Kan Zaman Cafe

Absolutely the POOREST place I’ve ever been to. The hookah is TERRIBLE and the service is soooooo poor. The food tastes dry and burnt and everything is just over priced for the quality. To add injury to the insult, the waitress adds her own tip even though she knows she did a poor job. and she is neglectful. She did not clean the table she say is at, she did not give silverware, she had no idea about the food on the menu and to add to top it off she did say down after we asked her for a desert. DO NOT GO HERE!

Ok first off this review will be a little wordy but I smoke hookah and this review is strictly about the hookah service.
I’ve been there twice, the first time was just ok, the second time was just horrible. I ordered a hookah and to Kan Zaman’s credit they are much much better than the crappy Ollie’s (both locations, Ollie’s shouldn’t even be allowed to serve hookah the service there was just non existent) but back to KZ.
I ordered a hookah on the second trip and like my first visit it came out pretty quick, flavor was ok but the thing about hookah is I smoke a lot of hookah so I immediately know if it’s a bad hookah or if it was prepared quickly or poorly. The hookah was about a ⁶⁄₁₀ itself, the service this time was just a tad bit above Ollie’s which was non existent.
I asked for another coal to be added to the bowl the guy said ok, after a while as in 15 minutes (I know it takes a while for coconuts coals to be fully lit but this was about 15 minutes) I assumed he forgot WHICH HE DID. No problems, stuff happens so I asked the other server who also said ok, after I literally watched the time (which this times was closer to 20 minutes) I assumed she forgot also, WHICH SHE DID. So I got up to mention it to somebody, ANYBODY. But because the two coals had already burned down at this point I needed 3 coals to continue smoking now, so I asked for 3 new coals to be brought out, which after about 5 minutes she brought out.
She mentioned to me, nobody knew in «the back» that I asked for coals, I started to say «I asked two different people, and both of those people went «to the back» after I asked them. So how could somebody «in the back» not know about it. I mean its a place that serves hookah so I would except them to check on the coals every so often which they did after they realized how bad the service was. A few of the servers (not all) were more concerned with gossiping then checking on the coals. The first visit was ok-​ish but this one was just bad, not bad enough to make me go to Ollie’s but is was bad.
As a restaurant I cannot comment on this place, as I haven’t eaten there, I don’t know if I’ll go back but if I do I may or may not order a hookah. I’ll leave that for other people to talk about but to their credit the hookahs were clean, and the shisha flavors are many and they fact they they mainly use coconut coals is nice and so much better than the nasty quick lights that Ollie’s use and I hear they have Lemonwood coals which is another type of coal I use whenever I smoke when I travel.
But outside the US the (hookah) service I experienced today WOULD DEFINITELY NOT BE ACCEPTABLE. I found this place by mistake so I don’t know how new it is, but I hope they don’t treat all their patrons like this. I may or may not be going back to KZ. We ordered a dish of kabsah and some hummus. The food looks good and tastes good too but nothing special. The place is clean but the service is slow, very slow. Make sure to order your food before getting there. 4 stars because the meat was awesome!
