Riddle Jane & Associates

I have been Jane’s client to many years as my mother was before me. She is AMAZING! I would definitely recommend her. She is fast and professional!

I had been Jane Riddle’s client up until she decided to have a hate filled rant and scream and yell at me during one of our sessions, then expected me to pay for the time she spent yelling at me. Jane would regularly push her religious and political beliefs on me during treatment. As you can imagine, this made me uncomfortable. She was always particularly good at pretending as if she didn’t mean anything bad by it. I had been ignoring this behavior for quite some time. Way too long actually. Her comments and snide remarks got much worse when she moved her business into her house. She would often greet me with an angry remark about what she heard on FOX news. Did I care about what she thought? No. Did I need to hear for the millionth time that she is a Christian and how great Christianity is? No, I did not. I was just there for electrolysis treatments. I would often try to change the subject or try (unsuccessfully) to remind her that everyone has their own opinions (poke poke, wink wink), but she never got the hint. There was an incident when I had accidentally let it slip that I was an Atheist (gasp) which resulted in her being extremely «shocked» and responded by saying that she hoped that one day I would «believe in something» with a disgusted look on her face. The thing is, I actually believe in a lot of things, like minding my own business for starters and not being obnoxious by expecting everyone else to think and act just like me. She would also tell me how she thought a «proper» woman should act and how feminism has ruined society. She didn’t see the irony in being able to run her own business and have control over her own finances. Always complained about her female clients and how they chose to live their lives. I remember one incident when she was really upset that another client of hers was hanging out with our hairdresser (we all go to the same guy). At first I couldn’t figure out why she would care who her client was having coffee with, then it became pretty obvious that it was because of his lifestyle.

When I could no longer put up with her ignorant comments, I decided whenever she would push her opinions on me I would respond by stating my own opinion in return. It was not hard to point out the obvious flaws in her arguments. I was not rude, I was actually very polite about it. She then started yelling at me about how much she hated Obama (she said hate several times in a row) and how he was a Communist/​Socialist/​Marxist who thinks he is a king and apparently everything bad in her life, including her over $ 200 phone bill, is his fault. She followed that up with screaming at me about coal and how «passionate» she was about coal. Uh, ok? I still have no idea why she mentioned this or why she thought I would care. She also just assumed that I voted for Obama, I can only guess as to why that is. I just sat there in silence as she yelled and screamed. The whole thing was just so bizarre. I have never seen anyone lose their temper like that for absolutely no reason. There were other comments that I know Unilocal will censor so I will leave them out of this review.
Whenever you get paid for providing a service you need to be polite and courteous to your customer/​clientele as well as avoid overly touchy topics unless you know for sure that they will not be offended by it. This is just common sense. She called me afterward and left a condescending message on my voicemail about how the whole thing was my fault because I was being disrespectful and am a terrible person. Classic projection and playing the victim scenario. She then refused to give me the settings she used for my treatments unless I started going to her niece, who is also an electrologist (I guess she wants her niece to have terrible clients, lol). The only regret that I have was that I didn’t record her rant and post it on you tube. It would have gone viral for sure. The fact that she chose to bad mouth me afterward just shows her level of professionalism.
If you are Jane’s client, be very careful. She tends to treat anyone that doesn’t agree with her as an enemy; she can be very vicious and passive aggressive about it. I would also highly recommend that you watch what you say around her. She likes to gossip and you better bet she will use it as a topic of conversation with the next person that comes in. For someone who supposedly «hates filth,» she sure does love talking about it. I had been her loyal client for quite some time, and in the end, this is how she treated me. She had mentioned she was retiring, hopefully that will be sooner than later.

A professional in every sence of the word!

I dread the electrolysis because it is so painful! But, I have had a great experience with Jane. I used to go to her sister, Linda Riddle-​Largent, who recently moved to Kentucky but I’ve been extremely happy with Jane. She is super fast and really works to zap those hard to find blond, fine hairs. I also love that she gives you numbing cream and leaves you with a little balloon of ice to help with the swelling. Any time I come home to Modesto, I will definitely make a trip to Jane. Oh I also like that she refuses tips. I am an adamant believer that tipping in this country has gotten WAY out of hand and appreciate that the price I paid was fair and complete.
