I’m all about service and this place has it! Very prompt and welcoming. The food is cooked to order for the fried food but the short wait is worth it! I tried the catfish and the crab fingers. And loved them! The seasoning is just right and the amount is hearty! I also had the crab cake. OMG! I have never had a crab cake where the crab was just falling out of it. I highly recommend it! The shrimp are jumbo, and have a little kick. The sausage and chicken gumbo wasn’t spicy but was very flavorful. The broccoli wasn’t anything special but it was good.

Went to the boiling pot for a simple lunch with friends. The portions were huge, even for the small plate, and honestly, I though the food was better than The Shrimp Basket. I got the catfish plate with fries and shrimp jambalaya. My wife got the shrimp poboy which easily had 16 – 20 medium-sized shrimp… huge. My friends got the sampler plate and steamed crab legs. We all agreed the food was better than The Shrimp Basket, with larger portions, for the same price or less. We definitely will return.

Good if you’re craving seafood & don’t want to go on the Causeway, this is a good choice. A little overpriced though without the«on the water, with a view» experience.

Fun place with really good food! Pick your choice of fried, steamed or boiled off a board & order at the counter. Wait for your number to be called & chow down on some good seafood. Generous servings of both entrees & sides. No beer but they have sweet tea, water, & soda pops.

One of the better seafood restaurants in town. Prices are quite high but you definitely get what you pay for.

I’ve been eating here for years. The food is always fresh & customer service is always satisfactory. The quantity is also plentiful with most dishes. My only 2 complaints are 1.) They have gotten skimpy with the shrimp in the gumbo. 2.) They don’t serve the DELICIOUS cheese grits anymore:(Other than that, this place is pretty good. There are places of true competition bt for it’s location, it’s truely in the lead.

Ordered grilled shrimp with red potatoes and green beans. Shrimp was okay but nothing to jump up and down about. Not huge bites, but plenty served. Red potatoes were really good. Green beans were disappointing. I like crisp green beans, and these had been sitting in water for quite some time. That may be the cuisine, but not my preference. Paid $ 14 for this email — seemed a little high.

This is one of my favorite places in Mobile! Very good seafood. I like the spices they use on the fried seafood and even the fries !

Stopped by for dinner. Catfish was not bad. Fries were average but the service was pretty decent despite some of the reviews.

Relative to other Po Boys that I’ve had, I wasn’t particularly expressed with this place. They were also out of steamed crawfish, which was disappointing. I found that the bread wasn’t all that impressive. and neither were the fried crawfish. I would come back to try their grilled seafood, based on how popular this place is. Might have just ordered the wrong thing.

My buddy and i use to go here all the time when we worked down the street from this place. The fried plater portions here are ginormous! I think they have fried crawfish tails that are awesome!

Do you love fried oysters? Then this place is for you. This place is like a semi fast food — restaurant. You ordered your own food at the counter and pick your own seat. Growing up in Alabama, I’ve been to plenty of seafood restaurants here in the South. I love seafood, especially fried oysters! I’ve been to Oyster House and other seafood restaurants by the bay. However, I would rather go to The Boiling Pot. The price of the food in The Boiling Pot are cheaper and what I love the most about this place is that they give big portion. Usually, when I go to other seafood restaurants their fried oysters in a basket would cost $ 14 and up. The«cheap» one is the oyster poboys. My problem with those seafood restaurants is that they would charge $ 10 and up for their oyster poboys and yet they just give you this big piece of bread with lots of lettuce and when you look inside there are only 3 small pieces of fried oysters. So basically you’re paying for bread with lettuce. At The Boiling Pot I spent less money and I can get a bigger portion. And yes they taste as good as the fried oysters, fried jumbo shrimps, fried fish that I bought from the seafood restaurants at the bay.

Looks like a local place and glad we found it. The shrimp, catfish and chicken tenders all hit the spot. That was for 5 of us so not me. Cost was $ 60 for family of 5 so not bad. Good service and place was clean. Nothing fancy, just good seafood.

This is a carry out restaurant with tables for eating in the restaurant. I got the jumbo fried shrimp. They were big and firm with good flavor. The portion of shrimp was good. The breading was just about right. The jambalaya was good too. They only offer soft drinks. I would come back here again. They close early at 8PM.

I visited this place based on the reviews. I ordered the red potatoes, corn, and combo basket with fried shrimp, fried oysters, and fried catfish. The catfish was good and so were the red potatoes and corn. However, when I ate the shrimp there was a distinct after taste that was gross! I don’t know if the batter was old or the frying grease was old, but it had an old dirty taste. Even the smell of the restaurant was strange. If you go to this place stick with the red potatoes and corn.

We ordered the grill whitefish, shrimp Poboy and crab cakes, they were delicious. The only thing I don’t like is the staff sweeping the floor while we were eating, so dusty!

Good fast seafood poboys are what they do best, steamed platter corn overdone and potatoes way soft. …shrimp was not bad a bit smaller than the first time I went though.

Great authentic southern food. I loved the overstuffed poboys and seafood wraps. Everything was reasonably priced and definitely worth the money. I was passing through Mobile and I highly suggest stopping by this place if you want some southern style seafood sandwiches/wraps.

Man alive, the soft shell crab could easily become an addiction!!! Do not order the lunch, which comes with one crab. Order the dinner, with two crabs. You will disappointed if you finish your first crab and there isn’t another one in front of you. It’s so good! The place itself is definitely a dive but the food is good.

Boiling Pot should really just be listed as «seafood» rather than«cajun/creole» because it’s really just seafood. But, from what I ate, it was good seafood. I didn’t actually order — I just mooched off my family. My honey got the fried combo platter with shrimp, catfish and oysters. Older Stepson had the half catfish poboy, younger stepson had the kid’s pasta dinner. I had some of everything. The highlight of the meal was definitely the fried shrimp and the fried catfish. They were perfectly cooked, extra large shrimp and fish filets, with the perfect amount of breading(not too heavy, good flavor). I was meh on the oysters but I think that is more that I just don’t like oysters than anything wrong with the preparation here. The alfredo pasta was ok, but not spectacular, though I will say the portion was HUGE for a kid’s meal. Actually, ALL the portions were huge which is why none of my family finished their plates, allowing me to have a bit of everything. The half sandwich had two large catfish filets in it and was about 8−10″ long — I can’t imagine one person eating a full sandwich. My honey is a big eater but he only got halfway through his dinner platter — he should have ordered the lunch sized portion. Looking at what other people ordered, the steamed platters looked very good also. The tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were tasty. The service was a bit slow but they were pretty busy, and I am always willing to wait for quality. There isn’t much in the way of ambience — you order at the counter, the décor is very spartan. But who cares, the food is good! Two thumbs up!
