This place has become a home away from home for our oldest boy. He really liked drumming, but this place turned it into a passion. It’s the brainchild of Darrin Morris. This guy is really pretty amazing. He plays about every instrument you can imagine, and he has the patience of a saint. He works wonders in the way he pulls talent from a random group of young people. He has a knack for finding each kid’s niche in the band and filling them with excitement for their role. Most people would be yanking their hair out. He just smiles and redirects them patiently.
Each class lasts from 6 – 9 weeks, and culminates with a live concert from all the bands he’s trained the past several weeks. They’ve played at Fat Cat and Gallo here in town. Such a blast for the kids! I can’t recommend VMI Rocks enough. What a great resource for Modesto!
