I’ve stayed here on two different occasions, for about a month. If you’re looking for a no-frills extended housing option, for an affordable price point, this is a great property. The room was clean, and had everything I needed. Comfy bed, some furniture, kitchen, large bathroom, and enough space for storage if you’re in-between permanent housing situations. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Reliable internet. Flat-screen TV with HD. Great location near the freeway, about halfway between downtown and Overland Park. You pay weekly, which rules out a lot of the 1-night transients you find at competing extended stays. The only complaint I have is the entry way, which seems to serve as a permanent fixture for congregating smokers. Otherwise, nothing but positive things to say— I’d return if I’m ever in town again.

I’m sorry to say, but I had a terrible, terrible experience when staying here for a couple of days while the power was out at our home. First, we called to ask about pricing and the gentleman said he’d call us back. After about 40 minutes, we just went ahead and went in person. We expressed interest in staying there, and mentioned that we’d been waiting to hear back. All we got from the man was a curt«Well, I was eating.» He was very cold and abrupt throughout our whole check-in process and gave us grief when we had the audacity to ask for fresh towels the next day. He claimed that he «wasn’t supposed to do that» and that they didn’t even have enough towels for everyone staying there. Our party of four was only given two towels to begin with and when we asked where the ice machine was located, he said that the hotel didn’t have one, but in the most condescending way possible, as if we were stupid for even asking. There’s no lobby, but instead a sketch-looking phone with which to contact the person inside. The kitchen was nifty, but I don’t think I’ll ever be returning.

I stayed here on a week-long visit to find an apartment for my new home. It is located just outside Kansas City. I was able to travel to most of my destinations in 15 – 20 minutes. The location is also nice because it is right next to the highway and has a gas station down the street. When I arrived, I spoke with the man working who was friendly and helpful and got all my paperwork done promptly. He answered all my questions and gave me some advice on the area, which was appreciated. My room was very very clean and everything functioned properly. The bed was comfy enough. The sheets and comforter were low quality, but that is as-expected for 200 bucks a week. I slept very well during my visit. My only complaint was that some people staying here seemed a little shady. I had the same complaint staying in a different Value Place at another location. I think extended stay places probably just attract shady people. Also, there was a loud party going on in the parking lot one night during my stay. It only lasted about an hour and wasn’t that late(probably around 7pm). I like Value Place because it is an awesome value for the money and has a kitchen. It is a great place to stay when planning a long visit(at least a week) and don’t want to eat out for every meal. Don’t expect all the amenities of nicer hotels(e.g. shampoo, room service, cleaning, etc.).
