I’m saying«Four stars,» but they’re there to refer you to but one dish served by the restaurant. This is an overall good place to dine on anglo-cized Mexican food, but… really, there are so many similar places in the area, with none in the class of, say, Maria’s Mexican Restaurant in Santa Fe. BUT, with one simple item this place scores… BIGTIME! There will be a photo of this item, only the latest I’ve taken; but, any one of them could have been used, because the dish is almost unvarying. Chances are the Chicken Soup with Sour Cream you order should look(and delight) the same. You have a choice of the soup with or without rice — with… more like a meal, and makes for an interesting texture. Its finished with pico de gallo, and usually a bit of parsley and jalapeño chopped together. The ONLY fault is that there is not a dinner roll of some kind: no, it’s not expected… just that it would be a nice accompaniment, with some softened Butter… WHICH is why I use take-out from time to time, adding my own croissants and a glass of wine from my rack.

I am new in town, and went here based on recommendations, but this was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. To top it off, I developed a stomach ache over night, and spent a good amount of time in the bathroom the next day. Never again…

This is the best Mexican food in Mocksville, actually in the Triad. I am picky, because I’m from Southern California where Mexican food is amazing. The service is great. They make their own homemade hot sauce, try it! I always get a California Burrito, and my husband gets the fajitas texanas. It’s a great price for the children, we have 4. We always come out better going here, pricewise. TRYIT!

The last two times we ordered to go it was way too salty. I like salt, but this was hard to eat. Won’t be returning.

We eat here frequently as the food is always good and the staff friendly and efficient. I can order food a little different than the menu with no problem. This is a family run restaurant and they are part of the community. Never had a bad meal, but sometimes the salsa is a little hot for my wife.

Went here because of the great reviews… was sadly disappointed. Ordered a drink. dirty martini and they didn’t have olives re-ordered a martini. no vodka… ordered a margarita and a shot of tequila… they brought the drink and the shot. Thereafter, when I ordered a shot, they kept trying to take my drink away and ADD the shot, instead of just bringing the shot to the table… ordered a lunch special. the number 10… bad all the way around. Drink was watered down, food was horrible, and the service was, how shall I say, typically, Mexican… all of a sudden, no body spoke English… never again.

they say the best way to determine the quality of a Mexican restaurant is to sample their tamales, and the tamales at Monte Del Rey were simply amazing! everything about my experience was great, the food, the margaritas, the service. top notch across the board.

Great place for dinner before the football games! Tasty Mexican food within walking distance to the War Eagles Stadium.

Other Mexican restaurants come and go in Mocksville but this one remains. The reason is it is the best place for Mexican food in the county. Standard Mexican restaurant menu and they do it well. Only criticism I can give is with their adult drinks(e.g margaritas). The margaritas are pretty weak.

This place was so good! I had the chicken fajitas, was excellent! Cheese dip was really good too. Waiter was very friendly & drinks were always full. Went around 430pm & it wasnt very busy. Bathrooms & tables were clean. Food arrived quickly & was hot & fresh. Definitely a new favorite!
