Solid Mexican food at a very low price. Would prefer to pay a bit more for some more meat and I probably will request it next time. Will return soon

Beef was too salty, chicken was too sweet, and the service was worse than the food. Meh.

Terrible customer service! Stopped after work to grab dinner to go, they gave me the wrong order and then blamed me for it. Check your order before you leave. With so many choices for good Mexican food, this is not the way to bring customers in. Go elsewhere.

Best fruit juice– all fresh– I have never had a thing I don’t like– amazingly fresh and tasty. Don’t have dessert here– you will become addicted to it and gain weight.

If you can get through, food is amazing, however, I call in and was put on hold for 10 minutes… til I hung up and called back and told them and they put me back on hold… so sad… before I left this is called one more time and was put on hold again. Poor service.

Okay on the suggestion of some friends that said to give Taco Mesa a try again. It’s been a few years was not impressed with tacos then. I will say had a loganstina burrito a long time ago that was phenomenal. Anyway last Tuesday tried and was very pleased. Very busy yet tacos did not looked rushed at all. Very nice presentation and al pastor, carnitas, chili verde were supurb. Flash to today less crowded order looked like they cut amount by half and looked rushed. Flavor was still there. Bummed out that about only a couple of teaspoon of meat was put on this time. Wish I had took a photo from last week to show the difference. Might go back might not.

The food is delish but a little pricey compared to other Mexican restaurants. However, the quality and variety is pretty good here. The menu offers gluten free items and they promote healthy eats.

Food is very good, but service can be spotty. We had three couples who ordered one right after another but somehow the couple in the middle had their order«lost» took almost another 20 minutes to get the food. If you are drinking go for a beer the margaritas are very weak.

Unbelievable. We ordered takeout with a very rude expo guy, taquitos, a burrito and a crunchy taco. The food was inedible for the most part: 90% soggy and ruined from sitting in its own grease for 5 minutes, my ‘crunchy taco’ was the poorest excuse of a taco I’ve ever seen – and I’m even including Taco Bell in that– I was only able to eat 1 out of my 4 taquitos because the shells has completely fallen apart from being so soggy. Couldn’t even eat the meat from the inside of the taco because the lettuce was a solid BROWN, the meat was disgustingly liquified in a pool of God only knows what, and the tomatoes and crema fresca looked questionable at best. My husbands ‘steak burrito’ was 95% pinto bean with maybe 6 or 7 tiny bits of steak. Not only did we leave hungry but, here’s the best part, we’ve both been in the bathroom for the last 10 hours off and on. Even the little bit we could eat made us horribly sick. Thank goodness for multiple bathrooms. I don’t know how this place got so many good reviews. Unilocal has never let me down before . Never again.

Have heard amazing reviews on this local chain… Unfortunately I was majorly disappointed. They had a cool soda machine tho(coke products with a lot of add in options) My chicken burrito had amazing shredded chicken and pinto beans inside only… With soupy green salsa all over. My paper plate had a hole in the bottom lol… The tortilla was soggy My churros were raw(doughy) on the inside and burnt too hard on the outside. The cinnamon sugar mix was perfect balance tho… And the chocolate sauce was melted perfectly and the correct warm temperature Overall i would have rather gone to Taco Bell for $ 5 compared to an even $ 20 for one person on dinner…

We haven’t been here in awhile but it used to be in our regular restaurant rotation. We came in on a Friday evening. I ordered the special Mexican Paella. The man at the counter said that was a good choice. Well, it was not. The seafood was all way overcooked and chewy. I love mussles and I couldn’t eat these. The line was so long to order(and I could not get anyone’s attention otherwise), so I wasn’t able to get something else. My son had a bean and cheese burrito and didn’t like it. The chips and guacamole were good, so we filled up on those.

So came here after calling 2 times and being put on hold for about 15 min each time and the guy at the counter was disrespectful! Saying he was busy and we didn’t have to eat here we can go elsewhere? After ordering the food here he didn’t even give us chips and charged extra for a side of rice! Also it would’ve been nice to put a hurry on our order since we had waited 30 min on hold! I called once more maybe he could get his act together with not a single person in line he puts me back on hold and forgets about me once again! Shitty shitty shitty is all I can say! Food wasn’t even that great either. I’d give the food 2 out of 5 and service a 0 cause this was the worst I’ve ever seen! Very disappointed with overall service. Wish I could give it no stars

25 minutes Good food. So slow at the register. They need a more effective to method of ordering and paying. Maybe it is just the guy at the register. Called order in at 6:10 was told 15 minutes. 6:50 and still not ready, and this is Sunday. Don’t even try and call on Tuesday.

Picked up a chicken taco combo and a steak burrito last week for dinner. Hubby did not feel like going out so I popped in on my way home from work. The place is very decorative and the kitchen was busy cooking up some wonderful smelling items so I felt good about our choice. Picking up the food was a strange experience. The gentleman ringing up the order was not the friendliest person. Seemed a little irked that I did not provide a tip on the receipt(even tho I placed cash in the tip jar). Upon bringing home the food my hubby informed me of the man who took the order was quite rude. Makes me wonder if it was the same gentleman. Either way, the food was ok and the service was strange. There are other places in town with much better service!

Came here after house hunting in Laguna Niguel and saw this place in our«nearby restaurants» tab under searches. We hadn’t had Mexican in so long, and the thought of a burrito sounded DELISH. After reading the reviews, the blackened chicken burrito seemed like the one to beat. We came in and the environment is very inviting with good vibrant music, happy upbeat servers/staff, and spacious seating. I ordered the blackened chicken burrito and shared chocolate churros with my husband. The burrito is the«wet variety» as an FYI(only because I prefer my burritos wrapped in foil), but it was so delicious. It had just the right amount of blackened chicken, mexican slaw, onions, cilantro, and this really good mole type sauce on top. It was divine. I love chicken, and the breast was cooked so well. Breast can come off as dry, but this was grilled, seared, and kissed to perfection! The churros were out of this world. They were crisp, but not crispy fried(like a tortilla chip). They had a good bite and the chocolate sauce was perfect. It was not too sweet and seemed more dark chocolate than milk, which I loved.

Taco Tuesdays! I come here fairly regularly on Taco Tuesdays. Their crispy tacos are chicken and beef, and loaded with lots of fresh veggies. The soft tacos include baja fish, al pastor, carnitas, chile relleno, and the veggie. All of them are absolutely delicious! And you can’t lose when tacos are only $ 1.45 on Taco Tuesdays, try one of each!

We used to be regulars at Taco Mesa and then Unilocaled happened! Old favorites were forgotten in favor of new adventures. Of late, we have renewed our relationship with Taco Mesa and everyone agreed it would be a good choice to satisfy our hunger while watching the season finale of Game of Thrones. We called in our order of(2) Chicken Quesadillas,(1) Carne Asada Quesadilla( ),(1) Shrimp Taco( ),(1) Order of Taquitos( ),(1) Cheese Enchilada( ),(2) Orders Guacamole and Chips( ) and(1) Order of Pinto Beans. Before anyone thinks this feast was just for the better half and myself, both the kids were over and as any parent knows you never stops feeding or paying for them. Rohlinism: Children are like luggage … they stick around forever! The person on the phone said our feast would be ready in 15 minutes and when we arrived( ), one of the guys behind the counter was bagging up our order. My better half said the guy packed it exactly the way we ordered it, so no part of the ordered was missed. The menu( ) is quite extensive consisting of Ensaladas, Tostadas & Nachos, Burritos, Torta Sandwiches, Especialidades, Combination Plates, Tacos, Breakfast Tacos & Burritos, Breakfast Specials, Quesadillas, A La Carta Items, Postres(Desserts) and Para Los Ninos(Kid’s Menu). Taco Mesa has a choice of five proteins: Blackened Chicken Breast, Tilapia Fish, Steak, Shrimp and Wild Alaskan Salmon. While the worker was bagging up the order, I hit up the salsa station( ) with a good selection of salsas and condiments. The station could use some more TLC, it always seems messy. We drove the short distance home and plopped down in front of the television to watch some of our favorite /hated characters getting stabbed(to death?), eyes poked out and throat slit, poisoned, hanged and beheaded(maybe?). Not to mention a hair cut and naked walk of shame … just another episode of GoT sans a good old fashion rape(GoT viewer will get the joke)! Just a spoonful of violence helps the dinner go down … dinner go down … dinner go down! I think everyone was sufficiently sated by the food. I am usually not a fan of pinto beans(refried beans all the way!), but these are seasoned well and they add some cheese for good measure. The quesadillas have plenty of cheese and you aren’t left asking«Donde esta la carne?» Their guacamole is just a simple mix of avocado, lemon juice, seasoning and onions that works well together and their chips have some nice heat from some added chile turning them a shade of orange /red. The portion of guacamole is also in proportion to the price. The shrimp taco had an abundance of protein, but I wasn’t a fan of the mayo based slaw. I would have preferred a more vinegar based slaw a la Wahoo’s. The cheese enchilada had a good amount of cheese and I liked the salsa they put on top. The price is on the higher side($ 50.00), but the quality is good and portions are fair so I doubt we will wait until Season 6 to pay another visit to Taco Mesa.

I was introduced to this little gem by my brother a few years ago and recently became reacquainted with it. My wife and I arrived about 30 minutes before closing on a Friday night hungry for some good Mexican grub, and Taco Mesa did not disappoint. We ordered burritos, and were offered some complimentary chips and salsa while we waited for our order. The chips were absolutely delicious, some of the best I’ve had, but the salsas were unbelievable! So much flavor! My meal hadn’t even arrived yet and I was in heaven! The burritos were excellent. Perfect combination of ingredients, tasted fresh and delicious, generous portion sizes and a very good value for the price. Just before leaving, we were craving something sweet and asked about their dessert selections. The gentleman who helped us recommended the flan, which he then prepared for us in record time, complete with sliced fresh strawberry and an amazing cream sauce, all neatly packaged up to go. Even after a full meal, it was incredible. There was not a morsel left in that pan, and my wife has not stopped talking about it since. Taco Mesa has definitely earned a spot on our favorites list.

Love this place! Located at the corner of Los Alisos & Trabuco, near Baskin Robbins. Good tasty food, reasonable price, good salsas, relaxed atmosphere and you can choose to sit in or out. You order at the counter & they will call your name when your food is ready. We tried their Carnitas Pibil, Carne Asada and Steak Picado, all are good! The hibiscus drink is great on a hot day!
