Nice furniture. Good selections, in all price ranges. Friendly staff(Fred). Very helpful. Great follow up. Delivery charge was more than i believed expectable. I Agreed a delivery charge is probably needed with today’s fuel and labor. Just keep it fair.

In writing this review I am taking direct aim at Barrows products. The staff and service dept. at Barrows are great and they all get 5 stars but I can only give their products barely 2 stars and here’s why: Virtually every piece of furniture I have bought from them seems to incorporate what I call«Friday afternoon craftsmanship» and by that what I mean is that it does not hold up very well and comfort-wise it seems to have been slung together right at quitting time on a Friday afternoon. This seems to mostly be the case with their line of sofas and and recliners. Apart from that it doesn’t even hold up very well just after a few years of gentle usage! Over the past 15 or so years my wife and I purchased furniture from Barrows and each and every time this seems to have been the occurrence. The last sofa we bought from them was a Rowe brand. The store model we tried out felt plush and comfortable so chose a fabric pattern and ordered it. When we received it, it was… well…not quite as comfortable like the one in the store but I just chalked that up to needing a time to perhaps break itself in. We took good care of it and even purchased a cover to protect the fabric yet after only 5 years of(again gentle) usage it was like this sofa was falling apart! Stitching seams were unraveling, the supports that held the sofa up wobbled and the internal structure popped and creaked and in some places stuck out under the fabric! I would expect this out of a sofa that was 30 or more years old but not after just a few measly 5 or so years of moderate use! On a related note my mom purchased a couch, ottoman, and 2 recliners from them barely 3 years ago. I don’t recall the brand names yet every piece she bought has developed the same issues as the ones I mentioned above. All warranties aside these furniture items should not be breaking down this soon, should they!?? Regarding the couch she bought, she described the same model couch she had tried out in the store as being comfortable and firm yet when you sit on the same exact model she ordered it’s like you sink into it every time you sit down! After a while your back starts to feel uncomfortable. I don’t know who Barrow’s has building their furniture but their quality stinks! Crazy as this may sound I cant help but wonder if they are building the store models someplace here in the USA to the highest standards of comfort and quality as to attract you to buy these items only to have what you order be made at some offshore chop shop and break down after a few years making you come back for more! I’m not accusing Barrows of doing this… but it does make me wonder!!! I’ve seen furniture at antique stores that was made 50 to 100 years ago and still holding up well compared to some of the junk coming out of Barrow’s. I own 2 chairs built back in 1981 that was given to me by my mom. Including 30+ years of usage, food stains and kids jumping on them these chairs are still holding up well to this day! I think if you try this same treatment with some the furniture from Barrows it probably wouldn’t last a year! Sorry, but the next time we buy furniture I think we’ll go anywhere but Barrows!

My mother has shopped here for years, and the quality of her furnishings is really outstanding. I didn’t realize her dining room set that still looks immaculate she bought from Barrow’s close to ten years ago. So when she suggested I look at Barrow’s for some«good» pieces of furniture(not dorm, throw away items… but solid heirloom pieces) I was truly interested and curious since my husband and I have a unique since of style that can be hard to pinpoint. Even though the outside of Barrow’s looks… well, unassumingly boring and outdated(just being honest). They really have an excellent selection of fine furniture. No matter if you love rustic luxe, modern, traditional, transitional, urban chic, shabby chic, country, contemporary or eclectic they have a little something for everyone. I was pleasantly surprised with their in stock items, custom upholstery options and list of fine furniture they can order and have shipped directly to your house. They can even ship nationwide, just be aware that you will incur freight charges. Also, they have designers on sight that can help you put together your ideal condo, bedroom, living room, etc. So with the selection alone, I was well pleased with all the eye candy that was scattered throughout the store. As far as customer service, everyone was very nice, but all I can say is ask for Michael! ASK for Michael. Um, yes, again for emphasis the crowd says, «Ask for Michael!» I am a stickler for customer service, and Michael truly has gone above and beyond the call of duty to exceed my expectations. Presently my husband and I live out of state, and this man found sales(called us when new sales came available), found the weight of all 8 pieces of furniture that we were looking at(FYI: the weight wasn’t available in the catalogue so he had to call the factory), calculated freight charges from Pensacola to my destination and even was willing to hold the furniture in Barrow’s warehouse until my new home was ready at no additional charge. He worked out payment options, that allowed me to pay cash since I don’t like the idea of buying furniture on credit and never pressured me or my mother to buy one item, and even suggested that I call another Thomasville furniture company that’s close to my destination to compare prices. Michael even sent out a lovely postcard saying how he enjoyed meeting my mother and me. This gentleman is truly a top sales person, and my experience was truly five star, two high-fives, grade A Unilocal worthy!
