Outpost Sports

I would like to give Calvin 5 stars for the professionalism and follow up he provided me with my defective paddle board. However, the employee that I retrieved my replacement board from deserves a zero. I was mortified when I went to pick up my new board and this employee, for no reason, decides to tell me that I should be thankful the manufacturer replaced my board. He stated that the board rep said that this defect had to have happened because it was dropped. Then he went on to say he would believe him because he’s been in the business for 20+ years. One, this employee didn’t have anything to do with the whole process of resolving the defective board. Two, how dare he call me a liar. Maybe there are people out there that would try to pass off their mistakes as someone else’s fault, but I would not. These boards are never left outside, I’m the only one who has used it, we place them on towels AND a padded jet ski trailer when not in use. They were babied. And to have the audacity to tell me it had to have been dropped, I find that to be insulting. Furthermore, in order to get a stress fracture as big as it was by dropping it, there would have been additional scuffs, chipping and other telltale marks to prove it. I have no idea why he felt the need to give his opinion. The matter was settled long ago with the manufacturer replacing the item. Tough guy wanting to bully me. My family has been in the retail business for years. We would never treat a customer like that. I can find all my sporting equipment on the Internet and forget supporting a local business.

I was looking for a car carrier from a certain manufacturer and the website provided this store as a source to purchase one. I was really pleased with the knowledge of the staff and they even assisted us on how to attach it to the top of our Subaru.

This is such a cool place. Love playing team volleyball there in the summer. The volleyball leagues are great for both beginners and experienced players as well. They have tons of cool gear, including everything you need for snowboarding/​winter outdoor sports, as well as just about every other sport. The one drawback is that they can be a little expensive.

Outpost Sports is a great place where the staff really know what their are talking about. I bought a bike there a few months ago and the service was great and they really helped me find the right bike for myself. They had a great selection as well. I also play volleyball in the co-​ed league and it’s a great time. I would definitely recommend Outpost Sports in Mishawaka.

Have gone here a couple times for bicycle needs. I commute in the area and am single now so I have to pay boys to fix my stuff. Jacob was the boy that was in that day and he was the best. As he fixed my bike he was happy to answer questions on tools I needed, the names of parts (Shelton brown, rest in peace, but your articles are overwhelming. I have to blink a couple times to get rid of reverse imaging in my eyes after glancing at one), and conversations on bike life — we made fun of bike posers and he was polite enough to build me up when I fished for compliments/​affirmation about that, haha, and no I’m not one anymore. «We’re into patching tires and those people who just replace the whole tube or get it taken in. Pft. they don’t know what’s up.»
The employees here are helpful, knowledgeable, and have personality. It reminds me of a whole foods, and I want to support any business that hires people who know what they’re talking about and seem happy because they live that life and hopefully because their company’s not a complete jerk either.
Outpost sports not only fixed my bike quickly and affordably, they provided an experience, and I am not in as much of a rush to have a boyfriend because I can fix some things myself now, haha.

I hadn’t been to Outpost in a while, so I decided to give them another chance. Maybe my previous experience was out of the norm or they have made some changes; because, I was pleasantly surprised to find some very helpful and knowledgeable staff. My initial intention was to check out some ski gear and then but it online; however, I was so impressed with the apparent changes since my last visit that I purchased a complete new downhill package. The best part of the experience was getting custom fit boots. They were spendy, but oh so worth it. If the excellent service continues, I will bump my rating up to 5 stars. After all, they are pretty much the only game in town and buying online, while cheaper, can be such a hassle. Plus, I like to support local businesses who are trying to do it right. Everybody makes mistakes, and I always like to give second chances.

I have had the exact opposite experience that em j had at outpost. The guys that deal with the cycling gear and repairs have always taken great care of me. Repairs have always been done quickly and with expertise on my road bike. Went in to buy my daughter a new bike for Christmas this year and the guys working there saved me. I picked out a really cool pink trek for her and when they were ringing me up they checked my previous purchases on their computer. They noticed I bought the exact same size 2 years earlier. My little girl needed a bigger bike not the same size. I would have looked like the biggest dumbass on christmas. They hooked me up with the next size bigger. Now that’s good service. They have been just as good with her snowboarding gear.
This is a super cool shop that carries all the best gear for an outdoor enthusiast.

Great shop to have in the South Bend area — the main location (Grape Rd) carrier more items and is more of an out door store — and the new location on Eddy Street has trendy clothes and outerwear.
The staff seems knowledgable — and shopping here is a great way to support local businesses.

Great bike shop with friendly service. Sales staff were knowledgeable and helpful. They helped me find the bike that was right for me, and at a reasonable price to boot.
