Though a beautiful facility upon appearance, the memory care portion leaves much to be desired. I work for a senior living management company and thoroughly understand and recognize the different levels of care. Though I can’t comment on the Independent or Assisted Living portions of the facility, I would stay far far away from the memory care facility. My grandpa is on the most expensive care package and simply deserves better service than what he is receiving. The depressed atmosphere is partly caused by the staff themselves. They rarely give a smile or a «hello.» The entire unit is painted dark, with dark carpet, creating an overall sad and unwelcoming environment, when, of all spaces of the community, there should be efforts made for it to be more cheery. The food doesn’t preserve the dignity of my grandpa. It is sloppy and unhealthy. Though some memory care residents may need food that is easier to eat, their condition does not necessarily mean that they can’t eat or don’t deserve higher quality foods. My grandma will not speak up about the problems with my grandpa’s care because she is too kind, but I hear her valid concerns very often. Recently, there was an incident that involved the police making a visit to the community, my grandpa involved, because they failed to do their check on him. My grandma was never notified, but heard about it from a different staff member in casual conversation. This is one of many incidences when the staff have not provided my grandpa or grandma with quality care. Simply put, St. Therese does not create a welcoming space for your loved one in memory care.
