Barbers Four, LLC

This place is a national treasure! Located right on Johnson Dr (in the cool downtown-​type area). Make sure to keep an eye out for the barber pole, it’s easy to miss. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Gabe and Mary. I did not have an appointment, but they were happy to take me as a walk in. You could tell they love their job, the general mood of the place was awesome. Mary finished up her customer and invited me to sit down, then proceeded to give me one of the best cuts I’ve ever had. She even had input on how we could maybe do things better than the picture I showed her, instead of just cutting away.
On a side note: Millennials, make sure to have cash– I never have cash, but luckily thought to go grab some before I went. A cut will run you $ 19, but you’ll be sure to want to leave a great tip after the cut you receive.
I am so glad I found this place! Don’t hesitate to check it out.

Great service, friendly, and a step back in time to the good olé days. The staff was engaged and friendly. They use hot shaving lotion to shave your neck and sideburns.

My wife took our 13yo son in to get a cut. Gabe… you’re amazing! 3 – 4 weeks ago he had a cut and the barber shaved off his cow lick in the front of his hair line. Shaved! Who does that?! Gabe gave him a great old-​school fade and shaved a part in the side. Looks superb. Gabe said he wanted the cow lick to grow out some before coming back and said to stay away for 6 weeks. he could’ve feed us a line and scheduled something in 2 or 3 weeks. It seems that he’s more concerned with our boy having looking his best. Big thanks to Gabe. This guy is worth his weight. Don’t hesitate to sit in his chair.

Been going here for a while now. Great group of people. Always easy to get an appointment and or walk in. Gabe does a great job on beard trim and hair cut. Always pleasure to do business with Gabe and Barbers IV.

I’m in the military so i have to get my haircut often. I’ve been to Barbers Four twice and they didn’t seem that professional. I didn’t feel welcomed both times I’ve gone. Or maybe you have to be white to get good service, still not sure

No nonsense barber. Keeps it simple and does it well. The $ 18 cut doesn’t include a shampoo, but does include a hot shave for the back of your neck. Takes roughly 30 minutes to get in and out.
I would also recommend splurging for the face shave on occasion for an additional $ 18. Good stuff — old school hot towel, straight razor shave. It is the type of shave that the boutique places in Leawood will charge you $ 50 for. Add another 30 minutes for this.
I have not tried to drop in and have always called either for an appointment or to see if they could fit me in.
Oh, and did I mention they have a complimentary beer fridge? Nice perk for the afternoon or weekend haircut (if you are of age of course).

Decided to try this place out on my way to the gym today. Walked in without an appointment and neither gentlemen greeted me, so i sat down awkwardly figuring I’d just wait my turn. I don’t like a lot of chit chat (just cut the hair please) so the lack of greeting isn’t a deal breaker.
After 60 seconds of awkwardness the younger barber that wasn’t cutting hair asked of i was Darrell. I told him no and asked of i needed an appointment. He said they take Walk ins but he’s currently booked and I’d have to ask the other barber if he was booked.
So both of us stared at the older barber expectantly waiting to see of he could squeeze me in and he waited 5 seconds for effect, never looked up from his client and grumbled icily «I’m booked take a card and call tomorrow». I told him no that’s ok and walked out.
It was 4:45 pm so maybe they close at 5? Or maybe i looked like a bum in my gym attire so they didn’t want to cut my hair. Either way the older gentlemen especially was rude and i won’t be going back.
If you decide to try this place i recommend making an appointment and not wearing gym attire. But my advice is did somewhere else.

You want a hip, cool cut but wouldn’t be caught dead in a day spa. Man, this is your place. Enjoy talking guy stuff, you know: sports, cars, tools… Ask for Gabe. You’ll look good and it’s quick.
