These people who rated it so high, obviously have not gone to another places. FYI, you reviewers have been tricked. This place is robbing people. Just about everything, if not all are way over priced. There was a six pack of beer which is about 2 – 4 dollars more while Publix is right across the road for less. Icelandic Porter beer, two dollars less at other grocery stores as well. Rogue — Mocha Porter, they charge for 16.99 but you can find one for 12 bucks at other stores. If you dare to set your foot in there, be prepared to get robbed.

CRAFTBEER!!! This is the best place fire craft beer in Mobile. I ask to talk to Kitzman whenever I go in because he really knows what he is talking about. If it can be gotten in Mobile they have had it or had it and sold out. They have about 10 beers on draft to go for growler fills. Ask for a sample because they are happy to have you try before you buy. I especially look for Sweetwater, Stone, Against The Grain, and Cigar City. If curse they have lots of other stuff but I haven’t seen as good of a selection of those breweries in any other beer store in Alabama. I’m not a smoker but I understand that they have a great selection if cigars. While I say beer is the star of the show here, they do have a really good selection of liquor too. So, stop in, ask some questions, try some of the draft selection, and leave with something for everyone at the party.

Was driving through and heard a commercial for this store on the radio. Decided on a whim to pop in and check out the local selection. We enjoyed an unexpected mini-tasting of some great local brews on tap in their growler/canning station. Had a lovely convo with Chris who was extremely helpful and hospitable. So glad we popped in here!

For Mobile, Alabama, I was surprised to see such a good selection of craft beer. I was visiting from California and found that there was a craft beer store 13 miles from the airport. I went straight to Cottage Hill Package Store from the airport and spent about an hour there. I got everything that I needed and the gentlemen that worked there were also very helpful. I have seen some reviews that said that they are expensive, so I was expecting to pay a little more than usual for craft beer. However, once I got there and started browsing, I realized that the people stating that they were expensive must be used to buying Bud Light or Busch at their local gas station. The prices here are comparable to the prices that I always pay when I buy craft beer. You get what you pay for and Cottage Hill Package Store has what you need if you are a craft beer snob like me. Next time I am in Mobile, I will be returning.

The craft beer selection was pretty good, but the customer service and professionalism was pretty horrible. When I walked in, it didn’t look like they sold individuals of things that come in 4 and 6 packs but I asked just in case because it is pretty standard beer store protocol to do so, and they responded saying«that would make inventory insane», and I said«oh ok, I’ve been to many beer stores who do sell singles so I wanted to check», and then the cashier guy chimes in with«yeah stores that do that also push old beer to the front»… and then what do I find at the front of their shelves but some beers that were best by dates past. Hysterical. I found it unprofessional for them to bash other beer stores, and felt they were degrading my knowledge and experience of beer because I am a woman. They also didn’t even have a box for all the beer I bought nor ask if I wanted my receipt.

What a great selection of craft beer! Both of the men working there tonight we’re very knowledgeable and welcoming. They were helpful and also respectful of what we were really interested in. I can’t say enough positive about the incredible selection and positive vibe. Super selection ready to go in the nice cool room(walk in chiller) and auxiliary chillers. They also had draft to fill growlers, but we went for craft bottles. Definitely THE store for craft beer lovers! We found it on Unilocal and drove cross town from our hotel to get there. Well worth it. We are enjoying great beer right now. This is now our beer source whenever we are in Mobile. Thanks, guys. You can tell that they love what they do.

Russ, Jon… I am forever grateful for your hospitality and kindness. A world-class beer and liquor selection from all over the country and right to Mobile, AL. How do you beat an incredibly knowledgable Irishman and a friendly guy in a hat? With free samples, great conversation and fantastic recommendation skills. THAT’S how. They took their time, walked us around the store and spit some true ‘Bama brew know how into my California palette. If I am ever back in Mobile, THIS will be my first stop.

This is my goto place for craft beer. Mainly because it’s the only place for craft beer. The only downside is the prices. I mean, a 4 pack of Piraat Ale for $ 16? OUCH! But you know what? I still bought it. Where else can I get a fine Belgian IPA like that? They stock a great deal of beers from some of the usual suspects, Bells, Great Divide, Flying Dog, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, and they have many of the specialty and seasonal brews from these places too. I just bought 22oz Great Divide Chocolate Yeti for $ 9, yeah, that’s not cheap, but life is too short to drink crappy beer. They have a walk-in cooler and a walk-in humidor for you ciigar smokers, but I suspect their cigar prices are on par with their beer prices. The guys that work there are helpful enough and know a lot about beer. The new Publix on Airport is stocking a lot of beers by Great Divide, Bell’s and Sierra Nevada, so they may steal some business from this place, but until Publix starts stocking the seasonals and the specialty brands, I don’t mind paying a little extra to keep this place going. I’m starting to ask for some specific beers from Bell’s(home) when they get released. Let’s see if I can talk them into it. I really need my Oracle this year.

Good selection of craft beer, with several local options. About 5 shelves worth of room temperature beer and a cooler full of additional offerings. They even have a handful of taps for sampling. Liquor and cigars are also offered here, if you’re into that sort of thing, but for me it’s all about the beer. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and love good beer.

Interesting beer selection, both keg and by the gallon. A few good wines, but overpriced. You can find better prices elsewhere. Customer service is smugly friendly, in a pub sort of way. They are chatty, but try to carry out 3 or 4 bottles of wine crammed into a thin paper sack. What? Unfortunately, in a small town like Mobile, poor customer selection and service is tolerated due to lack of competition. This business couldn’t survive in a major or mid size market., but will continue to be one of the few choices in west Mobile.

I travel extensively and have seen my share of liquor stores in big cities. Considering the scale, Cottage Hill Package Store compares very favorably with some of the better ones I have visited. They have a very good selection of craft beers, which is of particular interest to me. It contains probably the best variety in Southern Alabama. The staff is knowledgeable and it is evident that they make an effort to bring in new craft and imported beers as they become available to the distributors in this region. The store is not huge, but makes efficient use of available space. They appear to have a decent selection of wine and liquor as well. Two things stand out to me: They have 5 or 6 kegs of beer on tap, from which to sample some of their offerings. Also, on certain evenings, they offer a smoking area where you may smoke a cigar purchased from their humidor, while sampling some of the draft beer.
