I don’t typically eat at a lot of chain restaurants, but I don’t consider McAlister’s a chain. I’ve eaten at the original location more than all of the other locations combined. They proudly display a painted wooden sign boasting«An Oxford Original Since 1989.» The original restaurant is actually in the movie«The Heart of Dixie» which was also released in 1989. I’ve digressed, so I’ll just get to the point. My favorite thing to order is the club sandwich and a side of fruit or soup. They have great soups. Their muffulettas are spot on and huge. A fourth of one will fill you up. I used to love the pot roast potato, but I haven’t ordered those much since the potatoes have gotten so much smaller. My husband’s favorite thing about McAlister’s is the Rotel and chips because he just loves Rotel. He likes the Memphian too, but I think I’m still his favorite Memphian. My sons like the Reubens. The cookies and brownies are great too. Of course, McAlister’s is famous for their Sweet Tea. The prices are average for a soup and sandwich shop. The service is always friendly. I guess McAlister’s holds a special place in my heart, but I really do love the food too! I will never, ever accept that it is now a chain.

Interesting place… the food is excellent and it has a geat location for the Regal theater or the new mall with Costo.. What was most impressive with this place were the kids who staff it. They genuinely are trying to make people feel welcome and that they are special customers. The service was quick, the food fresh and the people 6 stars. Congratulations to the management. Whatever you are doing to help this occur you should package and sell as this venue of restaurant in Mobile seriously needs an injection of this type of service.

My fiancé and I have stopped here twice and both times we’ve loved it! They are great for lunch with tons of sandwich, salad, & potato choices. They have several flavors of hand brewed teas and lemonade.

It’s been a while since I’ve eaten at a McAlister’s and I have to say… I REALLY need to start eating here more often! It was just what I needed. Not too heavy but not too light either. I mean, there’s nothing worse than eating lunch and being hungry 20 minutes later! I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad and it was perfect! The lettuce was fresh, the dressing was very tasty and the chicken was cooked just right. The staff was friendly and very helpful and the atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful. I will definitely be eating here again.

Does anyone know why they have the word«Deli» in their name? There is nothing deli about this place. They have what should be a deli case, but it was just filled with decorations. I ordered the Smoky Pepper Jack Turkey. For a grilled sandwich, it was lukewarm at best, and I would bet it was nuked. The turkey itself tasted like the cheap prepackaged stuff you buy at the grocery store. The cheese and sauce on it were both bland. It was a lot like cafeteria food. Bleh. For the quality they are serving, they are wicked overpriced! My sandwich, Sun Chips, wimpy pickle spear and Coke cost over 9 bucks. Ridiculous! Tip: If you made it here, turn around and go to the Five Guys you passed getting here.

McAlister’s used to be one of my favorite lunch spots. However, the last 2 times I have visited I have noticed that the food quality has gone way down hill. For the first visit I orderd a salad. The lettuce was inedible. It was the type that is frozen but yet so frozen it had wilted. I was only able to salvage the chicken off the salad. Due to that incident I ordered a menu staple this past time, the grilled chicken spud. When the food came out they brought me a spud Olé. I sent it back and they returned with the right order this time. However, the cheese wasn’t quite melted and the potato was really hard. I would say I would rate the food as one star but I gave the restaurant 2 stars because the staff was friendly.

Nice little restaurant to have sub-like sandwiches. I’ve never had bad service here. Great place to get a quick lunch. I usually get lunch here or pick up a sandwich on my way home. This McAlister’s Deli is in a good location. Not hard to get in and out of. It’s usually never crowded, so no long waits for service.
