Charlie Browns

My 8 year old daughter and I were just told to hurry up and finish because they wanted to close early. My daughter wasn’t even close to being done. Then they attempted to lock us in. After I informed the lone employee that it was a fire escape and needed to (by law) remain open he then got visibly annoyed and then demanded that we leave. WOW!!! I told him that it was an hour before they officially close and that while clients are there they need to treat us like we’re welcomed. He stormed into the back telling me to hurry and get out!

Not good food! Nothing great about the food here. I had the pig pin and it was dry and had mild flavor. Not impressed so I defiantly won’t be back

1^st and last time we’ll ever go here. I’ve been wanting to check this place out for awhile and today we decided to stop in since we were downtown already. Ordered 1 hotdog… took 40 min to get. It was beyond ridiculous. The girl that had ordered right behind us ended up walking out b/​c she couldn’t wait any longer all the staff did was apologize. When we finally got our food it was barely warm and the cheese was just thrown on and not melted… absolutely disgusting. NEVER going back here.

Absolutely unacceptable. The county health inspector was there when I was first arriving and I stood at the order desk for 10 minutes before anyone recognize me. Once they took my order and process my card I sat for 20 minutes as a health inspector pointed out multiple health violations and she was going to return in two days to see if there are fixed. And I waited another five minutes where other people are who ordered after me reserve their meals. I asked for my order and they had lost it! No apologies so ask for my money back and left. The place even smells dirty.

Wow this place has gone downhill.
This place used to have good hamburgers. I was there last Friday and waited 45 mins to get my food to go. I wasted my whole lunch.
There was two guys next to me that still had not gotten their food but had ordered before me. They screwed up their order.
Two ladies before me had to ask for a refund because when they got their food it was burnt and their ordered was messed up too. The staff didn’t understand what was wrong and made fun of them when they left. When I got my food I figured out had bad it was.
I finally got mine and it was burnt black and nasty. Fries were cold and they even got my order wrong. I paid for bacon and didn’t get it. The owner lady didn’t even seem to know what she was doing. There were only a few of us there but they were mixing up orders and sending out burnt food. I vow never to step into this place again fast food would have been more satisfying.

Remembering back how this was my favorite burger joint on a budget, I decided to give this establishment one last chance to redeem themselves and make it back on top of my list of favorite places to eat. Remembering back how fresh and juicy these burgers were, accompanied by perfectly hot seasoned fries, just made my mouth water! As I drove to this establishment I told myself I was willingly choosing to give this restaurant another chance, and not to be upset if the restaurant hadn’t improved.
I immediately noticed the changes in the establishment. Prices were up a little and condiments were no longer accessible. I was greeted in nice manner. I placed my order with no problems. As I waited for my order, I over heard the table next to me complain about the time taking on their order. Concerned that my order might be delayed as well, I couldn’t help but ask that table how long they had been waiting? The lady was upset and said she didn’t know exactly but it has been way to long! Moments later their order was brought out, only to be returned for a full refund. I didn’t wait very long when my order was up. My fries were not fresh, and were cold. My hamburger was over cooked to a charred stage. I requested ranch and smothered it with this sauce just to be able to finish it. I didn’t have anymore cash on me or the time to try to grab another lunch, so I made the best of it.
As I finished my burger another customer complained about never getting a hotdog order and after arguing with the staff, also got a full refund. As soon as that customer left one more complained, got a refund and left. By this point I couldn’t bear see how stressed out the employee that handled these complaints was. So my question is this… Why does the owner of this establishment hire inexperienced cooks to run his business? Does he not care this establishment to prosper? I didn’t leave this restaurant angry, but sad. The Charlie Browns I had grown to love existed no more.

Charlie Browns was simple. The fries were boring and could have been done way better. The burger was about as good as In-​n-​out but cost more (although the bacon was crispy and on point). The staff was super friendly though, and it was very clean. Oh, yea… The chicken fingers were bland and tasted like the oil in their fryers needed changing. 3 out of 5. I would recommend this place if I was tipsy…(but, chances are they would be closed when I was tipsy, since the only serve lunch)

always wanted to try this place but never got a chance too because they close too early but if anyone gets a chance i highly recommend comming and trying this place because they have some pretty good burgers and excellent hot dogs wrapped in bacon so if you like burgers and hot dogs this is the place to come!

Going to this little spot in downtown Modesto I figured it would be an average type of hamburger joint. I looked on there specials menu and found the Wicked Dog which caught my eye as I have a fondness with grilled onions. This particular dog also had jalapenos on it. That and the flavor of the dog and the tasty fries that came along with it I found tasty.

I work a few blocks away from this place and I thought I would give a try for lunch one day, boy do regret doing that! I would put no stars if I could no wonder there always hiring. I ordered a burger and fries. My burger was horrible worst burger I had ever had ! THE MEAT WAS BAD, IT HAD A SERIOUSLY FUNNY BAD SMELL TO IT, not only that but the hamburger bun was so soggy, the bottom bun melted into the burger. Gross!!! I looked across the room and notice a lady take a bit of her burger and immediately put it down and complained a few minutes later. I then got up and asked her if she smelled something funny in the meat and she said yes. I was the 2^nd person to complain in a matter of minutes. The fries were shoe string fries and not fresh either. YUK FOOD okay customer service, except for the cook she looked dirty and mean.

Yummy food! This place is awesome! Everyone was friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the place is clean and fresh. My family and I will be back!!!

It was early, I was in the area & on the go. I wanted BREAKFAST, Not a burger.
At the time … they had yummy Oatmeal with toppings and the Perfect OJ -(I’m picky about OJ)

What a rip off!!!
For a $ 7 burger it better taste good. Id rethink the shoe string fries if i managed this place. They’re lukewarm in 5 minutes tops.

Unfortunately, so many restaurants use frozen pre-​pressed burgers… Not this place. The burgers are fresh, taste great and are a great value. I personally like western burger low carb style. Like so many restaurants downtown, this is a family owned restaurant. The owners are very friendly and are dedicated to providing good food at a great value with the best customer service.
If you’re downtown looking for a place to eat, I highly recommend you stop here for a burger, chicken sandwich, salad or more.

I really don’t know all the hype is about. I have tried this place twice, thinking the first time was just a miss. However, I was correct the first time. I guess you get what you pay for… cheap prices equal pretty bad food.
The chicken strips are super greasy and dry… a hard combo to achieve, but happened both times. Fries are bland. The burger was on the small side and very messy and cooked very unevenly.
The service was lacking. I found the people who helped me to be rude while clueless of how to take my order all because I wanted a chicken strip combo.
Between the crappy hours and food, I don’t know how this place stays open.
I was so hoping this place would be good… its sad how hard it is to find some decent chicken strips and burgers in this town.

More burger joints should grab a notepad and come visit Charlie Browns because it’s proof here that great burgers don’t need to be cliché and over-​the-​top. You won’t find fifteen hamburgers influenced by seventeen different nations, some hits and some misses.
Instead, I found just a handful of choices on the menu and the Double Cheeseburger I chose on this visit was excellent. It was kept simple, served on a sesame seed bun with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions, and placed in a red plastic basket with checkered paper and a pile of fresh, hot fries. The burger was juicy with good flavor, the cheese nicely melted and running down the sides. The produce was fresh, lettuce was crisp and overall just a really good burger that left me pretty impressed.
Moral of my story — Charlie Browns didn’t impress me by over-​doing. Instead they kept a simple concept and used quality ingredients and sometimes that’s just how it should be. There’s too many other places fighting to over-​think a burger these days.

Best burgers in Modesto. Seriously. Haven’t bothered with the rest of the menu so I can’t comment on it. This is a burger joint and it works. The fries are perfectly seasoned. Burgers aren’t huge and fat, but I tend to like a thinner patty.
Good place for kids. Good kids combos with a popsicle. Can’t beat that. Peanuts décor is fun.
Go support a local Modesto business… you won’t be sorry with this one.

I was very impressed with the quality with these burgers. Always fresh never frozen and that makes a big difference in taste… Customer service is excellent and the only thing I can say negative about Charlie brown’s are the hours of operation, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve driven by and wanted to try them but they were closed. now I’ve tried them and now I’m a fan…
