In the middle of a business trip, my trusty Treo 755p conked out after eight years, and, not wanting the hassle of porting 15 years of Palm OS contact and calendar data to a different OS, I went to eBay in search of a direct replacement. I was happy to find a vendor that had what I wanted and as a bonus was located close to where I was traveling. While the transaction was handled over eBay, I was able to arrange via eBay messaging to pick the phone up in person the next day, instead of having to wait for a shipment. After having the phone for a day, I noticed a couple of the keys weren’t working reliably. I contacted them, and they told me to come back by. They let me try each of the four phones of that model that they had in stock. It turned out that the one I had was the best of the bunch, and that the keys in question would work if I pressed directly down on them. So Go Green Cellular gets high marks for being prompt, friendly, and accommodating. The only negative is that it appears that they don’t test keyboards to ensure that they’re fully functional. On one phone they gave me to try, the phone appeared to work when the battery was installed, but as soon as the screensaver timeout happened, the phone was disabled, because you have to press the end-call key and the center key to wake the phone up, and the end-call key wasn’t functioning. If a phone has physical buttons, that’s a crucial feature, and it’s not a working phone unless those buttons work. Go Green Cellular should make a point of testing keyboards as part of the reconditioning process.

Cell phone deals goin’ on over here… If you are looking for another cell phone, not brand new, but near new, and don’t want to pay big $$$‘s up front, AND… avoid being obligated to a 2-year contract committment, then this may be for you! Go Green Cellular sells«previously owned» near-new to used condition cell phones, at «way low prices.» I know this because I wanted to get my elderly brother another cell phone, easy to use, basic, with a good reputation. And recently, my wife’s old Verizon Samsung Glyde died. So in the last few months, I’ve twice gone to Go Green Cellular, and could not have been more pleased. I ended up getting flip-phones, a Samsung for under $ 18 for my bro’, and an LGLX5400 for around $ 28 for my wife. These included a battery, AC charger, and USPS Priority Mail shipping. I got these phones within 3 days of my order! I started doing this a few years ago through Craig’s List; looking for used cell phones. But that’s shakey, and actually more expensive and without recourse if you end up with a phone that’s defective or locked because of unpaid billings from the previous owner. Before handing over your cash to a private party, you can ask to see the ESN on the phone, and call your provider and give them the phones ESN to see if it’s clear… but you still may be buying a defective phone.(?) So, my recent research led me from Amazon to Ebay, but it was at Ebay that I found Go Green Cellular:
When you get to the website, click on your provider’s name on the left side of page, which will list all of the refurb’d, used and near-new phones they currently have. With Verizon, I had choices starting from flip-phones from around $ 17 up to an HTC Droid for under $ 200. Remember… these phones are«unlocked», and ready to be put into service as soon as you get them. And as I understand it, Go Green does have a limited time return policy. Again, if you don’t want to get saddled with a 2-year contract, this is the ticket. Cell carriers don’t care if you supply the phone… as long as it’s set for their service system, and has a clear ESN… electronic serial number.
