Denny’s

It’s a nice Denny’s and we had an awesome waitress. But when a customer asks for butter I recommend you don’t give them margarine. Some people don’t tolerate it well. Remember: it’s one molecule away from plastic.

It being Denny I knew the food would be gross. However, I expect no matter where or when I go to have good service. It took 10 minutes for someone to come and seat us. Then 30 minutes for someone to even ask us for drinks. We told him we were ready to order and he just told me that wasn’t his job and walked off. There are dirty tables all around us and it smells like old dank farts in here. There is trash an food all over the floors. And it took an hour for the server to take our order. I haven’t even gotten my food yet and I’m pissed. Good on you Denny’s. Real nice.

Received my food very quickly and exactly as ordered. There not many people in the restaurant, but the waitress was lacking. She initially forgot a portion of my order, but did realize the mistake. She passed by my table multiple times, but did not bring me another drink until she brought the ticket.

We had an older lady as our waitress. She was very attentive, our food came out at an appropriate time. The waiter refilled our drinks when they weren’t even half way. She was very friendly, they did have a younger crew & they were lallygagging around but luckily they didn’t attend us. As long as you get an older attender it goes through without any problems. M’Kay. Oh the food was good as well.

Disappointed, expected more. The staff was mostly a young crowd, and it showed. Some of the staff was walking around with earphones in, the staff had colored hair (blue and pink punk rocker look). There was horseplay and flirting amongst the employees, conversations about parties, etc. Our waiter largely ignored us, until he arrived with the receipt, jockeying for tips, no doubt. Food was prepared fairly close to what I’m used to from a Denny’s, but didn’t seem very warm. No refills from our waiter, had to get another waitress to assist in more coffee, tea.
Not up to par with other Denny’s…

Tables have leftovers sitting over 20 mins.
Ridiculously loud near the kitchen.
Sticky menus.
Had to hold with a napkin.

ive been to a lot of dennys around the country and most are at least predictably average and acceptable and would qualify for 3 to 4 stars.
the one in minot seems to be horribly staffed and just not well trained. ive been there twice now and both times disapointed. just a few examples:
1. dennys advertises its milkshakes (on the menu) as including a «little extra in the tin» and since the glass they serve it in is so small, the «extra in the tin» is typically enough to fill it again once after you empty it. the one in minot doesnt give you the tin, basically serving you half of what you ordered but at full price. they were also watery instead of thick. also, our waitress forgot to bring straws, just a spoon.
2. i ordered a sampler and got 1 piece of chicken, a coulpe mozz sticks and a few onion rings, i took one look and this looked like less than half an order (i ordered a full order btw, not a half). the waitress told us this is what they usually serve as a full order. what would they have delieverd if i ordered a half order? 1 mozzerella stick and half a chicken strip? i was insulted and she couldnt even comprehend the complaint.
3. my girlfriend ordered «a cup of chili» as a side dish. an hour later our food finally showed up and our waitresses explanation was that the kitchen had put the chili on her burger the first time and had to remake it. first of all, it doesnt take an hour to recook that order twice, secondly we should have been told before waiting and third, when our food finally did arrive, mine was cold as apparantly they had remade hers but left mine just sitting waiting for hers to get redone.
4. we had to ask repeatedly for water, the place wasnt even busy but the waitress would just wander off and start talking to another waitress and forget what we asked for.
5. when we finally asked for a to go box and our check all she brought was the to go box, we had to wait another 10 minutes before the waitress came back out front and ask again for our check so we could leave.
i could list more but whatever…
sadly this is the only dennys for 100 miles and its in a town that mostly closes early. so they have a monopoly on late night meals as a 24 hour diner. my advice, plan ahead and go somewhere else early while other options are still open so you arent hungry at 2 am with no other place to go.

Regular Denny’s. Just ok. Ordered Moon Over My Hammy sandwich and the omlette with grits both were just ok, the ham tasted kind of funny. Different than I remember. I posted pics, check them out.

How difficult is it to make a chocolate shake? Mine was so thin I could almost drink it from the come. Is it too much to ask to get a good chocolate shake on a hot day?
