Decent drinks, music is hit or miss(really depends on if there’s live music). Too many bros here for my own liking, and cattie ass women! I’ve gotten in a handful of altercations here due to sloppy drunk people getting aggressive. If you are gonna make it out to Speakeasy, come early cause any time after 11PM it’s nearly impossible to get in, or a drink for that matter! I’ve had more good times than bad here, and if I come back to visit, I’d stop in for a drink.

Way to overcrowded you can’t even dance! A guy was doing coke right next to my table and lighting up a blunt inside. Only one bathroom for the ladies… honestly just way to small! Bartenders did a good job for how packed it was!

Strong drinks ! So pace yourself ladies . Takes a while to grab a drink due to being so busy, but stand up and grab the bartenders attention they’ll get to you ! Bathrooms have a putrid smell in them. No idea why. Never fails to smell even at the beginning of the night . Gotcha covered is always an amazing time(usually Saturday’s) Friday’s are usually A DJ Sunday’s I believe are karaōke nights!

Piece of shit place. Don’t waste your money here. The entire staff is classless(bartender is a shiester) & the place smells really bad. The bathrooms are trashed and the«security» is a bunch of big guys with small peens trying too hard to be somebodys. I came her for the first and last time and will NEVER come again!!!

Decent bar in Modesto. Though one night I paid with a $ 20 for a $ 12.00 total. A women bartender never gave my change back… trying to keep the rest as a big tip for her. She saw me waiting and immediately went to the other side of the bar and started serving 1, 2 and then she was going to serve a 3rd. I spoke up and said hello, I want my change back. She then got a really pissy attitude and got the $ 8 out of the cash registered and threw the money at me. Literally threw it down at me. Needless to say she was the worst bartender I have EVER delt with. Hence, my 1 star for the worst service I have ever experienced and 3 ½ or 4 stars for the establishment itself. This happened probably about 5 years ago and still remember clearly everything.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Me and two of my friends needed a random girls night on A Sunday. Everyone there was chill. No drama, We had a great time. We all loved the staff. Our bartender was awesome, really friendly, attentive and had fun with everyone. Even the security guard was cool, checking on and talking to everyone, and even walked us to our car at the end of the night. Bars with staff like this are pretty hard to find in Modesto.

Cool location, atmosphere is fun, bartenders are on point(service wise, one chick didn’t know how to make a drink), live music is awesome. However, it’s super small, not a lot of seating and drinks are EXPENSIVE!

The music is so loud it’s impossible to hear your conversation. The drinks are fairly priced and decent. It’s not too bad during the week but there’s barely standing room during the weekend.

Best place for drinks I highly recommend anyone who Enjoys good music to come here and spend some time. Bartenders are great and service is excellent

This staff there is a good reason for me, to not bring my crowd there anymore!!! Arrogant female Bartender grabs your not finished beer bottle in a millisecond, so you order quicker and more!!! When I was complaining about such a scam, she sent a security guy, to «remove» me, with the explanation, that I would be drunk!!! Okay, my group of 5 people won’t show up there anymore. Bad business practices and horrible customer service!!! Elisabeth Bendel

I walked down street disgruntled from a day of painting and general laboring, and stumbled into the right place. The establishment made my day. Not truly 50s themed, and I will stand my ground on that, but a bar that has a lot going right. Dark atmosphere it reminded me of burning man, a good juke box, genuinely great customer service, and reasonably priced drinks. For improvements, I’d like better merch; ties; fedoras; cheap coats; flap dresses; cheap but good hair pieces etc. Incorporate more of the prohibition era and sell it well… Watch the newest Gatsby, and checkout electro swing. Maybe a photo booth connected to face book that charges $ 2.50. All in all a very good diving trip, thank you Melissa the beautiful, patient, chill bartender :-) p. s. Why don’t you sell moonshine or capitalize on thise prohibition era drinks. Have some house stationary instruments, and the crowd will never leave. Cheers Modesto thank u :-)

Justin and Jeremy are the best bartenders! Jeremy makes the best otterpops ever. The only thing that sucks is the line. Aaron is usually the bouncer outside but there was some other short chubby guy with a beard and he did not know how to run the line. He told everyone in line at 1130 that he didn’t think he was going to let anyone in the rest of the night. really?! We went up front and looked inside and there was an empty table and plenty of room on the dance floor. Hmm I just hope he’s not there the next time we come

This place is definitely one of those places where you need to fit in at. The drinks are decently priced. I can’t really explain, you’ll just need to go to understand.

The prohibition-era inspiration of the Speakeasy Lounge ensures this is an interesting place to visit. There’s low, red-tinted lighting, tommy guns hanging above the bar, and a bar scene painting that is repeated in sections across the room. The aquarium built into the front, exterior wall seems totally random, but I think it’s alluding to the midnight liquor boat runs from Canada to the east coast way back in the 20’s. Having a 20s themed night would be an amazing idea for this joint. Sundays are karaōke nights and some amazing singers show up. Not to mention the girls who set up the karaōke are great to listen to! Drinks are $ 5-$ 7. The bartender, Justin(or is it Dustin?) is pretty nice when it comes to offering their $ 3 drinks. There’s a female bartender that was working last Sunday who did not care at all for making my drink! I asked for a cherry and she just ignored me! Funny since I was the only one at the bar! I would definitely avoid that one. Also, the security guys are totally weird. They’re over eager to take your empty glasses away but can’t spare a minute for a joke while checking IDs. Whenever I’m in this place, the crowd is younger and not as ready to throw down as some other places. I would be very surprised to see a fight happen here. And this may be totally an individual experience, but every time I come into this bar, my contacts dry out. Is it the smoke? The dim, almost sleepy lighting?

This place has a nice décor an ambiance. I love the martini shaped chairs. But cmon alright ya got the set up that’s a good start but it takes more then that. The band they have is pretty wack. The bouncers seemed pretty hammered off all the shots I saw them taking an the bartender seemed to distracted by all the females in the bar to serve me a drink. The crowd is pretty snooty an snobbish too. Not a very comfortable crowd to be in. There weren’t anyone that seems interesting there. The people are kind of a bore. I went out the back an left. The drinks are way overpriced too.

Every time I have gone there the bartenders have been rude. Drinks are overpriced and there was no water for designated drivers. Seating was hard to come by and the music was so loud I couldn’t hear people right in font of me.

I came down to the area just to visit and friend. So they take me out around town and we stop by this place. I have to say that it is a good place for a small town that have no place to go. Nice local people and visiter hanging out and good stuff service, price for drink is good. So you just have to remind yourself that you are in Modesto and make the best of it, after all it fun place to hangout.

My bro wanted to take me out for a «night on the town» in Modesto as I visit him about once or twice a year… live cover band was playing current pop hits, the sound system was off and it was nearly impossible to talk. Within 20 minutes, the place got jam packed with people! I wouldn’t call this a dive bar, and definitely not a speakeasy. A bar in downtown Modesto to stumble in, and out.
