The Depot

Haven’t lived in the area for quite some time, so excited to dine at The Depot. New owners have done an awesome job of maintaining the old favs and adding some new fresh dishes. Kudos for that!
I didn’t order my all time fav of prime rib, but can tell you it is the BEST!!! Get it!
I did get their burger and fries also knowing it wouldn’t disappoint. It didn’t. The burger had great flavor (yay! Midwest beef!) and the fries were delish– nice and crunchy. Important, right??! There are plenty of other sandwich options that I also like, but they are known for great steaks.
Stop by and check The Depot out. Nice bar area and outdoor seating for when Iowa has good weather. Charming and comfortable interior décor.
So nice to see local eateries like this. I will definitely stop when in town again.

I have never had a bad experience here. The food is always delicious, and the service is nothing short of excellent. They have absolutely amazing appetizers, my favorites are the fried pickles and the onion rings/​onion blossom. The Ruben that they offer is to die for. The food here is very fairly priced. But if you go on a Wednesday it is half price burger night and it is even cheaper. They have this one burger there it is called the Old Hickory and I would totally recommend because it is AMAZING. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody.

Previously Gurney’s and now under new ownership. Great small town steakhouse. Not fancy or part of a chain. Yummy food at a good price. Large menu that includes pizza, steaks, pork chops…
