Seafood is fair but it does have good service and a beach type atmosphere. Went for dinner last night with a friend. Had not tried the dining scene in Mocksville in a while and both of us wanted to try Seafood so we ended up at Blackbeard’s. Service was good. Greeted and seated immediately and we did not want for service for the rest of the evening. My friend order Fried Catfish and I ordered an Oyster Platter. Both protions were hugh but sad to say, not properly cooked. Her Catfish, as opposed to being moist and flaky on the inside, was very wet. My oysters were crunchy on the outside to the point that I expected them to be uneatible. As it was, there were still moist in the middle In otherwords, both were cooked at too high a temperature for too short a time so both dishes were not cooked uniformly. The restaurant reminds me of Drunken Jack’s in Murrell’s Inlet except for the fact that this place was almost deserted and Drunken Jack’s is always packed. Comes down to location, location. The prices were not bad for the quantitiy of food served as well as the good service but not the point of being on my ‘must go” again list.

I threw up when I got home. But the waitress was extremely friendly. They also have a Monday special… and they’re not open on Monday… so not really sure what that’s about.

I agree with Sue D. You would think they would change the oil sometime. Been there three or four times. Usually got broiled seafood. Portions were so tiny compared to fried. We didn’t order fried because of the fact that they don’t seem to change the oil or the oil is the cheapest brand they make. Either way it’s not really fit to eat. I’ve worked in restaurants, I haven’t owned one but I’ve worked in them. You can tell a «clean» one from one where the owners don’t care. When they first opened up you couldn’t find a place to park, now parking is no longer a problem.

Beware! and not just of Blackbeard or the skulls on the table! Awful service. Very slow. Perhaps short staffed? Ran out of baked potatoes and it was only 7:20pm. Not very attentive nor kind waitresses. Fried seafood was ok but nothing to brag about. Grilled salmon was the highlight of this adventure. Basically, we were placed in a booth and forgotten and the only help we got was when we grabbed someone as they walked by. Even had to make a waitress mad at the end to pay our bill. Just an awful experience. I could make a long list of better seafood restaurants within 50 miles.

Have been 3 times… food and service absolutely horrible… was so looking forward to it and then so disappointed.
