This was my first time at this restaurant. I purchased 2 dinner-size orders of Curried Chicken for $ 8.50ea. Each dinner consisted of several large pieces of curried chicken, beans/rice and cabbage. The portions were huge. My fiancé and I ate the whole thing! It was delicious. I didn’t think to take photos until I was done eating. Sorry! The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. I will certainly return again.

This is the blandest Jamaican food I have ever had. What happened? Back in the day it was ok… now it is horrible. The jerk chicken I ordered taste like regular baked chicken with barely any seasoning. Then they gave side containers of curry and jerk sauce. Is pouring some watered down sauce on top supposed to make it official. We got an order of curry chicken as well and it was equally as bad. I will have to find another Jamaican spot.

This is the worst Negril ever. No offense but this is the only Negril that has Latino cooks and that explains why the jerk chicken is dry and horrible. The best Negril is in silver spring

Decent consistent Jamaican cuisine. Prices are decent and staff is always friendly. I would definitely place a call ahead order for their entrees, especially on the weekend.

Two stars for being clean, well lit and polite servers. If you are looking for AUTHENTIC Jamaican food, don’t wats your time or $$. I first went and had their curry goat. Meh, it was alright, rather bland. I was so excited to find an island spot after moving from FlA, I let it go. Next, I had their chicken soup. Better but missing allspice which I find to be a staple seasoning in such dishes but still a good effort. Then I tried a chicken patty. DRY! The last straw was the jerk chicken. It was so Not jerk and so bland that I threw it out after 2 attempts to eat it. I try to NEVER throw out food. I asked the cashier repeatedly if they have Jamaicans in the kitchen. No self respecting Jamaican would serve this as jerk chicken.

Slow service and the food is worse. It’s like eating hospital food. I’ve tried the curry chicken & jerk chicken recently and it was super bland. No kick whatsoever. The best thing is the beef patties.

Just the worst, whoever said this place was good/decent is lying, these cooks can’t be from the islands. Ok so I’m pissed this food just went in the trash

I’ve always love stopping by to pick up, not one, but two meals(curry goat and chicken). I haven’t tried their jerk chicken, yet, but will in the future. I have informed other people about this famously, deliciously place for excellent Caribbean food. I have patronized this restaurant for at least 8 years, I’ve known of its existence. Love it!!! I prefer this restaurant over the Flex restaurant, located in California, MD. Negril has THE best red beans and rice. Not dry. Of course, you don’t get a lot of bones in your curry chicken or goat, like the Flex restaurant. With Negril, you truly get meat. The beef patties at Negril are to die for. Not dry, or sitting in the spin warmer all day. Fresh!!!

The customer service SUCK. Called in the order the guy said 15 – 20 minutes. Waited over 30 minutes to pickup order. Get there give name, no order, then the guy said«oh I forgot to put it in, what did you order». Had to wait again, get home and the order is wrong. Its been a while since i last patronized this place and after this I am done. employees on cell phone, bad attitude and not attentive.

The jerk chicken sandwich is delicious. I haven’t tried anything else. The line is always long so I recommend you call ahead.

Coco bread is manageable chicken patty is manageable, their fish is manageable. But I can’t continue to manage their food if their food is not worth me dealing with rude cashiers. Negril used to be good but now it’s bland.

So, I go here a lot because it’s around the corner. It’s just what I expect to eat when I go to a caribbean eatery. The food is consistent, I have no complaints. Negril never disappoints. They have the best coco bread anywhere though, I’ve rarely had better. The fruit punch is the absolute best! My husband loves the jerk chicken, I’m a curry goat/oxtail girl. Dinner comes with stir-fry veggies(caribbean stir-fry is cabbage w/various mixed veggies) and rice and peas(small red beans and rice cooked with coconut milk and seasoning) for the unfamiliar. Never had a better jerk chicken sandwich anywhere. Jerk chicken sandwich comes with lettuce, jerk chicken and sesame dressing on coco bread. YUM! The patties are good too, they have beef, chicken and veggie. Don’t expect to have your socks knocked off with fall-all-over-you service because that’s not the caribbean way, but the good food is. So just order and eat.

Where do I start? Nastiest so called jamaican food I’ve ever had. The jerk chicken was dry and tasteless. Peas and rice were not the traditional Jamaican staple. After eating home cooked Jamacian food in Jamacia, I doubt I’ll find anything close to that in the DMV. Definitely not this ratchet place!

Ok I know I gave a better review before but what happen to the patties? Went there this evening and the patties were not even chewabl, crust only! Chicken and beef disappeared! I called 4 times and waited on hold for 6 minutes(the initial call), I hang up call back twice to be rudely placed on hold then again she set the phone down and hung up. Finally I asked for manger told her you never just place a person on hold you ask them cs101! However I will be bringing the patties back and want my refund. Never again for a patty! Dry dry dry. Non chalant ride attitude will get you know where.

Pretty dang good!!! I got the rice and peas with gravy and the beef patties and lemme tell you, it was great! Lol full of flavor and a good price for the amount of food your getting! The coco bread is tasty too nice and sweet, very comforting food! Better than Popeyes and Chinese food next to it that’s for sure

SSsooo I have been going to this Negril for over 5 years. When I first started going here I just loved there food! From the Coco Bread, Oxtails, Jerk Wings, Carrot Cake was phenomenal. But unfortunately the last 3 times I have been there which is over the past year I’ve noticed that the quality of the food has gone down. Oxtails aren’t tender like they used to be. Cabbage taste has lost it’s soul and kick. Rice and beans were just ok. Now I avoid this spot and head straight to Muffin Man when I can or just don’t go at all. Just not worth it anymore. Very disappointing.

I’m finally doing my review after visiting here a million times. I get the same thing everytime: beef patty, coco bread, carrot cake and a pineapple soda. And I have no complaints what so ever. The staff here are wonderful and so polite. I have purchased beef patty and coco bread from other places, and I swear that it’s a frozen patty and bread that is then microwaved, but not at Negril. Everything is fresh and delicious and so inexpensive. That’s why I keep coming back.

I would give this establishment a 5 based on their rum cake. It is consistently moist and delicious. The service brings the overall number down. I’ve been here more times than I can count and the majority of the times the services is mediocre. The rum cake is like the pied piper and lulls me in every time. Their chicken roti and veggie stew are decent. I typically like my cabbage soft, however I must say I do like their crunchy version. I like that they have a nice selection of Ever Fresh bottled drinks. I believe the flavors at this establishment are for American franchise pallets. Pretty good, however not authentic flavors. I must add that their Sorrel is pretty good.

Disclaimer: This review is solely based on customer service. In order to be employed at this restaurant, you must have a bad attitude! Anyways, my mom wanted to get a small platter of jerk chicken wings for an event that she was having at her office(about 20 wings). Before we left the house, we called Negril about three times and no one answered the phone. So, we decided to drive to the restaurant to see if we could place an order. We called around 7PM because we were fully aware that they closed at 9PM. Now, I’ve been eating at Negril for years, and their customer service has never been great, but this time it was awful. My mother and I walk up to the counter and explain how we were interested in purchasing a SMALL platter of wings. First, of all, the woman at the counter automatically tells us «no» and that she doesn’t have any chicken available for that portion. Then, she turns around and starts yelling towards the kitchen asking if they had any jerk chicken available. As she was yelling, the people in the kitchen were yelling back and giving her mixed answers. Eventually, the loud obnoxious woman at the counter turns back around and says, «No we don’t have any jerk chicken available for that size». She then proceeded to give my mother and I a lecture on how we should’ve called earlier and placed an order and how this request was too big(We did call almost 1 hour before, but no one answered). She also tried to lecture us about the restaurants hours and how they were closing soon and we came in too late to order such a «large» portion. She was very loud, obnoxious, and ridiculous. We were so annoyed with this unprofessionalism! As we were leaving one of the guys who worked at Negril came up to us and basically explained that there was jerk chicken available and he would be able to get it ready for us. He was so sweet and patient, unlike the other ridiculous woman at the register(I am giving them two stars because of his kind attitude). If you hate your job so much, you should find another one. Who would turn down money simply because you don’t feel like doing your job? Oh a lazy person… I am not eating here again. They are unprofessional and lazy. It’s sad because their food is actually pretty decent. They should consider giving their employees costumer service training. I will take my money elsewhere.
