This the second Shrimp Basket that I’ve eaten at. I come here for their once a month oysters on the half shell specials. Such a deal if you like oysters on the half shell!!! Me and 5 buddies make it a point to come and have a enjoyable guys night out.
The décor at this location is neat and spacious.

Favorite location, much better than Tillmans Corner. We had white fish basket and shrimp basket and both were fried perfectly and quite tasty. Prices are as low as it gets and quality is first class. Sides of turnip greens were excellent.

The food here is FANTASTIC!!! This isn’t your typical theme restaurant where you overpay for grub just because they’ve set some sort of plastic ambience. The locals eat here, aight? The food is fried and served HOT!!! Fancy it isn’t. Clean it IS!!! We made a trip down to New Orleans and this was our lunch stop. Was one of our favorite meals on the trip. The crawfish basket here is GREAT!!! The wife had the shrimp basket, also equally yummy!!! Support your local mom & pop restaurants. Those big fake chain places, they have bank accounts big enough…

Horrible dining experience. The restaurant was filthy. The floor was absolutely nasty. The server took forever to take our order and bring our drinks. The smoked tuna dip was terrible, I only ate it because I was starving. Lucky I did eat it because after waiting 40 mins for our food we paid for the dip and our drinks and left. I will never go there again. The waitresses all looked terrible and miserable. The lunch I had at Ashland Pub down the street was much better. If you are considering eating at The Shrimp Basket do yourself a favor and go to Butch Cassidy’s or Ashland Pub instead.

I’m giving this two stars because the food was good, especially the cheese grits. However, the rest of the experience was terrible. We arrived to a mostly empty restaurant, except for one large party of guests. The floors were absolutely disgusting, with no effort being made to correct this. The place appeared to be staffed by numerous waitresses, who all appeared to be miserable. We proceeded to order our meal, at which point the long wait began (were the waitresses cooking our food?). Our food finally arrived, and it was better than I expected. We proceeded to eat as quickly as possible, so we could leave. Again, we waited forever just to pay our tab. The waitress came to our table to take our order, bring our food and collect our tab. I’m not sure what the issue was, considering the small amount of guests. Overall, one of the worst eating experiences of my life.

This is a nice place to bring the family for some good seafood without paying a ridiculous price. I took my entire family and almost everyone was impressed by the food. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice. And located right across from Old Dutch doesn’t hurt if you leave room for dessert!

Wish I could give a negative star rating. This place is awful. It’s dirty and the good is bland. The servers all look like they are miserable and they are clueless.

First time here and we definitely got our money’s worth. The grilled shrimp plate was perfectly seasoned and the shrimp weren’t over cooked. The seafood platter was well done and the portion was great! The cornmeal batter was light and crisp without being greasy. The sides were tasty and well portioned. Service came at a nice pace, our drinks never got empty and one of the managers stopped at our table to see how we were doing. Overall a good experience. We’ll be back and definitely will recommend to friends.

The food is good but the service is lacking. We went there today for lunch and they had all you can eat fried fish. Well there was 6 of us and we waited 10 minutes before a waitress came and got our drink order then another 10 before we got our drinks and she took our food order. We waited 40 minutes for our food to get out and as soon as it did my husband told our waitress to go ahead and bring him some more fried fish, well 30 minutes later and he still hadn’t gotten it and she brought our check with out asking if we needed anything else. The service at the Shrimp Basket in Gulf Shores is so much better. Was very disappointed today with the food and the service.

I give a one star because there is no lower rating than this. This is for the branch in old shell road. We ordered crab claws, Mexican sauce grilled shrimps, blackened shrimps and fried fish. And waited for 30 mins. Oh then we received an okay– tasting grilled shrimps. And we got fried fish and fried shrimps. We told her that we ordered for blackened shrimps. She took all the dishes and brought back blackened fish and fried shrimps. The fish was soggy and raw. Oh wait we never got our crab claws. If four orders can’t be processed right, I don’t know how else to rate. We never regret to spend on food, but this one was a blunder ! Later I took a goto box just to throw it out in the trash ! Service and food — trashy ! We expected lot after seeing its 4 star… Now we are greatly disappointed !

Had lunch here with about 15 co-​workers. The servers did a great job of getting everyone’s order in and to the table at the same time. They even divided the check correctly. Food was good, nothing to go out of the way for, but everyone enjoyed their lunch. As I said, what most impressed me was how well they handled our fairly large group.

As seafood goes in the South — it is good food. Most of the Food is served in baskets– hence the name. Nice portions. But the menu is lacking for your friends that want to join you but — do not really eat seafood.
My coconut shrimp was great — but I should have ordered the ½ size because I could not finish it all and the sweet began to get too much. Popcorn Shrimp nice size and very good. Fried Okra always hot and crisp. Great location for this place — used to be the Naman’s Market– more places are needed in that area. Will be back for lunch with co-​workers soon.

While staying in Mobile, AL for six weeks for work, I ate here once and twice more got food to go. Loved the Tuesday night special of all you can eat Steamed Shrimp. Liked the tartar sauce better than the cocktail sauce and the Shrimp slaw was very tasty. My first to go order was Coconut shrimp (so I thought) but once I got back to my hotel discovered it was just fried shrimp. Good… but not what I ordered. The server was new so I guess that was the reason for the mix up. The second to go order I finally did get to taste the Coconut shrimp and was very happy! Fried pickles, and hushpuppies were great appetizers. Pleasant setting.
