Pains me to rate a run so low, but the organization at this event was pretty awful. The 5k course was new this year and was poorly marked, with very few officials working the course. The field spread out enough that people missed turns. There was no 2– or 3-mile marker on the 5k. A u-turn was simply chalked on the sidewalk… No cone, even. Certainly no official. Weird. The whole atmosphere was a bit off… No spectators at all. SD track club seemed to bring most of the attendees. The course is flat, if you can follow it. Results were online quickly, hence the generous 2nd star.

Yes it may be a flat course for the 5k but it always seems this event Coordinator can never get the Race Results correct. As the 10k finishers were coming in so were the 5k finishers! Same shoots, same bib collection. You have HS kids collecting tags, no fault of their own and no one guiding 5k finishers one way and 10k another way. And folks who registered for the 10k decided to run the 5k and really messed up the results. No way a 52 year old women ran a 35:5210k! And came in 4th over all! NOT! The shirts are cheesy, a small on me is big! And they ran out of awards for the placement winners. Really! Blankets Again!!! With so many races in the this town I’m done with Kathy Loper Events!!! This event coordinator has been around for ever and it’s not her First Rodeo! Don’t waste your money on these races!

Great race, flat course(perfect for potential PRs.) Very well organized race, I believe the San Diego Track Club uses it as one of their training runs for the marathons, because they were well represented. I only ran the 5k but the majority of the folks seemed to do the 10k, maybe I’ll brave that next year. The shirts they give are really nice too, nice little bonus. :)
