Dan from Chicago Crime Scene Cleanup is living proof that good people do exist in this world. **Beware This Story is Disgusting** I live in Roscoe Village very close to the starting point for the Burger Fest Street Festival on Belmont. This year a van full of old drifters(who also lived in said van) parked in front of our house to attend Burger Fest and spent the night there, aka screamed at each other all night long. While this was annoying, I let them be because everyone has a right to park/hang out on a public street and I figured they would just leave in the morning. I was terrible, y terribly wrong. Their van had broken down… The next morning, I went out to run errands and discovered that one of the guys(who was still camped out on the grass in front of my house) had opened my front gate, entered my yard/private property, walked to the side of the house past my steps and took a HUGE shit et cetera by the gate that leads to the back. It was disgusting… I can’t even describe it. I was horrified. It was such a violation of my personal property and house. Who does that? He defected in a spot where both my 2 year old son and 1.5 year old neighbor play. Literally ON the chalk pictures on the wall. WTF??? I called the cops twice(since the guys were still there) and they didn’t show up. I spoke to the Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce(who run Burger Fest) and while disgusted and sympahetic, was told«welcome to living in Chicago» and«it was outside of Burger Fest so not our fault/problem.» I had a broken arm at the time and my husband and all my other condo neighbors were out of town so I was on my own and unable to clean it up. I called a bunch of places and no one was willing to come out for such a small job. Then I spoke to Dan… He was just as outraged as I was that someone would do such a thing to me and my home. He agreed to come, clean it up and disinfect the entire area with a kid/pet/plant friendly product. While Dan was unable to come immediately due to other, larger jobs, but he kept in touch with me via text the entire time. When he arrived, promptly on time, he was incredibly friendly and helpful and took care of the problem quickly. He took everything nasty away with him. The most amazing part, Dan didn’t charge me since the job was so small. He even said he would come back out again and power wash the stained area if need be. Obviously, this is a case of an exception not the rule, but the fact that he did that really meant a lot to me. His only response: «Someone did something terrible and I now I can made it better again.» Wow. 10 Stars.
