A very nice manicured course and yes there are areas under repair. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer course anywhere for the value.

Having married someone from Davie County, I am coming to discover the area’s hidden gems. Pudding Ridge Golf Course is one of them. I didn’t have high expectations driving through the countryside to get to this course, but once I arrived I was impressed. Nice club house, good practice green, a nice chipping green near the first tee to get warmed up. With water on a number of holes, you have to think your way around this course. Some local knowledge or a rangefinder is helpful on some of the holes. There are downhill holes and uphill holes, doglegs, short and long par 3s. Good variety. Cost is reasonable, especially with twilight rates, and especially if you walk. It’s not an easy walking course — the distance from the 2nd green to the 3rd tee is looooong — but my son walks it regularly. If you want a change of pace from Tanglewood, or something more affordable than Oak Valley or Salem Glen, or an upgrade from Lake Louise, Pudding Ridge will hit the spot.

I like this course. LIKE. Kind of the way Pee Wee likes Dottie. There are tons of 500k houses here. But I don’t understand. I guess if you must live on a golf course this is as good as any but as far as the golf, well, its mediocre. I play here maybe once a year. From the tips it’s a decent challenge. Today I went out and played from the tips and shot 76. The greens were aerated which meant no decent putts. And I left my wedges at home idiot. So anything under 100 yds I used my pitching wedge which was a disaster. An easy course but a boring course. The biggest excitement came when I drove from hole two to three. The bamboo had matured which made me realize it’s been three or four years since my last round here. This 50 yard drive reminded me of House of Flying Daggers. Was waiting for the bamboo to be sliced and diced by a single blade. ANYWAY Not a bad trek. Lots of lakes and ponds. I’m sure in a few weeks the greens will be pure. Nineteen bucks is a good deal anywhere. Two stars off for the grill not being open. I skipped breakfast in anticipation of a mustard slathered dog. Instead I enjoyed a pre pak ham and cheese. O well, I’ll be back next year. While enjoying my sandwich in the lounge I overheard the shop guy and golfers talking about a new course in souther VA. Primland Resort. One said it was 200 bucks to play. The other said«well, they dont need me up there with that kinda price.» That’s right. Keep this course like it is. Affordable and kinda fun.
