One of the weakest productions of a rock station out there. It’s hyped itself to be Kansas City’s #1 rock station, but in reality there isnt really much competition in this city. As such, it’s focus on improvement seems remiss. When 98.9’s morning DJ gets on his repetitious rants about his glory days or is constantly trying too hard to be funny, it’s real entertainment value seems cheap. Then trying to overlay music inbetween when him and his associates talk provides an inconsistency that is boarderline annoying to listen to. The afternoon set-list is so predictable from playing the same songs over and over every weekday that you can actually set your watch to when they’re being played. During peak listening hours, the time given for exposure of new music seems negligent. The radio station may help create exciting local functions and support charities, but what the station is broadcasting over the radio waves is an adulterated product when in comparison to rock stations from other cities.
