Tried for the first time today. OMG! I have no complaints and I am the pickiest eater. The ice tea was fabulous! It was made with rosewater, tasted vlean, soft, and refreshing. The hummus was perfect. I had the shrimp kabob with salad. Must try their house dressing. They sell it as well. My friend purchased some to take home. I lived in Houston for years and they had some great Mediterranean food, but this place beats them.

Ordered the Dinner for Two. Came w a choice of soup or salads for the each of us, an app sampler, and then a plate of kebabs, rice and veggies. The sauces are to die for. Love it!!! Reasonably priced.

Not from Mobile and wanted to try some place delicious before driving home so I checked Unilocal and found this place. Ordered the grape leaves and Zazza(?) appetisers. Both were delicious. The Lebanese ice tea was amazing. Got a basic chicken shawarma and my partner got the gyros. Both were perfect. Our waitress was attentive and personable. I loved the fact this is behind the grocery section. Definitely did a little shopping there after and found some awesome random items, like the mars bars and chocolate flakes! Definitely left mobile with a good taste in my mouth.

What a deal! I went by myself and ended up with way too much food. I purchased the veggie platter, baklava and Lebanese iced tea for about $ 17. The grape leaves were my favorite.

Hidden gem of a restaurant and great grocery store! Got the Lebanese salad and vegetarian sampler entrée. Both were delicious and serving size was plenty for 2! Not from the area, but would definitely return!

I’ve been there a couple times and they’re always packed for lunch time. I squeezed in there finally while it was slower and the food is quite flavorful! I had the Spinach pastry and the chicken shawarma wrap. They’re both delicious! Must goto if you’re craving Mediterranean.

Hidden gem! This place is hidden in the back of a grocery store. I like that its clandestine like that. The restaurant has good food and has a nice atmosphere even though it’s in a grocery store. The best part is they let you bring your own alcohol and don’t charge you for it, no corkage fee. Be warned that the grocery store doesn’t sell alcohol so buy it on your own before hand!

Ok. Lentil soup hot, spicy and savory served w baked pita croutons. Falafel was dense, dry and the accompannying fries were. Well. Some were overcooked and some under cooked. Mediterranean dance music a little loud for me overhead. Windex spraying on adjacent tables being cleaned up. Standard 2 star stuff. Back to the highway now! Ciao.

*please note this review is for the resturaunt only, not the grocery part of the store since we didn’t really look or purchase anything. Thank you* Maybe the reviews set us up to be swept away, but BF and I decided to give this place a try and we left with the impression that it was a lot of hype and nothing made us go «WOW! Can’t wait to go back…» The service was fine. Our server was tenative and made sure our drinks were never empty. He made a few reccomendations including the Chicken Schwarma. We got an appetizer and it was fried potatoes with some spices(don’t remember the name, sorry!). It was fresh and hot, but nothing special. BF got the Chicken Schwarma from the sandwich menu and I got the lamb kabob pita. We both got fries and salad as well, which was included. BF’S chicken Schwarma was really flavorful and seasoned well. The lamb on my pita was tender and seasoned well. Both of our sandwiches had LOTS of pickles on them. I ended up pulling some off and I like pickles, but it was too much. There wasn’t as much meat in either of our sandwiches. The service was good. The food was fresh and hot but lacking anything«special» or giving it that«wow factor.» The restaurant is also very dark which is OK I guess. Overall our experience was OK, but we won’t be rushing back, which is a shame because we love Mediterranean food :(

5 stars still on service and food! Went for lunch on Vday and food took a little longer than usual due to the restaurant being packed. Servers anticipate your needs and always give great suggestions and know the menu very well. I love it here and the drive from MS is always worth it. One note though, food today seemed bigger and more generous compared to the last time we were here… I have to check next time just to be sure and give accurate update. I do hope it stays consistent.

5 stars for most of the food I have had from this restaurant — lamb kebabs, gyros, hummus, baba ganouj, grape leaves, carrot and lentil soups. Substracting 1 star for the flavorless sides(the rice and the so-called grilled veggies) and the dark dining room that lacks ambiance and character.

Everything is so good and the portions are very generous. Whenever my husband goes through Mobile he stops here and has lunch and brings me falafel. I’ve yet to have falafel anywhere in the country that is as tasty as the ones this place makes. It’s just that good!

Definitely a little hidden gem of Mobile. 7 spice is both a grocery and restaurant. The restaurant is hidden in the back of the grocery and it kind of feels like walking into a mafia den when entering because you won’t notice the restaurant at all at first. And then BAM! This restaurant is phenomenally decored. And the sent of the grocery with the cooking food in the restaurant will take your breath away. The food is superb, but make sure to ask the server want to order. As with most great restaurants the best things one the menu are often hidden. Everything is quite fresh(I mean they own the grocery so it kind of has to be). The hummus with Gyros is amazing. An always pick the lentil soup. But the prize I have found is the Moussaka! Tender beef laid upon fresh eggplant and topped with a delicious melted cheese. It is always fantastic! It melts in your mouth. No alcohol is served here… but I would suggest some lovely Lebanese tea. Very simple recipe, but one that will awaken your taste buds. It just tastes so refreshing. Enjoy!

Don’t be put off by the grocery in the front — this place is small but classy. Lentil soup? Excellent! The falafel and hummus sammich? Over the top! Our server, Artavia, was great, the food came out quickly, and we were checked up on frequently. Decent selection of vegetarian appetizers, sammiches, and entrees. If we lived in Mobile, we’d eat here often!

Brilliant! Simply brilliant! My son and I went to this restaurant on the basis of the other reviews and let me tell you the reviews were spot on. I hadn’t told my son about how you get to the restaurant and he was pretty skeptical. You walk through a bright deli, with lots of interesting food. Keep walking and there is a restaurant out back. Nice, cozy place. A short wait and we were sat down. We started with the baba ganoush. Delightful, nutty flavor with just the right amount of creaminess. My son ordered a gyro plate which came with a soup — he chose the carrot. I chose a lamb kebab, also with the carrot soup. Both meals also came with a yogurt sauce, grilled veges, rice, and pita. To put it simply, both meals exceeded expectations. Service was simple, straight forward and friendly, and a credit to the restaurant. You really cannot do much better than this in terms of value for money. You also get the added experience of getting to the restaurant as well.

This place was recommended by a man from Turkey, and being lovers of Mediterranean food, we had to try it. The first time I walked in this place, I was expecting a food bar with to-go meals inside of a divey little grocery store. This is not the case at all, and since I was in a hurry, I decided to try it at a later time. So we did just that. The restaurant is in the back of the grocery store. Walking in, you’ll notice all of the dark wood and nice ethnic décor. This is definitely not a dive. We were promptly greeted and seated by a very polite gentleman, then a came our waiter who took great care of us while we dined. I ordered regular tea, my friend ordered the tea with rose water, and my husband ordered the mango juice. Since we were trying a new place, we had to sample a couple of appetizers. We decided on the baba ganoush and a pie-like pastry stuffed with spinach and cheese. It wasn’t spanakopita, but I thought it was even better. We’ll definitely get those next time. For my meal, I had the chicken shawarma, which came with a garlic paste to compliment the chicken. My hubby had the gyro platter, which was slices of lamb/beef and a side of pita bread. Our friend had something that was spanakopita, but called something else. All platters came with grilled veggies and rice. Theirs came with tzatziki sauce, which I will ask for next time. The platters also came with a choice of soup or salad. The hubs had the lentil soup, which he said was the best he’s ever had. Bev and I both had the salad. I don’t normally eat salad, but I couldn’t stop eating this one! The citrus dressing was phenomenal. It was a simple salad with fresh lettuce, a few shreds of carrots, slices of cucumber and chunks of mild, white cheese… but oh that dressing! For dessert, we tried two things, neither of which I can remember the name.(Sorry). The one I will order again is the sweet cheese sticks wrapped in phyllo dough and drizzled with honey and sprinkled with pistachios. All of this food was only about $ 65, which is super inexpensive! On the way out, we checked out the grocery part of 7 Spice Grocery & Grill. It didn’t disappoint either. They have big bottles of spices for $ 2-$ 3. I bought a 6 inch jar of dried Rosemary for about $ 2.50. The hubs checked out the huge selection of juices and sodas and finally settled on an apple soda, which was great. Bev was wowed by the large selection of teas and candy. They had huge bags of different types of rice for cheap. All of the prices were reasonable. We also enjoyed looking at all of the hookah pipes, even though we don’t smoke. Some of them were very pretty and they seemed to have a large variety of tobaccos. I was really impressed with both the grill and the grocery store. We will definitely go back to both!

Hidden but not for long. Was on my own for lunch found 7 Spice close by and gave it a try. Grill is located in a small strip mall in the back of the Mediterranean Grocery. You’ve got to love that if you’ve ever eaten at a place that also a grocery. Ok the Food, tried the Chicken Shawarma sandwich, roasted veggies & Lentil soup. Sandwich wrapped in pita was flavorful, juice, and very satisfying. Veggies great. Lentil soup was off the charts. Wait staff was tops, made everything more enjoyable. We will return.

What a hidden gem in Mobile, AL. Located on Airport Blvd. 7 spice is a grocery store with a restaurant located in the back. While I have eaten here twice, I am totally looking forward to dining here again, it’s that good. While I haven’t purchased anything from the small grocery store, it seems to have everything. They sell unique items that are classic such as a variety of hookahs, an olive bar, desserts, Greek spices, a refrigerated area with Mediterranean selections such as boneless lamb. The wait staff is very professional and knowledgable of the menu. Being that I am still a newbie to Mediterranean cuisine, I am still learning how to pronounce the entrees. Both times I have dined here, the servers were very patient and answered every question I had. They didn’t make me feel dumb for asking. They will sell you a small container of the citrus salad dressing or the garlic paste which is made in house. All you need to do is ask, both are very excellent! They also do takeout, just call ahead! A must try when in Mobile, AL. and could possibly be the best in the Mobile area.
