good music 2) Pretty good food 3) Cheap drinks Note — crowd will look tough, but they are very friendly. Special Note — On Sat and Sun — you can get a free bloody or screwdriver with your breakfast… all you have to do is ask.

We were in town for the Steely Dan concert this weekend and decided to hit the Whiskey Junction for a drink or six. Large venue with tons of character; love the brick, the long bar, and the big stage. Crowd was friendly, servers were awesome, and the prices were more than reasonable. Tap selection looked decent; we were boring and stuck with Lite. Ordered food: tots with cheese dip and a pizza. Both were excellent– I’d come here for lunch or dinner without drinking. The Whiskey had two bands on the night we were there; they sounded great and were a lot of fun to watch and listen to. All in all, a great experience. Whiskey Junction = WIN Service = 4.5 stars Food/Drink = 3.75 stars Value = 4 stars Fun = 5 stars We’re off to Matt’s for a Jucy Lucy today, then it’s over to see Steely Dan!

For anyone who lives along the light right, you must should try a night at the bars on the Franklin Avenue stop. The Cabooze and the Whiskey Junction are the two places that I go between. They both have live music on most nights. Whiskey Junction tends to have blues, jam band, classic rock type bands. They serve pizza until 2 a.m. at the outdoor window, so you don’t have to enter the place to get a slice, or an entire pie. For bar pizza, it’s a lot better than you’d expect. I’ve actually gone just for the pizza. They have quite a few pool tables and a good happy hour special. The breakfast isn’t great, but it comes with a Bloody Mary.

Wow. No one’s reviewed this bar yet! I frequent the Whiskey Junction quite a bit when in Mpls. It’s right off the Franklin Avenue light rail stop, so it’s easy to get to from downtown/airport/MOA. In fact, I’ve eschewed the bad airport food and expensive drinks and hopped over to Whiskey Junction on long layovers through MSP. It is what it is. Nothing fancy. Dive bar with cheap drinks and live entertainment most nights. Lots of regulars here. Decent beer selection, which is nice. During the day, they have quite a few daytime drunks — always fun to converse with. During the summer, you’ll see a lot of Harleys here and at The Joint next door. All of the patrons and employees I’ve encountered have been extremely nice — maybe they just liked the cut of my jib, I dunno? The grub is passable for pub food, and they serve a decent breakfast on weekends. Worth a stop.
