Went in this morning to get a birthday cake for one of my doctors birthday today. Was NOT impressed with the service, the girl was acting like she was STONED! and when she wrote in the cake, it was messed up! I’m not impressed with the service or the quality of the product they sale! Not sure that I’m gonna recommend them any longer. I will post a pic of the messed up cake too

So sad — Wuollet is just not what it once was. Many years ago it was the place to go for baked goods. Now we are sorely disappointed in just about everything they make. We were so happy to have a skyway location and keep going back to give it another shot for old times’ sake but stated bluntly, it’s not worth the calories to eat bad baked goods! The cookies we have had been stale(today was the scotch pumpkin) or they clearly taste like they’re made with subpar ingredients(chocolate chip lacked any buttery flavor and the chips tasted like waxy generic brands). We have tried the ginger — tough and chewy disappointment. Cupcakes have McGlynn Bakery like sugary/dry frosting(that was the old Rainbow foods bakery that kids loved for their horrendous Barbie and novelty fake frosting birthday cakes) and dry. Finally, I also tried the chocolate raised donut. I was as though they slapped bad sugary chocolate frosting on a bun. No donut texture whatsoever. This is so sad. What happened, Wuollet? Unfortunately, we just can’t go back…

What’s up with the bad reviews? They make the best fruit tart and Princess Torte in town. That’s what I usually get. I also like their soufflé cakes as well — very light and not too sweet. Their cookies and cupcakes are not as good, but I know where to go for that, so it doesn’t bother me. Nobody is good at everything. I go here at least once a month and am so glad they are DT now.

Got a glazed cruller and plain cake doughnut. Both were very light and airy with a nice buttery taste that was different from other doughnuts I’ve had before. However, they were also $ 0.30 — 0.40 more a pop than other doughnuts I’ve had before — and there weren’t a lot of options. I also thought it interesting that the 4 girls crammed behind the counter had no idea what a cruller was called(the woman asked what they were and the girl serving her said, «A French… type thing.»). Perhaps they’re more used to selling cake orders than individual doughnuts. However, it’s definitely worth the try, especially if you like really airy pastry, but not a place I’d frequent based on pricing. If you’re craving a doughnut and in the part of the skyway, head over to the building next door and hit up Café Doughnuts.

Ordered a Princess Torte For Two for a friend, and when I arrived at the skyway location, I was handed a full size(and full price!) Princess Torte. The gals at the counter(Rachel and Evie) apologized for the mistake, and did everything in their power(which was surprisingly a lot) to make it right. They followed up with their corporate office, and so did I. Even with the miscommunication, things turned out great, but I’m still wary to use them for call-ahead orders.

Nearly everything I’ve had here has been dry. Had the pumpkin bar today and it was dry; the frosting was good, but it couldn’t even keep the bar moist. How can a pumpkin bar be dry when pumpkin is usually so moist? Coconut macaroon was so dry and hard that only the very center was moist. Several trips over the last couple years have yielded similar experiences, cupcakes, brownies etc. all dry. Either they have a humidity level issue or the baked goods are old. The only reason I can give two stars is because of the amazing Princess Cake. It is the perfect texture and flavor, probably because it’s refrigerated and the outer layer is a made of almond paste fondant that keeps the whole center of the cake protected. Don’t miss the Princess cake! Skip the rest.

Oh Wuollet how you use to woo me, what happened? I had the strawberry soufflé cake since I was like 2 years old as my birthday cake till about 17 years old. Either my taste buds did a 180 or their baking isn’t up to par anymore(cue the wa wa waaaa). Since Wuollet was located in Edina till their opening in Robbinsdale, tried all locations several times, including the DT skyway one. Always hoping, wishing the sweets would satisfy my sweet tooth, but to much of my disappointed it hasn’t since I was a child. Here’s the scoop: Thumbs up: –Lots of locations for your convenience including tolerable parking –Options are there, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, bars, doughnuts. . –Friendly staff at all the locations I hit Thumbs down: –You don’t get what you pay for, prices went up taste went down –Frosting is hard on several cupcakes, cakes, cookies, sugar overload like I’m talking toothache sweet! –Dry dry dry like the desert for cakes, cupcakes… –The whipped or non hard frosting on the cake, strawberry soufflé is not light, creamy, melt in your mouth delish anymore it’s too sugary and not so soft Talk about a Big disappointed for this girl, was my bakery growing up, no longer my bakery growing old.

The only reason I stop in is because it is close to my work in the downtown skyway system. So it’s a nice walk there and back to shake off some of the work cobwebs late in the afternoon. I have had the chocolate chip cookies and a vanilla cupcake once. Both very average. And the cupcake was like cardboard and very dry. So I won’t waste my money again on those. Also, the baked goods display is very pleasing and attractive. Certainly will get you in the door! But the baked products are just average(if that).

These cupcakes are terrible. First off — I couldn’t even get the wrapper off the cupcake. When I started fighting with the wrapper the frosting came off in one solid disc. So now I have cake stuck in a wrapper and a side of swirly frosting. Of course I’m already annoyed because this is not the experience I wanted to have. Then I tried the cupcake and it was totally dry and the chocolate chip cookie dough was just a massive clump of cold hard dough in the bottom of the wrapper. I hope the other cupcakes I bought are not as bad is this one. Thankfully I did not buy the groupon because as disappointed as I am with this cupcake I can’t imagine having more pastries the will be awful. Normally I am obsessed with all things baked but I will not got back here.

If you want a real donut or pastry this is the only place to go in downtown Minneapolis. I eat here every day before work. Good coffee too.

Their baked goods have great presentation but they just don’t taste that good. So far I’ve had their carrot cake and also their cupcakes. Both items are bland and boring. How can a chocolate cupcake or spiced carrot cake taste like nothing? The frosting is piled on thick and is super sugary. All you taste is sweet and nothing else. There is no complexity or richness in the flavors of their baked goods making both experiences a big disappointment. Their products are definitely not worth splurging on calorie-wise.

The cookies here were all exactly the same as if they were mass produced and bought at a grocery store. The cupcakes here were awful, dry, and stale. The delaying wasn’t good either. I don’t understand at all why people rave about this bakery. The cupcakes at Macy’s are 100 times better!

Thanks to Groupon I’ve tried Wuollet Bakery. I’ve been to the Robbinsdale location twice now. I will say that they have not lived up to all the hype. There cupcakes are ok. The cake portion is pretty dry; frosting is good. The pastry I had was amazing. Not sure the actual name, but it was a strawberry cream cheese pastry. I was very disappointed thyey didn’t have it on my second trip. The service is horrible. My first trip in I explained to the girl working that it was my first time; wanted to know what was popular(big sellers). She said everything is good. Not what I asked; so I then asked what her favorites were. My second time in I was looking for some desserts for the holidays. I again asked a different lady working what were some popular cakes/desserts. She said«I can’t answer that, everything is good.» Are you kidding me??? I proceeded to ask a few more questions with no real response. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for 14 years. There are always big sellers and things to stay away from. They need to learn how to have an opinion. Once the Groupon runs out I won’t be back.

Phone number says they are open until 6pm monday through saturday. Got there at four thirty and they were closed with no hours listed at the shop. Downtown location has very different hours.

Alright, I had to write a review even though it hasn’t been a few days… I saw the review that Kimberly posted and decided to take a few notes on my trip down there today on break… The coffee is still pretty darn good, but I did note that the hours would not be condusive to most purposes for people in the Skyway unless they have a chest fridge under their desk to put their items in…((In my case, I have 3 fridge/freezers in my breakroom but I can understand that not everyone has that)) I decided to try something other than a pastry today, and I will agree that they undercooked the croissant that I had… I don’t think it was an intentional thing however as an oven is just like a new car, you have a break in period before it starts performing exactly how you want it to. So I will forgive them for that, as everything else is superb! I had a cupcake as well, and lordy lord I just can’t get over the Red Velvety goodness!!! I think I may have to stop in to Macy’s for a new pair of pants though. because having a Wuollet’s next to a Chipotle is like commiting weightloss suicide!

Ok, so my co-workers always talk about Woullet’s and although I’ve had it twice before and was disappointed(once from Macy’s and another time from the Plymouth location), I thought I’d give it another try now that it’s downtown. Well, the saying, three strikes and your out, has never been so applicable as it is to this bakery. The new location is really cute, but still needs some sprucing up in terms of the décor. However, b/c it’s new… I won’t hold it against them. The prices were reasonable and the staff polite so that was a plus. However, note that the store closes at 3pm which is a negative. I know that everything in the skyway closes early, but it would be nice if they at least stayed open till 5p(for anyone who wants an after work snack). Anyway, back to the product. I bought a croissant which had a weird texture. Almost gummy like it had been under baked. I also got a vanilla cupcake which was dry, the frosting boring and a huge disappointment. I would have been better off with a hostess cupcake and Pillsbury crescent roll. I’m all about giving second and in some cases, third chances. However, I can no longer give my money to seeing if this bakery can really live up to the hype. My mind’s made up!
